perixx PX-2000 – This keyboard

The amount of false representation of the images was worrying at first. But having ordered it before i looked up a review online, i decided to give it a try anyway. I was instantly surprised by what i pulled out of the box, the build quality was an instant relief, the sleek palm rest looks incredible and feels comfortable, my only gripe at the moment is the space bar makes more noise than any of the other keys. Not sure if it’s manufactured like this or not, but besides that. It is incredible, the lighting for the keys is incredible, i haven’t had the problems some other have noticed about the back light being faint and the keys becoming un-clear. As well as the adjustable settings for the keys; off medium high pulse. Conclusion: great for gaming, macro’s are a big help, back-lighting is pleasing and helpful if your in low-light conditions.

Been in use a while now with no issues.

The backlight isn’t very good due to not being able to see it fully at an angle. But it is satisfactory especially in the dark. Lettering is transparent so it won’t wear down. It does make it hard to see without the backlight so keep it on full when using it. It is a bit bigger than i expected but the size seems fine. Can’t say much about the macro keys since i haven’t used them but having them on the left side is great instead of on the top. Other than all the negatives, it feels nice to type on and isn’t very loud. It looks nice, the braided cable is a nice touch. Worth the money but if your just looking for something specifically for backlighting or something smaller i’d get something else.

Haven’t done much with the macro keys as yet(using one to change display and sound device) but they seem good although wow players seem upset that they don’t repeat. That said the keyboard itself is sturdy, doesn’t slide around like some cheap ones and looks good. So long as its not too bright. I have the blue led backlight and it’s not bright enough to show up much during the day. The numlock on the other hand is dazzlingly bright to the point where the first thing i do after hitting the power button is turn it off. I bought this to replace a cheapo keyboard as my first ‘gaming’ one. Without playing mmo’s i don’t feel like i’m making the most of the macros. The backlight is a little underwhelming till it gets dark but is nice in the evenings. All in all a good effort from perixx but not up to the standards of their mouse(mx2000).

I was looking for a decent gaming keyboard and with this i’ve found one. First impression out of the box is that this is a nice looking keyboard although the picture on the box is slightly different from the actual product. Different but better, the product looking to be of good quality. I’m also pleased with the performance of the keyboard so far. The keys are soft to press and not as noisy as my previous £5 keyboard. The back lighting is a very pleasant warm blue glow. Leaning back slightly does make the keys hard to read though. The key lock feature for gaming is a good touch preventing you from even alt-tabing out of a game. So far the best thing i have found about the keyboard is the better comfort in gaming. However, in terms of key responsiveness i have not found it too be any different from my previous keyboard.

I’ve had this for years and it still works perfectly fine for playing games on pc and for general typing use.

Nice design, got used to typing with it straight away and the feel of the keys is very comfortable, light can only be viewed properly from directly above so it depends where you normally place your keyboard to get its full experience, for the price it’s definatley recommended by me as the higher priced keyboards can lack general quality and quite often be faulty or have a low life span.

Since the day i received it has been working flawlessly, i just love the feel when the keys are pushed down. The keys are amazingly silent. Build quality is top quality from germany. One con to this keyboard is that the keys have spaces in between each key which allows dirt and dust to build up inside the keyboard i just wished the whole keyboard was better enclosed which would not need me to have to clean the keyboard out in future. The back lighting works fantastic, amazing for late workers and gamers. The keyboard states it has 3 lighting stages however, i found it to have 4 stages if you include the off lights, the first is pulsing blue lighting which happens to match my death adder razer gaming mouse. The others is constant high and low constant lighting. In all, this is a great keyboard foot work and gaming. Can’t beat for what you get.

Great keyboard, its hard to see the lights if you are not sitting up properly, when i turn off my computer the lights stay on and i don’t know how to turn them off.

When i got a computer upgrade i wanted to make sure that i got a good looking keyboard and mouse, so i was looking for a gaming keyboard, with macros, that lights up and looks cool. This keyboard looks very cool, and it has customizable macros, and you can even control the brightness of the keys. The macros are easy to program and you can have up to 18 different onesi would recommend this product for ease of use, style and price over an over rated brand like razor. Plus i bought it along side a perixx mouse and mouse mat, so i got an even better deal.

This is a very good keyboard – i especially like the fact that the characters on the keys are not printed on but are translucent. When in use a blue light shines through them – this avoids the problem of seeing the keys in the dark but more importantly the characters do not wear off as with all other keyboards i have used, due to excessive use of certain keys in gaming. The price is also very good.

Pretty hard to get used to if you don’t look at the keyboard whilst typing as the macro keys to the left pushed all the keys slightly to the right. Whilst playing games i often saw myself pressing the m1 or m2 keys instead of the escape key. Now i am used to it this keyboard have a nice, comfortable design and feels great to type with.

It’s nice to type on – keys are nice and quite, its got extra programmable keys etc. However, issues:* it looks sturdily built – it isn’t. It flexes a lot if you push down on the rear of the keyboard. * the illumination turns off when coming out of standby, so you have to turn it back on (windows 8. 1 but could affect other os)* difficult to see the keys without illumination, as mentioned in other reviews. * difficult to see the illumination unless you are really sitting on top of the keyboard. This is because the keyboard stands don’t angle the keyboard up enough. * the caps lock / scroll lock leds are bright blue. Here are the specifications for the perixx PX-2000:

  • Make sure this fits
    by entering your model number.
  • Blue LED Illuminated Feature with Backlit Keys
  • Full Size Layout with Gold-plated USB Connector and 1.8m Braided Fiber Cable
  • Windows & Desktop Lock Keys
  • 6 Macro Keys with 3 User Profile
  • 3 Level Brightness Adjustment

Brought as has macro keys and not soo garish that i couldn’t use it at work. The enter and backspace keys do need a full press to work, whereas the rest of the keys are fine. To fix i flicked the 2 keys off the keyboard carefully. Got a small bit of rolled up paper and put it inside the tube at the base of the key so that it was snug and trimmed to slightly longer than the keys plastic tube. Now when the key is pressed the paper triggers the key at a normal pressure, rather than the very end of the downwards motion.

I bought this a couple of years ago now and it still works well, the media keys are very useful and the ability to alter the brightness of the lights is a great touch. I don’t play mmos so the macro keys were more than i needed but all in all a very good keyboard.

Amazing keyboard, i’ve had absolutely no issues with it at all. The only things i’d say to watch out for are the m1-6 buttons on the left side can take a bit of getting used to and are awkward to bind. The fn key however is a very useful little addition. One thing that may scare you off, the backlight can never be turned off, the computer itself must be either unplugged or switched off by the psu or socket. I’ve tried to disable the backlight then turning it off but it still lights up, it’s not too bad but it may be a deciding factor.

The keyboard is very good for the money and looks very cool. The back lit keys work like a treat and allow you to type and game in the dark. The macro keys are very handy for gaming and normal use and are very easy to set. One thing is when you get it the keys will seem very hard and thumpy but as you use them they become more bouncy and soft. I don’t know why it was like this but it doesn’t really affect it in either way.

I bought this for programming, wanting the programmable keys, which are great – positioned down the side, making them easy to access. They are very quick & easy to program – i find them particularly useful for cut, copy & paste which are otherwise a two-key operation – (ctrl-x etc – something that seems to require looking at the keyboard). The problem with this keyboard is the backspace and carriage-return keys – they both don’t quite work when you press them normally – you have to go back and hit them harder. I thought this was something that i’d get used to, but i didn’t, so i’ve gone back to my old keyboard (a microsoft ergonomic shaped one). The led backlights work well – i have these on a laptop too, and you really miss them when a keyboard doesn’t have them.

It arrived swiftly and well packaged. It works a dreamwhen non illuminated, the key symbols appear to be dark grey on black (cool but rather hard to define)when iluminated,(with me thats all the time) symbols are visible even from a shallow angle, clearly defined from a convential typing angle and pin sharp when viewed from a more overhead angle. It took me a while to get used to the m1 to 6 keys arranged down the left hand side of the keyboard as i kept on hitting the m5 instead of shift but i’ve got used to that now (i actually like them there now). My most popular macro key use at the moment is not actually for gaming but having a one key email address to hand :)thank you.

Reviews from purchasers :

  • Nice keyboard
  • While it does work fine as a keyboard and key action is fine
  • Brilliant keyboard, strong and visually pleasing!

I’ve had this for about 6 months and it’s not as good as it was, everything is still fine but my spacebar is quite loud, the leds are a little dim too and the macros don’t always enter the first few keys in the combo. I don’t know if it’s worth £25 and i don’t think i would buy another. It’s not outstanding in any way and it was hard to get used to. I think my next keyboard will be a slimline one. I like the braided cable but the rest of the keyboard doesn’t seem very premium at all. I prefer it to my last keyboard but i wouldn’t buy another one. Also i’m not good at not repeating myself.

I recently joined the lower ranks of the pc gamer elite. I have mostly been playing pc games with a wired 360 controller (no wireless interfaces and batteries to contend with), but some games don’t offer support for this. I have been using xpadder, but i decided that i should learn to play with keyboard and mouse (shot accuracy in fpss is sooo much better with a mouse). Rather than destroy my chiclet keyboard, i decided to invest in a reasonably priced gaming keyboard. It plays well: comfortable under the fingers, accuracy seems good and i haven’t had any ghosting issues. The windows lock key is very handy, especially for someone still learning to play with a keyboard. Usb cable is sturdy and a good length. Illumination is a little feeble. When i first connected the keyboard, the media hot-keys were behaving very strangely; reconnecting seemed to resolve this. It’s a little uglier than it looked in the pictures. It’s not too loud, but it’s not especially quiet either. As far as i can work out, the macro keys lack the functionality of more expensive gaming keyboards (go figure).

It takes a while to get used to the keys, they’re quite flat so it can be a bit disorientating at first. I took the macro keys out on the left, i kept on mistaking them for the ctrl and shift keys. The backspace key doesn’t actuate properly sometimes, so you have to be a bit more deliberate than usual when using the backspace key. But there are plenty of better back-lit keyboards than this, so i would give it a miss.

I bought it as a cheap alternative to gaming keyboards, and lets face it there is no point spending more than £30 odd on a keyboard. The only problem with it is when your pc goes on standby, the lights on the keyboard may turn off, and upon pulling your pc out of standby they wont turn on again unless you unplug and replug the keyboard. Not a problem at all though.

Ok quality and excellent value. This is a backlit keyboard, keys are tactile and comfortable to use, however discerning individual keys can be difficult, notwithstanding the back lighting. I got this as a replacement, it is lightly used, i would not utilise it a heavily used device. I have acquired ‘perixx’ products in the past, these were all of reasonable quality and excellently priced.

Had this for 3 months, since my old keyboard started to break, this thing is amazing. I do agree that the lights aren’t viewable from all angles, but when gaming i don’t even have to look at the keys all the time. It feels amazing with the non – fingerprint proof main body, and has fully mechanical switches that come in at an incredibly competitive price. The macros on the side are great for gaming at the angle i play at so i don’t have to press other keys. I have this paired with the perixx mx-2000, the first edition and they have the same aesthetic and fit well with my blue led’s inside my custom built gaming pc. Anything that i would change?. If i could change one thing it would be the viewing angles although as i said the way i sit i can see them mostly.

I looked into a lot of keyboards before settling on this, i wanted a mechanical backlit keyboard but the price was a no go in the end. This product however is an excellent price, came in a nice little box with easy to understand instructions and a nice glossy finish. My only downside is that if the pc does not shut down correctly then it will remain fully lit unless you plug it out.

Does the job for a cheap keyboard, the main issue is that if you’re quite small and don’t have your head way above the keyboard, you can’t see the lighting of the keys so it’s sometimes hard to know where the keys are. Another thing, the macro keys seem to be a bit unresponsive but i don’t use them much and it might just be me who didn’t register them correctly.

4 or 5 years ago i began building a new pc gaming rig and this keyboard was a part of it, and i am still using it to this day with no retirement in sight for this brilliant blue little keyboard. It has a very satisfying tactility when typing ( or button mashing as i would refer to it) and the keyboard doesn’t feel thin as many other ones do that my friends have tried and promptly abandoned. In addition to this the blue backlight (with adjustable setting thankfully) is not too bright and serves as a nice way to both light up the room in a cool blue colour but also makes each key easily visible in low light. Fantastic product that i cannot stress enough how good it is.

I rate this only 3 stars as i am used to a mutch more high end keyboard (bought the perixx for my brother) but i though this keyboard for only £20 was well worth it the perixx brand is a really good one for someone with a lower budget, this keyboard has a glossy finish non-mechanical keys and fairly disappointing leds but they do the job very well for what they cost, in short this keyboard is no where near the best out there but is perhaps the best value for money :).

While it does work fine as a keyboard and key action is fine, there are a few issues. The main one is that the backlight isn’t great, and you can you can barely see which key is which when viewing at an angle. There’s also an issue where the backlight turns off whenever the pc switches on. This could just be an issue with windows pcs in general but it’s a pain. This problem is made worse by the key shortcut combination for the backlight requiing two hands to activate. The only other issue is that there are three profiles available for the macro keys but there’s no indication of which one is active, making them much less useful.

Keyboard is loud, although it doesn’t bother me, it bothers my friends because they can hear it through my blue yeti but other than that the quality is good for the price, the macros work great and they save you a lot of tapping and time. You get instructions in the box, which are fairly easy to read so all the macro setup is straight forward.

The only problems i have with this keyboard, is i find the layout awkward being used to having certain keys on the very left of my keyboard, which is my fault for not seeing this coming. The main issue for me is the backspace and r keys being slightly less responsive, this is a problem when trying to correct my mistakes or in games when i reload, i have to press r a second time. Oh, the up key also feels a bit unresponsive sometimes when i’m trying to go forward in games. I like the overall design and feel of the keyboard, but i am definitely forcing myself to type more to the right constantly. My reason for buying this keyboard, was all my previous ones had letters pealing off so i wanted one with lights instead, seemed cool. I haven’t decided yet whether to keep using it, but it mainly depends whether the key responsiveness changes in time/whether i can fix it, and whether or not the layout continues to be a problem. I give it 3 stars since a gaming keyboard like this should not have keys that i have to think twice about pressing, when cheap £5 keyboards don’t have this problem.

Overall, this is a really good keyboard. The backlit lighting is strong enough to be able to see the keys with the lights off but it’s not overpowering like some other keyboards are. The macro keys are of a huge help to me – i stream wow and lol on twitch and so using the macro keys as scene changers for obs really helps as the other keys are saved for the game it self. If you have £50/60 to put towards a good gaming keyboard i’d definitely recommend this one.
