MAD CATZ Mad Catz RAT8 Wired Optical Gaming Mouse -, available I couldn’t get my big hand to stay comfortable on this mouse with my palm style grip

The mouse is very good as a device. Amazon’s description from warehouse was not accurate. Labeled as very good condition but the reality was fair. A button was missing (backwards button) and was in used condition with more than light usage appeared.
I’ve had it for almost a year now and i’ve loved the customizability on this thing, which is also why i got it. I have longer hands than most, so from a lot of research this ended up being the best choice for me. . One of the buttons on the side of the mouse has plainly just fallen off. It already started feeling different from the other buttons after like 4 months, but i decided i could live with it. Now the button is not usable anymore, and it’s the ‘back’ button, which i also incidentally use for grenades in shooters and whatever have you. If this mouse was able to last, it would be an easy 5/5. But getting weird after 4 months and loosing a button after 10. Guess madcatz have a poor reputation for a reason :'(for reference on how hard i am on my stuff, i have 4 logitech mice lying around that still works perfectly with the oldest one being the first ever laser mouse (mx1000) from 2004-2005.
Great mouse, shame you cannot get any drivers for it. The download site is borked and been like that for months :(edit: stop the press, found some drivers/software that work. Not the best intuitive of software, but at least they workhttp://mirror.
Going into this having prior owned a madcatz r. 4 this mouse does for-fill all the purposes i need it for using my computer; both casual and competitive gaming, on top of electronic music creation and graphic designing. The mouse itself is a little light however i was prepared for this as it doesn’t have the weight adjustments; for the price and software i would’ve liked to have some colour customisation however i am aware this is available in more advanced versions on the r. A minor issue i had with custom macro’s on the madcatz software is that occasionally having the software user interface open would often cause other applications to crash when a macro is hit; one it even forced windows to have a bluescreen, however this was only in the first week or so of using the mouse; and now after using it for two weeks on macs, windows machines and laptops i can safely say that this issue is now non existent. The mouse design itself is more down to personal taste; the design itself is very ergonomic for the way i use mice however if you grip your mouse in a slightly unusual fashion you may have troubles getting used to the design of this mouse; the additional mouse buttons are well placed and don’t get in the way nor are they a pain to use. Overall its a solid product and it suits all the purposes i bought it for.
The mouse itself is great, but mad catz seem to have gone out of business and so you will have to track down the software and pay for iti tried to contact the seller on this point but they have just not responded. So think, is it worth the money for an end of line piece of kit?. Just glad i didnt bit the 8.
The best fps mouse i’ve used. The screw was too tight at pinkie rest(hurt my fingertips) but not a deal breaker.
High quality mouse, best feeling mouse i’ve have for years. Not fully functional out the box is the one disappointment, it’s a pain to try and get it set up.

apart from that it all works fine. It has a really nice feel to it

Really good mouse and fits well in hand. Be careful if you are ordering this for use straight on table or conventional mousemats, as it works best on microfiber pads, but overall a great mouse and the program with it makes it easy to adjust to your preferences.
There seems to be a few issues with this mouse like if you try to put on one of the lights you can no longer click either mouse buttons. With mad catz basically dead as well don’t expect any drivers.
As mascara rest mouse goes it’s not the best to light and if you don’t have a mouse mat or mouse pad then it doesn’t respond first time i would go for the mad cats eat 7 or up.
Great mouse, switched from my old rat 3 to this beast, great mouse shame about mad catz this is truly a great mouse, especially for games like overwatch and csgo.
I bought a cheap replacement and couldn’t get use to it. Its nice to have a madcatz in my hand again. Brilliant mouse, looks the part also.
This gaming mouse is an absolute beast. I’ve been a big fan or rats and have been using them for over 5+ years. It’s comfortable, accessible and very configurable, the software is simple, easy to use and very effective. I’d recommend this mouse for any type of gamer or anyone who plays games as it’s easy to get to grips with.
T 5 lasted me for four years now i have been searching everywhere for replacements came across this little beaut and i got say it’s a very lovely mouse with its fancy lighting
however without the weights it feels light even when adjusting the grip can make it lighter but it doesn’t really matter to be fair it feels okdelivery was on time as usual with primei’m so happy with this r. T 4 in my hands it feels so good i just hope nothing happens to this one.

Inw first viewing and use takes a bit of getting used to but ergonomically really nice to use. Not sure why all arent this sort of design.
Great mouse – wanted to buy the x+ pro but that never got released, but need to upgrade and this is a large mouse for a medium hand. The extras you get are nice so you can have it your was easy to take apart. And nice amount of weights for customisation.
3, took me a few hours to get used to the different dpi but i got used to it pretty fast. Nice feel in the hand, much better build quality than a rat. The aim button on the side has a learning curve, it decreases dpi by half when pressed allowing you to ‘be more precise’ but to me it just means i have to figure out how to play on 2 dpi’s, still useful for photoshop and things like that thoughone major issue: the software support is basically gone with mad catz peripherals, after searching for a pretty damn long time i couldn’t find any software to run alongside the mouse for its programmable profiles. Drivers are out there but haven’t been updated in over a year, expect them to not be supported soon.
Long have i been looking for a sturdy mouse with full customisation this one you can change palm reach and weight, didn’t even know you could change the weight of a mouse.
I have a medium sized hand and this is very small even for me, and it was very light. Not my cup of tea but it might be yours.
Proper gaming mouse for that budget, the quality is up there, nice one mad catz.
With all the customisation options available i couldn’t get my big hand to stay comfortable on this mouse with my palm style grip. The pinkie rest was the most important thing for me, but the way the thing feels it just doesn’t work for me with that angle. Maybe if the mouse was a bit bigger and wider but just maybe.

The only reason this is getting 3 stars is because of the optical sensor in the mouse. The sensor makes it so you cannot turn the mouse sideways without it becoming less responsive, apart from that it all works fine. It has a really nice feel to it, especially for people with wider hands and it is adjustable. The buttons on the sides are comfy to use and the precision and dpi buttons can be reprogrammed if you don’t need their features, meaning the have more buttons. Overall very good mouse but let down by the sensor.
Anyone who has any second thoughts about getting this mouse, dont. I use it for bf1 bl ops and h1z1 and it is great. You can change the led clours, the colour modes and it has a nice braided cable. Yes madcatz are bankrupt but it has no input on how well this mouse works. So if you want a good looking rgb mouse that you can change the colour to suit ur set up get the rat 6 rgb mouse. You wont be disappointed one bit.
Great mouse; comfortable, lightweight and precise. I’m not a pc gamer so i didn’t buy one with all the extra buttons. I use it for photo editing which it’s perfect for. Very smooth movement on one of the mad catz mouse mats too.
I found this mouse so much easier to handle. I found i struggled too much with my disability with an ordinary mouse.
Great lightweight skeleton of a mouse. All of the buttons can be programmed using mad catz download, make sure you download the driver before trying to use the mouse program as it may not function correctly.
Originally an owner of an older rat 5 which has suffered much usage. Decided maybe i didn’t need the adjustable weights and decided to try this version out. It’s actually working awesomely.
