Speedlink OMNIVI Core Wired Professional PC Gaming Mouse SL-680006-BKRD : SpeedLink OMNIVI Core Gaming Mouse

There are a number of related items on the same product page so be careful to check that the review you read is for the model you are considering – mine is the omnivi core gaming mouse. I’m not really a gamer so i have checked out the basic mouse functions and build quality and passed it over to my son to test the full gaming options. As a mouse the speedlink omnivi is very well made, ergonomic in use and rather attractive with or without the leds – it works perfectly as an everyday mouse for whatever you need it for. My son has tried the gaming features and has been impressed with the options available at the price – currently around sixty-five pounds from amazon. The mouse is lightweight with a size that is good for gaming and it fits the hand ergonomically, the variable sensitivity works well and is easy to adjust, the autofire works as expected and the customisable leds can make the mouse look a bit special. You can also map key button commands to any one of the ten programmable buttons and customise your gaming profile to suit the way you game by using the mouse’s macro editor feature. The speedlink omnivi is a decent gaming mouse at reasonable price that will work well with many games.
And attractive mouse that fits well in my hand. Larger hands require larger mice and this one certainly works well for me. Shelves on both sides stop your little finger and thumb dragging on the table and a four-way button control sits nicely next to the thumb. Out of the box it’s not fully featured. You’ll need the software to program the mouse colours, dpi options and button macros. This doesn’t take long and will make the mouse as useful as you need it to be. For me there are enough buttons – i’m used to only two by my thumb – but you may require more. After programming a few useful dpi settings you’ll be able to flick through them easily with the dedicated button on the mouse. It remembers your settings and also remembers which dpi setting you left it on. Handyi’ve not noticed any lag or dead spots on this mouse.
All round good mouse the two small buttons on top bit fiddly to press but apart from that very precise.
There are generally several things that i look for in a gaming mouse, and pleasingly the speedlink omnivi ticks just about all the boxes:1. The mouse is quite large (about four inches long) and chunky, which is perfect for gaming. The last thing you want is some tiny little mouse that is hard to grip, or gets lost in your hand. It’s a quite dramatic red colour, with lights that flash apparently at the speed at which somebody breathes. On occasion this is distracting, but it does look really effective. There is a button on top which toggles the dpi setting, so you can set the sensitivity how you want it. Personally i like a relatively slow sensitivity, otherwise i find the mouse (not just this mouse, but any mouse) just flies all over the screen at the slightest touch. The left-hand mouse button acts as an auto-fire button, giving you ten clicks per second (apparently). This seems to work well, although i have found on a couple of occasions when i’ve got overexcited that i have ended up accidentally pressing the button to unleash hell when i hadn’t intended to do so. So far i’ve tried this on a windows 8. 1 pc, and a windows 10 laptop. You’ll need to upgrade the mouse drivers to work ok on windows 10, but this was easy enough. All in all a decent mouse, and recommended.
This is a ‘different’ looking but ergonomic and highly configurable gaming mouse, with some sparkly lighting features to boot – if that’s your thing. Firstly, looks-wise the mouse is all aggressive angles and shouty red colouring, with a black and yellow, smooth base. Using the driver software you can customise the lit portions of the mouse (the dpi wheel, the logo and the base, which is split up into different, independently lit portions, also configurable). Unfortunately you can’t configure the logo or dpi lighting and to be honest, i found the cycling through the colours and the pulsing a bit annoying during use. I should say here that the driver software was a fiddle to get going and use on my windows 10 system (and i’m a very experienced/proficient pc builder and user). The first installation failed but, after cleaning that out and simply plugging the mouse back in again too, all was well. Windows does recognise the mouse as plug and play – so you can just plug it on and move the cursor around etc as you normally would – but none of the advanced features will be available without the drivers. The software will also allow you to configure the buttons on the mouse, and what they do, perfect for gaming and setting up macros for things like opening inventories or quick aiming of weapons. In use the mouse is sturdy, comfortable and good to use (light show aside in my opinion). The mouse has a nice rubbery feel to it and the buttons are easy to use without being flimsy or too easily pressed.
Gaming with comfortthe following review was written by my son who is an avid pc gamer. Before using this device, i had no knowledge of speedlink gaming accessories and because of this i have been able to give an unbiased, honest review. I have been using a cyborg rat5 gaming mouse for 2-3 years and felt that an upgrade was necessary. The cyborg rat5 raised my expectations for gaming mice with a price tag of £50+ and i hoped to upgrade to a mouse with the same matching qualities. Setupi managed to install this mouse in under 5 minutes, i simply plugged it into a usb port (it worked straight away) and googled “speedlink omnivi” which brought me to a web page containing the driver software. I understand certain reviewers have had issues with windows 10 driver compatibility but i’ve yet to have any trouble after extensive use. The following link contains the official driver software needed for the mouse: [. software dashboardthe speedlink omnivi core’s customisation software is incredibly easy to navigate and allows users to bind and macro the mouse’s extra buttons for enough profiles for every major genre of video game. Personally, i use keyboard shortcuts for faster grenade throws and quick crouching in first person shooters. For massive multiplayer online (mmo) games, keybinds quickly help me auto target enemies and open important tabs (tested with world of warcraft). ]

This is my second speedlink mouse. The first was the aklys model which i was impressed by. Like this omnivi mouse it has a braided cable, dpi switching and in the case of the aklys a minor led light display. The omnivi is in another league, with an extra six assignable buttons an agressive good looking shape, the aluminium finger rest on the right side and an impressive and highly controllable led light display. Everyone who came into my office and saw it with the lightshow going commented on it. To use the omnivi you really need to install the software that’s easily obtained from speedlink’s website. It lets you choose between several light display types, and the colours are varied. Surprisingly i thought i’d be able to use the mouse as a kind of torch when my desk is in pitch darkness but it turns out that while it seems like bright light coming from the underside of the mouse it’s actually quite diffuse so doesn’t really illuminate my darkened keyboard. You also use the software to assign functions to the six extra mouse buttons, and to create macros for use in games. The ridged rubber on the mouse wheel is nice and grippy and the rolling wheel is suitably quiet – it doesn’t draw attention in a silent office.
this gaming mouse has some very impressive illumination modes together an ergonomic design which instantly gives it the feeling that it is a natural extension of your hand. The mouse slides very easily across hard or soft mouse mats and has a generous weight to it providing sufficient mass for small and intricate maneuvering. The scroll wheel action is outstanding, with a very soft tactile feel to it, without any sound at all. The usb connector is thin enough and long enough to fit between other usb plugs, even in a crowded spot at the back of a pc. It also has a flared end making it easier to grab and pull out from the port. The range of speeds is the best i have ever experienced. You can set it from 100 dpi to 12,000 dpi in 100 dpi increments in 6 steps. You can also set up a vast range of profiles that can be cycled from a mouse button. The performance in games is excellent and the roomy footprint of the finger switches make it much less likely to miss an opportunity in a moment of surprise during a game. In fact, those switches are much like ‘couches for your fingertips’ with the centre switch protruding up enough to support the middle finger when the mouse wheel / switch isn’t required.
