Logitech Gaming Keyboard G19s – UK layout – I generally love keyboards and Mouse but I feel they are
There’s no doubt that for anyone serious about gaming this is an attractive item. The keyboard, which was really easy to install via the logitech site, has a nice gloss back surround and a tactile palm rest which is made of hard plastic. Logitech have marketed this as ‘hydrophobic’ as it apparently reduces palm sweat, it is comfy to use if you are going to be tapping keys for some time and making use of the range of features such as the programmable keys. Before buying it’s worth making sure you have enough room on your desk as it extends further back due to the tiltable display (and large detachable palm rest) and is wider than the norm due to the programmable keys on the left. You will also need an extra power socket to power this keyboard. The usb and power cable are fused together which makes for a bulky wire combination on your desk. The built in usb ports are a good feature and supply enough voltage to power/charge devices. On the desktop assuming you have the space this does look the business and the build quality is good, as you’d expect frankly given the price. The keys can be illuminated using any colour, although i was a little disappointed that you could not customise individual key colour. Certain keys around the main keyboard have a fixed colour, and i quite like the funky font.
Got this for my bf who is really into his computer gaming he really liked it and had everything plus more than what he expected it to , having had the make of the one before it. Good buy for anyone into there gaming.
Fantastic nicely packeed, united kingdom version, big enter, small shift, great to install software and came fast lovely keyboard.
Handy little screen can show many things like character profiles in games and voice over ip services. Comes with optional hand rest. Can change colours of the keys but unfortunately they are not that bright and can only display one overall colour. Comes with 2 usb ports on the keyboard which are fast speed ones, as the keyboard plugs into the mains, so charging things like your phone arn’t painfully slow. Has feet to raise keyboard and space underneath for cables.
Realiable, good driver support, worked first time.

I generally love logitech keyboards and mouse but i feel they are not breaking the mould on this one as they should be. Still, great to use and responsive. I would still rather own logitech than any other brand when it comes to pc peripherals.
The logitech g19s is a lovely keyboard which offers a wealth of gaming orientated features. I play a lot of battlefield 3 and starcraft 2 and my current keyboard is a microsoft sidewinder x4. The x4 doesn’t have a screen but it does have red backlighting, massive anti-ghosting properties (26 simultaneous keys) and programmable macro keys. And all for less than forty quid. Now, i really do like logitech peripherals and have a g500 mouse. Logitech’s current `s’ line is the newest iteration of its venerable g series. The g19s is well built keyboard and comes with all the features a gamer would expect. It feels very premium and it is clear a lot of time has gone into designing the aesthetics of this board. This surface of the board and keys does feel very nice. The little screen is great for displaying additional info through downloadable applets such as your core temps or media playback and also teamspeak.
Without the power connected the keyboard functions as a standard usb keyboard, but where’s the fun in that?. The plug is one of those that have the cable going in at the top where the earth pin is. It’s also a longish plug – basically what i’m saying is that if you use a 10 or 12 gang powerstrip, with two rows of sockets, this plug will take up two spaces across the width of the strip. That’s really sloppy design. Who doesn’t use an extension powerstrip with their pc?. The lead coming out of the keyboard is doubled-up for usb and power making it heavier than a standard usb cable and somewhat unwieldy, though this is really just a niggle. The keyboard is entirely plastic, with membrane-switched keys. I have had one of the original logitech g15 keyboards for an age and while it uses the same non-mechanical-switched keys, the housing feels heavier and sturdier in use. The old g15 had 18 programmable ‘g’ keys, while the revised g15 only had 12, as does the g19s.
The g19s is a thoroughbred gaming keyboard, if you are looking for something for more general use i would look elsewhere. Lets be straight, the price of the keyboard is right at the top of the ladder and the consensus around the internet is that its simply too much due to the fact that the keys are not mechanical and you can buy a mech keyboard much cheaper. I disagree with that and i will explain why. The g19s has membrane switches, although they can feel a little stiff out of the box, they do loosen up (a little) after a few weeks. Looking around at peoples arguments for preferring a mechanical over membrane switches, people will comment that you can type faster with a mech keyboard, i think they are missing the point, the g19s is not marketed at the ms word crowd, it is a gaming board pure and simple. The built in display has also been called a gimmick. I fail to see how any option which can enhance your in game performance can be called that. Its just so versatile, if you have just built a system or upgraded your current one, you can play around in games and use the display to check your system temp’s and display fps without having to rely on silly in game overlays. A lot of games are supported with available plugins to display relevant information on the screen, i play a lot of minecraft and was happy to see such a plugin existed. You will find 12 programmable macro buttons, well placed to the left the of the keyboard, each key can be programmed with 3 macro commands, so easily swappable at the touch of a button.
It’s a special sort of keyboard that needs its own mains power adapter, and which needs to be allowed time to boot up before you connect it to your computer. This is that special keyboard, and it has some useful features for gamers as well as a slightly gimmicky lcd screen. The pc keyboard layout wasn’t designed for gaming, but this keyboard makes the best of a bad job. The most commonly-used movement keys, w, a, s and d, are picked out in a lighter grey so you can position your fingers quickly and accurately. There’s a switch to turn off the ‘windows’ keys which cause problems with some games. There’s totally customisable backlighting, including brightness and rgb sliders to give you any hue you fancy; or you can turn the backlighting off with a single keypress if you prefer. There’s an array of twelve customisable keys down the left-hand side, which can also have multi-press macros assigned to them. Oh, and there’s an lcd display built in, with a selection of applications. It is very important when you get one of these keyboards to download (no software is supplied in the box) and install the management program before connecting the keyboard. The management software works with the keyboard, and the keyboard won’t work properly without it. You then plug the keyboard into its power supply and finally connect it to the computer.
I bought this for my partner who is a big gaming fan. He found the keys were too small for his hands and returned it.
I don’t love it at all but my daughter for whom i bought it as a christmas present certainly does. Why is beyond my ken but in her world it rocks.
First impressions and build:============================the g19s shares a form factor with the other keyboards in the g series – traditional qwerty, f keys, and numpad banks, with the function keys shoved to the left of the keyboard and the controls for the screen, memory profiles, and volume up top. It’s made of a variety of heavy plastics: the keys and handrest are a non-slick matte material, while the trim around the edges is a glossy dark blue. The thing feels solid and there’s little flex, as you’d expect and hope for at this price range. The g19s embraces the ‘gamer’ aesthetic fully, with every key backlit with a completely customisable colour. The leds themselves aren’t terribly bright, although they’re definitely bright enough to be noticeable in a well-lit room and readable in the dark the illumination is slightly uneven on some keys, such as the capslock key. The transparent cutouts for the lettering on the keys is in a futuristic typeface, very much in keeping with the general style of the package. I normally go for more sedate designs – my previous keyboards were a unicomp mechanical keyboard and a logitech wireless solar, but the g19s is just tasteful enough for me to use it without feeling like a late 90s cyberpunk throwback. Not that there’s anything particularly wrong with that, of course. Looking past the illuminated keys and ballsy design, there’s another unusual feature: the screen. It’s a tiny 4:3 led display attached to the top of the keyboard. Here are the specifications for the Logitech Gaming Keyboard G19s – UK layout:

I’ve been using this keyboard a long time now even the older version and only had one problem with the second one i bought (this is the third) what happened is the 2 button broke i guess the rubber dome was faulty but logitech replaced it right away with a brand new keyboard in the box, just feels great and i highly recommend it.
Having bought this keyboard for £85 and using it for several weeks and for various uses i feel i have tested it enough to review properly. Please be aware that i’m reviewing based on the £85 i paid for the item and not the current price. The main reasons i purchased this keyboard were for the customisable backlighting, programmable keys and the added usb ports for adding extra controllers and charging other devices. Firstly, unlike most keyboards, the g19s requires a power socket for full functionality. This wasn’t a problem for me as i had plenty of socket space available but it is worth mentioning as the plug is also quite large compared to the average plug. In the box there aren’t any instructions as such, just a quick setup guide with images of what to do, it also doesn’t include the software required to use, you need to download it. This wasn’t a major problem as it’s easy enough to do. Setup was easy and fairly quick but it is worth noting that you must download the drivers and software from logitech’s website before plugging it in to use as i believe there may be a few issues if you don’t. In total it took me no more than 5 minutes from getting it out the box to downloading the software and being able to use it as a normal keyboard, the customising of the backlight and the addition of programmed keys takes no more than a couple of minutes using the software. The keyboard is very comfortable to use for gaming thanks to the palm rest and riser feet at the back combined with the key layout, it also has a nice sturdy feel with nice key operation even though it doesn’t actually weigh that much and the keys are plastic.
I upgraded from the logitech g11 – i got 8 years out of it. I chose to go with this board because i know that i will get years of use out of it. The keys are not super silent but they are not to terrible. I love the soft touch feel of the hand rest and the keys. The ability to colour code my profiles is awesome and there are many colours to choose from for you keys. The lighting isn’t daunting either. Also you have the option to turn off the lights and you are still able to see the keys lettering as they are nicely contrasted. (some keyboards that are backlit aren’t as nice). I get feeds from my games, i as well can get rss feeds, see my computers performance, and have the time if i want along with other features right at my fingertips and not having to come out of a movie or game to see. It as well connects with my logitech webcam and will put the picture of your webcam up in the display. Great for if your video call gives you the option to close your window out so you don’t have to see yourself when talking to your friends and family. (the monitor can be turned off) i like the dedicated gaming and normal windows use button. It locks the windows key out so that you don’t click it and come out of your game in play.
Pain that it needs a power cable.
Very expensive for what it is, but it does what i want and it’s very functional. Likes, scroll wheel for player volume, illuminated keyboard, feel of keys, the coating which stops greases building up on the keys and main body-it keeps it looking clean after a lot of use. Dislikes, the whole point of this keyboard is the colour lcd display which runs apps to show you clock, cpu usage etc. I was really disappointed at the lack of apps. I couldn’t find any that did what i wanted, so, if you are entranced by the idea of the screen, check out if any apps that do what you want are available.
I’m not a heavy games player in comparison to some others on here, but enough to want to see what this keyboard could do, & i wasn’t disappointed. When i first saw it, i knew it wasn’t going to be a quick plug&play keyboard from the look of the keys layout and lcd screen. The latter is a nice feature which helps you to instantly see certain aspects to the game you are playing, system information, or any of the other option you choose. I must confess i wasted more time watching youtube vids & trying to view some small vids on my pc than using the screen while in a game. In general, the kb is very easy to setup and use. There is an option to change the backlight colour which is cool. You can easily change it to match how you feel at any time but in truth at times in certain lighting this was difficult to view, & after a while you almost ignored it anyway, so perhaps not as great a selling point as logitech might like it to be. The g-keys are also easy to setup and use for gaming. I didn’t use too many, but they are quite helpful for certain things. There are more than enough of them to cause problems trying to remember what they all do, esp if you’re on the wrong side of 50.

I love it I mean really love it.

Nice replacement for the G19 without changing too much – but now pretty much impossible to obtain

Because of an injury in my right hand, I

My g19 suffered with a torn membrane on the space bar making it terrible to use. Logitech had pretty much discontinued all of the g19 series including the ‘s’ model, and although not a mechanical keyboard, i really do find the lcd useful on both the g19 and g19s. I had originally thought that the g19s would be more annoying with it’s blue accents (which look far brighter on the photos that they are on the keyboard itself), but fortunately they are not as ‘in your face’ as the photos make them out to be. They keyboard itself is nice to type on, although the space bar on this one is a little ‘squeeky’ for some reason. One other change between this and the g19 was the use of all capitals on the keys as well us using a different font face over the g19. This took a little getting used to as it looks odd and actually made finding some of the keys more complicated (even though i am used to the uk keyboard layout and can usually touchtype without having to refer to the keyboard itself). The g19s (like the g19) uses a membrane rather than a mechanical switch. The differences between this and the g19 are minimal and mostly cosmetic. This keyboard therefore is powered like the g19, having a separate power supply for lighting the keys, powering the lcd and the powering the 2 port usb-2 hub it contains. It still uses the logitech gaming software to configure the profiles you can store using the m1-m3 buttons, with each profile being able to have the 12 macro ‘g’ keys configured separately as well as its own keyboard colour setting.
Functions you didnt realise you needed until you had one of these beautiesloving the programmable macros, choice of button lighting and handy display, well worth the extra pennies :).
I should have read all the reviews first as i didn’t know it had to be plugged in luckily i have one spare socket next to my pc that i have had to use to plug this keyboard into. Never really thought you would have such a powerful keyboard that would need plugging in as well as a usb connection. Excellent keyboard upgraded from g15 that i have had for years, have tried others i haven’t found anything to compare to logitech. This keyboard was a little expensive it was around £145. I can view my teamspeak3 i usually use my second screen but now i can use the keyboard.
Because of an injury in my right hand, i found in this keyboard an ideal solution to my problem, since i can assign a host of commands and functions to the keys located at the left side of the keyboard (i happen to be left-handed). I am currently working as a writer on a predecessor of g19s, namely a g510s keyboard, that i find quite adequate for my writing exigences. I am no gamer, so i don’t take advantage of its gaming potential. I bought the g19s, as a backup, in case logitech would issue a different approach; namely issuing a different design, not involving key combinations. My sole complain is that the lighting of the keys is too faint.
Took a couple of days to get used to but now i am used to it i love it. Sometimes you have to hold a button down hard while playing games but it does not bother me now.
Leaves the competition behind by a long way. I build my own computers and never skimp on price, for others, family/friends i would specify but not force due to price. Who in there right mind would spend this much on a keyboard, oh yea, me.

Now i wouldn’t i’m a massive gamer to the extent i need a the latest keyboard, but looking at my rig, a decent keyboard is what i was lacking. So here we have the logitech g19s, an upgrade on the lesser g19. Now this review is from a user without a decent keyboard, those who have a good gaming keyboard may want to read too before spending a’lot of cash on this. Out of the box and setup – its packaged well and comes in the usual kinda boxing. Inside you will find a small booklet, leaflets etc. The keyboard itself and the mains plug. Setting up is easy, first download the required software from logitech’s website, when installed, plug your keyboard in the wall and into the usb port, usb 2. The software is easy to launch into and setup is in seconds.
