AmazonBasics Programmable Gaming Mouse | Adjustable 12 – Great for gaming

The amazonbasics programmable gaming mouse is a great product if you are right handed and male. Unfortunately for me, i am neither. It feels of good quality and works really well according to my husband feeling good in his larger hands. It can be adjusted with weights to make it more heavy and responsive.

This is a really good gaming mouse, but the addition of the two new buttons is in a slightly odd place for my son, and aren’t easy for him to use – this may be a hand size issue (he is fully grown, but has size 7 hands rather than the more common 8 for men. The right mouse is everything to a gamer, and this may be perfect for some. I have used a trackball i adored, wheras others found it impossible to use. Best thing to do is give it a go.

For an entry level gaming mouse this has plenty of good points. Its easy to set upresponsivesits nicely in the handhas a good weightcan be personalised to suit youit has been performing really well, the wire has gotten in the way a few times but that’s probably down to my desk and the things on it, if you have a neat and tidy area to work in you shouldn’t have a problem. It looks good, works well, doesnt have a big name but is perfectly designed for gaming so gets a thumbs up.

I’ve divided this review into sections in order of importance:comfort and feel: 👍 provided you’re right handed. =========================================this is a right handed mouse, so it curves to match the shape of that hand, and all of the extra buttons are positioned on the left side. I do think the curve makes it a little easier to hold, though i usually prefer ambidextrous mice with buttons on either side (like the steelseries sensei). There isn’t any rubber coating for grip, instead the plastic is textured. I actually like that, since it won’t wear out and should be easy to clean. The mouse without any additional weights is light enough for claw style grips, and it’s big enough to palm if you put some weights in it. I’ve mostly been playing gta5 online lately, alternating between using the controller for driving and the m&kb for shooting. It feels reliable and accurate. Dedicated buttons for increasing/decreasing dpi sensitivity mean you can switch quickly from flicking the cursor around your os at high sensitivity, to lining up headshots at low sensitivity. The buttons offer solid feedback and the scroll wheel, which seems to have a sort of metal coating, feels pretty sturdy – the scroll clicks are firmly delineated and there’s no mushiness.

I requested this one not for a gaming purpose but to have it with a laptop when something a lot better than a touch pad is needed which is quite often if you want to do something more than basic scrolling. Despite years working in it, i still find touch pads to be a bit poor especially with multi point gestures. All of this aggro disappears with a decent mouse. Even straight out the box and using the basic w10 driver for it, it was fine. In reality i am fine with most of the default settings on the buttons having got used to them over the years but clearly for those who want to fine tune their use, you have the disk to get all the bells and whistles. It has some very snazzy lights on it which i can see people will like. There is also a set of little weights supplied (they are attached to the packaging and are not loose or in the dvd section so make sure you don’t accidentally bin them. Compared to the high end mouse i have used, it doesn’t match its quality but it is nowhere near the price and as the functionally is equal, i’m not sure the expensive one is justified.

Even though this is amazonbasics the mouse itself is far from basic and sports some great features, particularly for gaming. The 9 button configuration is perfect for gamers, with 5 of them are located on the side making them easily accessible when in game play. The weight of the mouse is also perfect, this can be adjusted, but the default weight is ideal, not too light but still easy to move, overall this is a very well made mouse and is ideally suited for gaming pcs.

  • Does what it advertises
  • i require the software
  • Not the best quality but feature packed, just make sure you have a CD drive

I was in need of a new mouse, and this definitely fit the bill. To download the latest software for the mouse, there is a small sticker inside the box with a website address, which will provide what you need. There is also a small case of batteries inside the box that are used for the mouse. The mouse itself feels great in the hand, and it moves smoothly along the mat surface. You can program the buttons to suit your gaming needs too, which is great. A good choice for anyone wanting a new gaming mouse.

This right-handed mouse is fairly large and feels a little bulbous in the hand (and my hands certainly aren’t small), certainly not as comfortable as my logitech mx master (though that’s not a gaming mouse). The plastics used also feel a lot less premium and the mouse less solid, but in fairness this is a much cheaper mouse with different priorities and many other features. The wheel has a nicely damped scroll action and the buttons are reasonably tactile, if a little ‘clicky’. The mouse comes with five individual 5g weights (supplied in a neat little storage case) which you can insert under a flap on the underside of the mouse to provide a wide array of adjustability. It has a nylon wrapped cord to aid longevity (which is a good length at ~1. 8m), features no less than 9 programmable buttons, with a macro hot key to switch between three game modes (which neatly changes colour to identify which mode you’re in, if you can remember which colour is which). You can assign all of the buttons across the three modes using the supplied software (though see issue relating to this further below), which also features a macro manager, multiple profiles for even more customisation options, and game profile management. There is a wide range of dpi settings (options are 200/400/800/1200/1600/2400/3200/6400/12000) which you can assign to four different presets on the mouse (indicated by blue light bars on the top-left, by default using the m6 and m7 buttons on the front-left edge of the mouse). There is also a fifth preset called ‘smart dpi’ that you can’t change, though i’ve not used this in-depth as yet (and not sure i would fully trust it in the heat of battle). With such a wide range and being easy to switch sensitivity, this mouse should suit almost any game type or personal preference.

This is being used by my nephew who is – to us at least – a die-hard gamer, spending a lot of time at his computer. He’s been using a wi-fi mouse that we bought him for christmas, but now he’s trying out this new wired ‘amazonbasics’ mouse. He said that it was immediately better, being more immediately responsive and with excellent feel. The weight can be adjusted, and he likes it set to quite ‘heavy’; it’s smooth to move and scrolls and ‘clicks’ very positively. It seems like it will last a good long time, even with his heavy-handed use. All-in-all, for a ‘basic’ mouse – it’s pretty good.

Easy to set up and quick to respond.

For a basics mouse this is of high quality and has loads of features. There are supplied batteries too. For the latest drivers the address of the website is also supplied. The weight of the mouse can be adjusted. Tested by friends who are massive gamers and they just are so impressed. Faster response than a wireless mouse, feels chunky in hand. Right and left click are fast and reliable. Clean lines make this mouse look good on desk. As a normal day to day mouse this particular example works well too.
