JJC replacement Olympus LH-61D Lens Hood – Ok, but can’t put lens cap on with it fitted!
Bought it as a present and he seems happy with it. Cheaper than the official and the same item as far as i can see.
Good service and the hood does what it’s designed for.
Good quality replacement hood for the price. Fits my 40-150 r ed nicely with no light leakage. Fits in the medium xcsource neoprene lens bag (purchased on amazon – pack of three, see my review) with the hood mounted the right way round (not reversed).
Arrived in 4 days even though the free delivery stated it would take about 2 weeks. It will allow you to use a lens cap when fitted. It’s a lot cheaper than the olympus alternative, i don’t know why a piece of moulded plastic is so expensive.
A bit loose but it does what it is designed for. The plastic quality could be better but then again, it would not be so cheap.

Difficulte to fit and remove, you get what you pay for.
Looks as good as an olympus lens hood – a little tighter fit perhaps.
Horrified at the price of the original product in relation to that of the lens, i was pleased to spot this. I have tried at at the wider end and there is no perceptible cut-off. Therefore it will be adequate at the longer end of its range. It is well flocked internally and shares the same bayonet fitting as the lens it is aimed for and can be reversed over the ens for storage. A good choice and almost sensibly-priced.
And a lot cheaper, cannot understand how olympus can justify the price they charge for a piece of plastic. Fits reversible for carrying around and works perfectly.
I was a little worried about the fit after reading some reviews here, but it turned out to be perfect and pretty high quality as well. Glad i didn’t pay more for the original.
I have dealt with this person now on three separate occasions, and in each instancethe service was better than promised and i have no reservation in fully recommendingthem.
I looked at the price of the camera/lens makers lens hood and went strait on amazon. This jjc hood fits the lens as good as the lens makers at a third the price.
Not a perfect fit, so trick to get on the first time. You cannot get the lens cap on of off with this fitted, but that is par for the course with hoods for telephoto lens.

Seems to work – a bit stiff attaching for use but may well loosen over time. On the other hand seems a bit loose when attached in reverse for storage, but should help protect the lens. Much cheaper than the olympus original.
I bought my second one and am happy with it. There were 2 small lumps of plastic that i had to shave smooth first. After that the lenshood slides on smooth and felt good. If you want to know why lenshoods are so expensive, consider this: although the plastic injection costs less than one usd, you need a mold to inject the plastic into. Those tools are enourmously expensive. You can cut cost by making a cheaper mold like used here, let’s say a usd 5000 one. But then your products may suffer from occasional slight deformation and more often, bad fit due to pointy bits of plastic near the injection point. Cheaper molds also means that the injection points all too often appear in areas that are critical for a good working product. In this case right on the 2 bajonet ridges on the inside of the lenshood.
Bargain compared to olympus original and does the job beautifully.
At a quarter of the official olympus version, this has to be worth a go. Delivered fast and well packaged, and whilst it fits well, it is a very tight fit, which may loosen with age. Better than too loose though.
Good quality product at a very advantageous price. I use it pretty well all the time on the olympus mft 40-150 lens. It adds some protection as well and when walking around prevents the lens getting dinged on objects so i find i am not taking the lens cap on and off all the time. It fits neatly onto the lens and you can still use a polariser or other filter if required. You just have to carefully insert a finger into the hood without touching the filter element to be able to turn a circular polariser. Can be fitted loosely over the lens reversed when not in use, but not securely, just when put back in the bag.
Fits on lens ok and is also easy to reverse onto lens.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Cheap but very OK after small adjustment
- Nice product for the price, well worthwhile
- A more sensible alternative to the Olympus product

This lens hood is much less than oem olympus ones and does the trick.
I bought this because it is much cheaper than the olympus version but does a great job.
