Tokina AF 100mm F/2, Excellent Lens

Excellent lens, lives up to the reviews.

Does exactly what i expected – as a macro this works very well on a d7000 and as a tele lense is good as well. Autofocus is no worse than the nikon lenses and when in macro mode you end up manually focusing.

Only just received this product, and at first, thought i may have to return it, i will be using it on a nikon d90, after fitting it to the d90 i was getting an error f. In both manual and auto modes. I played with the f-ring trying different f- stops to no avail and thought that it was not suitable for the camera. I have seen no reviews that say it would work on the d90. I then saw that the f-32 stop was coloured green and put it on that setting, ‘yes’ by leaving it on f-32 the d90 worked perfectly, in auto focus and manual focus also all modes auto,a,s and m, in a. And manual mode you choose the speed and/or apature on the camera and not the lens,so now i need to try it out on some macro shots and portraits,.

Tokina 100mm macro lenstokina products are well designed and manufactured, and i own more than one tokina lens as a result. Other reviews also spoke highly of the tokina 100 macro which helped in my deciding to purchase over other competitive lenses. The product was very competitively priced vs prime lenses, and the detail quality of the results are excellent.

This is one fantastic prime lens which i use it for portrait , and i’m only going to mention this twice, it’s tack sharp ,. Stopped down a tad it’s even sharper. It’s not the quickest for focus but on my d750 it gets the job done and i’m well pleased with the purchase.

After words tokina af100mm begins. Firstly i was a noob photographer before this lens in macro know after 5000+ photos with this lens i understand the meaning of quality macro shooting. I use it with d5300 sometimes with tripod for extra stability all settings in manual and plus with an extension tube 12mm just to be able to manual the f rotating in it. (for d5300 model) havent test the auto focus but to be honest i dont care much.

Macro looks great, autofocus is quick and sharp, and the build quality is great. The lens is heavy but to me, you’d expect that with the amount of glass inside. Also looks amazing for portraits.

Superb Glass!

A fantastic lens

Not only does it produce seriously sharp macro images (i’m using it with nikon d810) it’s probably one of the sharpest medium-telephoto length portrait lenses i’ve ever owned. I’m still learning the subtleties of macro work but this lens makes it easy. Af is slightly noisy but it’s the most minor of complaints, you don’t really use it for macro shooting anyway and you should be thinking about image quality instead, which this lens delivers.

Superb lens, awesome results even hand held macro.

After a long look at tokina, tamron, sigma (can’t afford the nikkor) i decided on the tokina. I was a bit unsure about the clutch focusing system but thought i’d give it a go, and i’m so glad i did . The lens feels so balanced on my d7200, it handles perfectly. The picture quality is excellent, razor sharp. If you’re after a true macro i would recommend this lens to anyone, a bargain at the price.

This was a replacement for the same model which i have had for 10 years, it finally gave up the ghost after a decade of abuse and it was unthinkable that i should buy anything else, i love this lens.

Superb optics for getting down and close – rugged design bomb proof.

This is the best value lens of its type that i have ever purchased. Images are super sharp; even more so than equivalent macro lenses at double the price.

I’ve only had this lens for three hours and didn’t read the instructions, (they were all in french). Went out in the garden and produced the results i have posted. A beautiful lens, so much contrast and so sharp. Well pleased and highly recommended.

Astonishing quality for this price – used it to photograph loads of old prints – virtually no distortion.

It does all it says it does, but images taken with this have a certain undefinable quality that is different to other lenses. Brilliant as a macro lens (1:1 max) and also for general photography. The 100 mm fixed length makes you think a bit more, but that is a good thing. I have nothing negative to say about this lens.

Simply the best 100mm macro lens in the world. Even better than nikon’s entry.

This thing is just on a different level with portrait sharpness. And that’s not what i intended to use it for.

Build quality is great, handles well and images are very sharp as long as you don’t use too high number aperture.

Good quality build, solid feel to it. I’m just getting into photography and by no means an expert but having looked around at sample images and other reviews i opted to purchase this and i don’t regret it at all. Images and colours are really good and much cheaper than similar offerings from other manufacturers. I’d happily recommend this to anyone wanting to give macro a try.

I own most of the nikon topend glass ,i have never seen quality ( build and image ) to match this lens , evan if you paid double it’s still outstanding value for money .

I have been into slr photography for 30 years and have never come across a lens that has such a beautiful to use focus ring. It is so easy to use manually and such a joy i would never use auto focus.

This tokina lens does what it says and more. Extremely well made lens and the optics are tack sharp. Beats my nikon 60mm micro lens.  tokina atx 2,8/100 makro d nafd for nikon.

Amazing lens, better quality, image sharp than big brand lenses.

A prefect marco/portrait lens.

I have been using for a number of years, a sigma70mmmacro lens which has been (and still is) good. However, i wanted to be that bit further away from my close-up and macro subjects and so i bought this. It is a great lens to use, especially with the manual focus clutch arrangement. There are lots of in-depth reviews here, so it would be pointless of me to echo them. I just wanted to add my 5 stars to the count, as i really appreciate this lens. My sigma70 used to live on the camera but now this one does.

This is a fabulous lens and feels solid. There is something quite tactile and mechanical about it which i enjoy as it makes me feel more involved. If you want an excellent prime lens then i would recommend this one.

This lens is the sharpest i have every used. I have tested it with my nikon d7200 and d3200. The autofocus works with d7200 as the camera has an inbuilt motor. Its manual focus only on the d3200. Either way the lens is great to use and i am really impressed with it. The lens is well made and very good quality. Its the best macro lens i have ever used.

Excellent quality, solid, as sharp as in the reviews.

A fantastic lens for macro work and portraits.

It is a d-type lens – comes with an aperture ring, so you could use it with an old film camera, such as a fe, fm, or even a nikkormat ft3.

Over the years i’ve had quite a few macro lenses including the nikon af-s 105mm 2. The tokina beats them all hands down for build quality and exquisite image rendering. As far as the tokina,s af speed is concerned i have no issues mounted on my nikon d500. As regular macro users will know you mostly use manual focus anyhow. Overall i couldn’t be more pleased and wish i’d discovered this beauty years ago and saved myself a load of unnecessary expense. If you’re left in any doubt about this remarkable lens just read the reviews online. A big thank you to youtubes ‘angry photographer’ for pointing me in the right direction.

The lens is as excellent as you have probably heard elsewhere. I bought from amazon warehouse though, and the lens i received was broken. The focus clutch mechanism wouldn’t snap into the manual position properly. Sending it back wasn’t an issue, but i’m fairly sure they just put it back on the shelf as they had used ones at different prices, as one appeared at the price i paid shortly after i was reimbursed.

I love this lens for macro work.

As sharp (or sharper) than the nikon 105mm and only half the price. It takes great photos of flowers and insects and also would be great for a fixed focus portrait lens or for landscapes (use your feet to zoom). This is my second tokina at-x pro series lens (the other is the 11-16 superwide) and they both perform superbly and are real bargains. I love my nikon dslr bodies but the lenses are a bit pricey. These are much more affordable with no loss of quality.

Awesome lens for the price, just as good if not better than the nikon 105mm prime. So pleased i purchased this alternative, solid construction and sharp good colour lens.

I have to say i was very sceptical about this lens. Due to previous experience i wanted to buy a different and more expensive product but money became an issue. I need not have worried though. After much research i bought this tokina 100mm f/2. 8 and found the optics to be incredibly sharp. Not only is this lens great at macro photography but fantastic for portraits too. During 2017 most of my positive feedback regarding my photographs were those taken with my nikon d750 & tokina 100mm f/2. So yes i would definitely recommend this lens.
