TAMRON 18 – 200 mm DiII Zoom Lens : It’s a fair “all purpose” zoom lens.

Bought this as i was fed up carrying 2 or 3 lens about all the time. This does exactly what i want and more. Sturdy build and good quality pictures from this. Yes there are better out there but for the price i’m more than happy. Ideal for beginner or enthusiast.

Great all round lens, punches well above it’s weight with great price, took some great images with this lens.

Good lens offering a super range from 18mm to 200mm at an affordable price. Easy to fit, comes with a glare filter. Nice and light and oh so easy to work with.

Excellent alternative for canon. . Daughter loved this for christmas and at a great price. Ordered one day ane delivered within 24 hours.

This lens has become the one i use almost constantly, not only because of the focal range, but also the quality of the photos i’m producing. A well built and lightweight lens with a tamron 5 year guarantee at a very affordable price.

I stopped using my other lenses when on short trips as this one is perfect for close ups and at distance.

Small and light enough to take away on holiday to save lugging several heavier lenses around with me, plus the extra hand luggage at the airport. The glass is ok, but obviously not as good as my usual lenses, but does the job surprisingly well. I always shoot in raw mode, so any final tweaks can be made later with good results.

Absolutely fantastic lens; i use it on my canon 100d to replace the 18-50 & 75-300 provided but the tamron is lighter, bigger and comes with more options, the build quality is perfect and i can’t think of anything less to say, highly recommended .

  • So far, so good

  • 3 Di II VC Black is a very useful lens. I bought this as a walkabout lens

  • It is a very good lens outdoor

This lens is a great all-rounder. Best used in light situations and outside. Not the sharpest of images if you are a pixel peeper.Focus can be a bit hit and miss i found. I would definitely buy another tamron lens in the future. This is used on my canon eos 100d. I am very happy with my purchase.

Sturdy – i don’t think that the ‘lock’ function is needed as i haven’t detected any barrel creep – i leave it off. There is no play in the telephoto extension. Maybe the images are a little softer at the extreme telephoto settings, and slight barrel and pincushion effects at extremes. Overall a very good and sharp lens for the enthusiast. (sample images reduced in size for easier uploading).

Superb carry around lens, (i. Can cover multiple situations ). Very useful when travelling and need to cut down on weight. I bought this to replace my previous tamron 18 – 200 which my wife uses so often i need my ownboth are excellent quality, particularly for the low cost.

Bought this as a replacement for the ‘dead’ (would not autofocus) kit 18-55mm. It’s a little heavy, but instead of the wife carrying around both the kit lenses (18-55mm and 55-250mm) and switching, this lens does it all for her. Autofocus isn’t quite as fast, but works. Image quality is on par with the kit lenses and she is happy. The tamron is on a canon t2i.

It does what it says on the tin. For the price this is an excellent bargain. Thoroughly recommend this lens.

Awesome lens paired it with a nikon d5300 as a work setup for photographing outdoor sports works perfectly. Doesn’t claim to be weather sealed but i have got it wet in a canyon more than once and it just keeps going. Great picture quality as well. My clients have been very happy with their shots.

Good all round lens but won’t take the place of a 17-70/18-85 for most subjects. On the other hand, the 200mm zoom means that you can get away with only carrying the one lens if you’re travelling light. Only really marked it down because it’s not so good when the light goes down unless you’ve got the tripod handy and a subject that isn’t moving; and because it’s a plastic fitting rather than metal (so more likely to break if dropped).

I ordered two of these one for me and one for my wife so we did not have to take additional lenses on holiday. We are both so pleased with the quality of pictures, ease of fitting and compactness of the lens it has already become the default lens for our cameras. Really excellent product for the money.

Only autofocus through the eye piece. It is almost impossible to manually focus on anything so is tricky to use in low light. On the plus side it’s quite good in daylight and using single point focus. Returned this to get a different product.

Been using this a while now. Great lens with a versatile range. Smooth and quick af feature although it does struggle in low light which is to be expected.

Works well feels solid and on auto is quiet. All in all a very good lens.

It’s a fair “all purpose” zoom lens: i tested it already with thousand of pictures. You can’t expect the performances of a professional lens but is more than adequate for most users: tourism and landscapes are the best occasion to use it. The autofocus is pretty fast and accurate even with low lights but i use a single point focus so it can be just my option. At the maximum extension you can spot some diffraction on high lights but i’m a night photographer and, again, does not impact me. Feels solid and sturdy in hand but not too heavy, it’s slightly bigger and heavier than the standard kit lens (18-55mm) from nikon but the difference is really useful for the extension of focal length. As usual: if you need a specific lens because you know what are you doing buy a prime lens, if you need an “one size fit all” this is a good option, much better than the chinese alternatives.

Having been looking for an additional lens for my nikon, i think this is a great all-rounder. It’s light weight, the vc seems to work perfectly as too does the auto focus. I’m an amateur and wasn’t looking to spend a fortune or nearly three times the cost on the nikon one so top marks for this great lens. Really pleased with this purchase.

It is a very good lens outdoor. The images are as sharp as nikon at low magnification. However, at higher mag (over 100mm) the light tend to drop quickly, hence shutter speed drops and good quality pictures can become tricky to gather. It is more true when light gets darker, and forget about using it at night. Autofocus works well when amount of light is enough, again, darker it gets, more strangly it acts. The motor will step up and down in a funny way and never get the focus correctly. It is worth the money as the nikon equivalent is 2. 5x the price, and i’m not sure it would get better quality anyway as it is tricky for lenses 18-200/18-300 types to be efficient all the way.

I bought this lens to save keep swapping from my 18-55 and 75-300. As a general, all purpose lens it is superb and a fraction of the cost of a genuine canon lens, plus it has the added bonus of image stabilization. A brilliant, all purpose lens.

I can say that so far so good. If you have a nikon or sony camera then you to are covered. It seems to me that this lens is worth the money.

I baught this lense so i could have an 18-200 on my 700 d as well as my 7d. I got it off the ‘other offers’ section where it was advertised as ‘like new’ at £150. When it arrived it lived up to description, it really is like new. Not a mark or scratch on it. Having been a photographer for over forty years i’ve used tamron lenses in the past and have never had a bad one. This one is no exception, smooth action, good auto focus and sharp results. Not only that but getting it for £150 meant that the other items i baught that day were as good as free seeing as the price of a brand new lense at that time was £ 189. It’s always worthwhile checking the ‘ other offers ‘ section there are bagians out there.

Bought this lens for travelling as i do not want to be laden down with different lenses. Tried it out over the last few weeks and am very pleased with it. Will see how it is after 3 weeks travelling around thailand.

Can’t fault the lens, a bit heavy on my m50 i do have the non vc one and thought i’d upgrade to this one but unfortunely had to return this lens i bought. As when i tried to sign up for the 5 year warrenty and contacting tamron i found out the one i was sent from amazon was a grey market it one and doesn’t have warranty with it as tamron is very strict on that rule and said to send it back. It is a lot better lense than my kit ones on my m50 and love having just one zoom lense when travelling or days out and saves time swapping lenses. Great image quality and value for money.

This lens is perfect for anyone on a budget who needs a wide zoom range. Works excellent on the nikon d3200, pictures appear sharp and crisp with great colour. However, as with all budget equipment it does have it’s downsides. The autofocus has a habit of not getting fully focused, whereas my nikkor lens doesn’t struggle at all. Also some parts feel like they may have a short life, ie the locking switch for the lens. On the other hand, the zoom range is amazing and when the autofocus works (usually does) the results are fantastic. The vibration correction in this lens is also absolutely brilliant, at 200mm you can easily get a fantastic picture without the need for a tripod. To sum up, definitely a great lens and perfect for anyone on a budget looking for high zoom range and a wide range of scenes/environments.

Not had for the money, but not as sharp as a canon zoom or sigma. I tried this lens against a non-is sigma lense which is about 9 years old and the sigma gave a far sharper, cleaner image. Returned the lens as my older non image stabilised lens from sigma was better.

I am an enthusiast photographer who simply enjoys his hobby and have been fortunate to be able to afford my equipment for 40 years or so. I also enjoy travel, but due to retiring early i find that i have to compromise now when i purchase equipment to get the best ‘bang per buck’. Whilst i have enjoyed my travel photography both near and far, it has become more of a challenge due to the changes in security home and abroad and the restrictions in cabin hand luggage weight. Combine this with the fact that carrying my preferred kit of sigma 10-20, either canon prime 40mm or 50mm and canon 55-250 lenses when on a city tour has become more of a chore, primarily weight but compounded by the fact that my bag was searched recently on 4 occasions during a trip to genoa in a single morning. Drastic action was required, either purchase one of the excellent small cameras available (but high priced) or purchase a generic lens of mixed focal length which i could fit on one of my two aps-c cameras, a 550d and a 750d; the former mainly used now for macro work. I looked at three lenses, this tamron and its non stabilised 11 year old predecessor at £99. 99 (fantastic value), and the canon 18-135. I liked the tamron budget lens, but compared to the optics on this lens, it really is worth the extra £60. 00 for the quality alone, let alone the stabilisation, which its predecessor does not possess. I really felt that the canon lens suited my purposes well and the image quality and speed of focus i thought were better than this lens and it also focussed more quietly, but it was over £100 more and so i purchased this lens from jessops at a slightly higher price than amazon; they let me test it side by side with the canon in their shop and gave me some advice, so i felt duty bound to purchase after taking advantage of them.

This is just as good, lighter weight, and vest of all.

I recently purchased a nikon d3300 dslr but decided to buy ‘body only’ so that i had the freedom to add a lens other than the standard 18-55 supplied. After a fair bit of research i found this tamron 18-200 lens. I wanted a camera lens that would offer versatility (without the nikon price tag) so that i wouldn’t have to carry a number of different lenses, weighing me down, switching them over all the time etc. The lens arrived the next day via prime, came with an instruction leaflet, lens cap, and petal lens hood. It was extremely simple to attach it to my nikon camera and it fit perfectly. I have since taken a number of shots of varying styles e. Macro shots of family members and pets; landscape shots and distance shots so that i could use the full zoom. I haven’t been disappointed with a single picture that this lens has produced. The clarity is amazing – from the detail on a christmas decoration, to the wrinkles on my dad’s face (though i don’t think he appreciated that as much as i did) i’ve included a couple of photos so that you can see the level of detail.

The tamron 18-200mm lens b018n f / 3. 3 di ii vc black is a very useful lens. I bought this as a walkabout lens, it gives a reasonable range on a crop sensor camera (this is not suitable for a full frame camera) and it is very cheap for what you get. No but you would not expect it to be on a sub £170 lens. What it gives you is versatility, the ability to do wide angle shots and to zoom in close when required. It doesn’t have the fastest focus but it is not a slouch by any means. The focus will hunt, especially if you are close looking a something thin, an insect on a thin branch for example, it will try to hunt further back. I get around this by manually focusing enough to get the object central and then let the af take over and that seems to work. Picture quality is a little soft, but you can use that, if you look at the photo’s i have added this will give you an impression of what it is capable of. If you are on a budget this is a good walk about lens, there won’t be many situations that this lens won’t cover. It is not suitable for sports due to focus speed, and low light light can be a little challenging but not insurmountable. Over all i have enjoyed this lens, it has a few minor short comings, but fun to use and it makes you think about the photo you are taking and so improves you as a photographer in my opinion. Recommended for those like me on a budget.

Tamron lenses are always of good quality – this one with its wide focal range gives the versatilty so saves carrying 2 or more prime lenses when on holiday/excursions/trips.

Excellent lens for my nikon d5200. Bought as a replacement for an ailing 18-125mm lens. This lens feels very similar to the old lens and is not much larger despite the extra 75mm of focal length. Results are crisp and clear and the image stabiliser works well. The only snag that i found was that the included lens hood was a little too small and vignetting was evident at the lowest focal length. This has been overcome with the attachment of a stepping ring and a much larger lens hood which i happened to have handy.

A professional photographer told me about the high quality of tamron lenses and advised me to buy them for my nikon camera. It was good advice and this is the second one i have bought. Excellent quality and easy to use.
