AUKEY Mechanical Keyboard LED Backlit Gaming Keyboard : Nice keyboard
At first i was very pleased with this keyboard. It installed without any problems, the keys are nice and have a satisfying click to them, responding well to key presses both whilst typing and whilst gaming and there has been no key wear despite four months of continual daily use. There’s no input delay that i can detect or that causes any issues, and the lights are strong without being blinding. I do love my rainbow shinies. Unfortunately since day 1 it has had an issue with the 0 key on the number pad sticking intermittently. As this was a minor issue and was easily rectified just by manually lifting it and i didn’t see it as an issue enough to complain about. [edited]: i had thought this issue had escalated to the 0 key completely failing, but with further troubleshooting have determined it was a software conflict. With that particular software closed, the 0 key still works, but due to the sticking still being an ongoing issue i am only amending my score from 3 to 4.
Alright, usually i do 5*s and minus one for every fault i find. I’ll list them as following:1. One of the most important points is stability, when standing it up the bottom right side is slightly lower so i have to put paper under that side so that i can type without it constantly hitting the table. The keys don’t have the greatest feel. Usually mechanical keyboards are build for accuracy and each and every key is easily distinguishable. Here, i find that my fingers usually slide along most of the keys so that it doesn’t have as nice a feel as my old one. Other than that, everything else is good. , i bought this while it was on sale for £29 and i do think that it’s worth it. They also throw in a free key remover to replace the keys (switched half of them with my old keyboard). It’s also a european keyboard so as you can see from the picture, it has every key and the number pad on the side compared to other versions with similar prices. Edit: after some talking with their customer support team (who are very friendly by the way, i really can’t recommend enough how good they are at their jobs) they’ve given me a full refund on my keyboard and are sending me a replacement for the current keyboard. 5* service, so i’ll leave a 5* review. I’ll edit this again when i receive the new keyboard. Also for the current keyboard here, i didn’t mention it earlier since i didn’t know about it but it comes with a 2 year warranty, which is pretty nice. The new keyboard is amazing. I asked for the same keyboard without the lighting for my replacement (since i wanted to see what it was like without the lighting, the lighting itself works great) and it has definitely exceeded my expectations. I thought they would just give me a new keyboard with the balance fixed, so that it wouldn’t require a voucher booklet under one of the corners to stop the wobble, but it seems as if they also changed the keys itself to be ‘rougher’ so that the feel is a lot better for a keyboard which i asked for earlier in this review. I really didn’t expect this kind of change, and i love it. I would 100% buy from these guys again not just for their great keyboard, but also because both their customer service team is amazing at communicating with the customers, and the r&d department can make changes to their product based on what users want if a problem arises.
Just as i expected, maybe even better. Perfect for office work as well as for gaming. Works perfectly with the ludos gaming mouse that i also purchased. Love this product, has to be my best purchase yet. Would highly recommend it for you gamers out there. Love the colour and effect it gives off while gaming, gets you into the zone. Comes with additional keyboard keys to switch up to a different colour to make it easier for gaming.
I’ve been using the keyboard for just about a week now and i can say i love every bit of it. It may not have all the fancy programmable settings that higher end backlit keyboards offer, but it does come with some useful presets. Too bad each row has its predefined colour and there’s noway to have a monochrome backlight. Other than that, outemo blue switches are similar to the original cherry mx ones. They are very clicky and the feedback you get from each switch is really satisfying. It’s not a downside for me, but the bottoming out sound is loud, so if you need a quiet keyboard, this is most likely not the keyboard for you. Look for something with brown switches, as they are generally quieter for typing. Other than that, for the price, you are getting a solid keyboard with surprisingly great build quality. As of now (september 2017) i can confidently recommend this product if you are looking into buying a mechanical keyboard that doesn’t cost an arm and leg. If you are into customising the backlight the way you want, you should probably look for something a tad more expensive.
I don’t play games very often but type quite a lot – both documents and code – and after a lifetime of using membrane keyboards, i decided to try one that was mechanically switched. This was reasonably priced and seemed worth a try. When the keyboard arrived i was pleasantly surprised by it’s substantial weight and overall quality feel. The base is clad in painted metal and doesn’t flex or creak, the keys are hard plastic with a slightly rubberized texture that has a premium feel, and the key action feels like it could put up with any amount of abuse. I don’t look down at the keyboard very often so don’t really notice the multi-coloured lighting, but one downside to the way the keys are backlit is that its hard to see some of the lower characters on the keys, especially in bright light. For example, it’s hard to make out the forward slash beneath the question mark. The keys make a loud, slightly metalic clicking sound that’s a little off putting at first, but once i got used to it i found it strangely satisfying. The constant rapid fire of clicks seems to imbue your work with a sense of productivity and purpose. Other than the visibility of some of the characters i can’t fault this. Keyboards are a matter of personal preference but if you have never used a mechanical keyboard then i recommend you try this one out.
I love this keyboard, i don’t use for gaming so can’t comment on that side of things, but i use it more than 8 hours a day and love topping with it, i do have to more myself on conference calls if i’m typing as it’s very long, but that’s what i like about it. It would be good if i could set all leds yo the same colour but hey ho, it still looks great. Feels very solid, doesn’t move when typing. If you are thinking about a mechanical keyboard, get it, you won’t be disappointed.
With this keyboard (which i am using right now to write this review). I was quite surprised by the amount of lights that magically came up as i plugged the usb into my laptop. So we have the first row of the qwerty keyboard turning a fluorescent green, then the second row a crimson red and the third and final row a pungent pink. Though it is clunky and makes an audible sound each time that you press on the key tile, one of the benefits that this keyboard has is the fact that you can use this for gaming which i found rather helpful as i don’t always have to reach over and use the keys that are on my laptop’s keyboard. Instead, i can just have the aukey keyboard resting on my lap and press each button as i see the letters appear on the screen. I like the design, very colourful, and i like the fact that it has a stand so it can stand up on a table if necessary. Overall, a very well designed and creative keyboard that does the job perfectly fine.
Brilliant keyboard, i just wanted a keyboard that entered what i typed even if i slightly miss-hit or only gently hit the key. I decided to go for a mechanical key keyboard as the membrane keyboards are not as responsive and dont last. I am a (retired) computer technician and i have used literally thousands of keyboards, but this is the best one i have ever used. The lights are a bonus but not really my thing, although the mode that lights the key when you press it is useful when entering passwords (that do not show on screen) as you can see what you entered. It seems very well built, is very heavy and stable, the only downside is it is very noisy and may annoy other people – oh well. Nearly forgot, it is a proper uk keyboard with £ $ % # @ all in the correct place and working.

i was using number of most expensive keyboards (logitech g910, corsair k95 rgb or razer widow v2). Those are very tactile, a bit clicky, i would say that louder than mx brown, and logitech g910 switches but much more pleasant to type. I am a software engineer contractor so i type a lot, this keyboard increase typing speed and overall quality of typing. I would say that it is a killer keyboard for £39. Btw you will stop being excited about rgb after ~ 2 days ;). As long there is a light you will be good. This keyboard can be customised key by key from a keyboard (no software for that), also has number of different lighting styles.
This is my first mechanical keyboard with blue switches. I use it in an office with just one other user. It would be slightly too clacky for the other main office and i find a certain “harshness” in the sound of some of the keys but it is undoubtedly satisfying to use. I still prefer my das keyboard pro 4 – just about – because the of the smoothness of the brown switches. On the other hand this is a good looking and compact full-sized keyboard which is easy to clean as the keys are exposed and not set into a plastic surround. The keycaps are nice and clear. This is billed as a gaming keyboard but i use it in an office environment with no issues – note there are no dedicated macro buttons. In terms of price this is great value for money. There are pseudo-mechanical feel keyboards out there for this sort of money or even more. I would honestly buy another one if it was available with brown switches.
Great keyboard, nice rgb and solid base & key design. The keyboard is heavy, and sits planted on the desk in front of you — i find this useful. User experience — i have a good few pc’s and laptop, which i use frequently for various tasks. I am used to lots of different types of keyboards. For me, this keyboard has a lot of key travel, and i find i have to type slightly slower (or else i make a load of mistakes), i am using the keyboard for a month now, and i will likely get more used to it. One big difference is that the mechanical noise of the keys being pressed is very loud. If you have an environment and the capacity to put up with the noise, then all is fine. If not, then i would suggest you getting a more quiet keyboard. 5 stars as it does exactly what it says it does, and does it very well.
I have always had problems with hitting multiple keys when i type fast. I’ve had this for over a week now and not a single wrong or multiple keystroke. The only reservation i have is that some of the keys, especially the numbers, do not stand out very well in dim light and the internal lighting does not come through those. This is very retro, very noisy and quite large but it works amazingly well and that matters more than looks. Also, supposed to last much longer then the standard keyboards, as well.
My main gripe for this is that for gaming it’s great, but for general day to day use less so. The keys on the bottom line are almost impossible to see the ,. / items on the keys, and selecting other functions such as -= are equally almost as impossible to see. Keys feel good (similar to my cherry keyboard from years ago) – but keys really need to be clearer if you ever want to type.
First of all – the keys feel lovely to type on, they are responsive and reliable. Mechanically i cannot find a fault with the keyboard. The keyboard is also pleasingly rugged and does not slide around, wobble or bend. Edit: my mostly minor issues with the keyboard were addressed by the seller (without my asking) in the form of a refund. So even though there were issues with keyboard, those weren’t critical problems for me and the customer service makes this a 5*however. The keys only have an illumination bulb on the top side of the switch – this means that on the number rows (and every other – but it is most noticeable on the numbers) the symbols at the top of the key ‘£$% etc are fully illuminated the numbers underneath aren’t illuminated at all. Because the numbers are built for a light with a transparent layer, they are almost invisible under anything other than full lighting. The small symbols such as ,. ‘ suffer even more from being invisible. I can’t imagine how someone would use this keyboard unless they were already near to touch typist proficiency.
Purchased as a cheap replacement for my corsair k70 rgb mk. 2 which i destroyed accidentaly with liquid damage. This is a good, cheap mechanical keyboard. The switches are carbon copies of cherry mx’s design – which is perfectly fine. They feel just like genuine cherry switches. My only gripe with the product so far is that my keyboard has a lovely crack in the top left corner, on the ‘outer’ part of the keyboard casing. Clearly this had been dropped at some point prior to delivery. But it’s something i’m gonna have to live with because i can’t be arsed spending more money, or waiting days for a replacement. Only major gripe with it, is the short usb cable. I had to use a usb extension cable which i thankfully already had at hand.
Ordered this yesterday, it arrived today, plugged it into my main computer and i am typing on it now. If you are used to cherry mx blue switches, and like them, you are going to like the outemu blue switches used in this keyboard. It is always going to be a little subjective, but to me, the switches are even ‘clickier’ than the cherry mx blue version. The action is quite positive, quite long travel and requires a fairly hefty press to actuate the stroke. If you have a very light touch when you type, this board might not be for you. If, however, you are a slightly heavier handed typist, or an outright keyboard thumper like me, these keys are exactly what you need. Action is positive, very audible and the typing experience is very satisfying indeed. I have paid more than three times the price of this board, for an inferior typing experience, quite how aukey have managed to produce this keyboard at this price point is a little bit of a mystery to me. The backlighting is subtle, and not as configurable as some more expensive offerings. The user is limited to one colour led per row of keys and this cannot be changed, which isn’t a problem for me, but might affect some people’s purchasing choice.
It is uk layout (google the difference in uk and us), the colour of each key is set, but there are many lighting patterns, including reactive ones (like ripple around the key you pressed). The power cable is not removable. It has a windows key lock function which is nice for gamers. Most of the fn shortcuts are useful. I did not realise that the keyboard comes with 9 extra key caps, (wasd, esc, and arrow keys), these are luminescent orange, and a more gamery font. I’ve switched out wasd, and it looks quite good. So from my perspective, i’ve used cheap membrane keyboards all my life, and this feels so much better than those to type on, and a bit better for gaming. The keys are very loud, so privacy is key imo, the noise is satisfying for yourself, but in a shared office/ shared living space, it would be very annoying for friends and family. I personally keep the lighting as a solid on at full brightness, the effects are mostly distracting and when the keys are not lit up the lettering can be hard to see (even though i know where everything is, it’s still nice to see them.

I have been using this keyboard for about a month now and it’s in perfect working condition. This keyboard has changed my view on mechanical keyboards. Before buying this i’ve been using a dell membrane keyboard which looked like its been bought in 2001. I’ve been using it for mostly games and school work. But after buying this keyboard i’ve fallen in love with mechanical keyboards. Before buying this keyboard i wanted a mx brown switch keyboard but due to how inexpensive this keyboard was i decided to by this instead. This is however my first mechanical keyboard so i may be a bit bias. This keyboards lights are amazing however this isn’t programmable or rgb but rather 7 colours. I don’t think this would make a difference. Typing feels amazing on this keyboard but for me i didn’t see it being useful in games.
This is a dream keyboard for someone who has used membrane keyboards most of his life. There are generally less typo errors due to the size of the keys and the click feedback, which always reminds me of computing in the 80’s lol. The back light is very good but with one flaw on my model/revision/version (whatever). The back lighting is insufficient for some of the bottom row symbols to be shown on the keys, and the purple back light for the number row does not illuminate the actual printed numbers ( and yes, i have put it up to max brightness and have the “all” key scheme). This isn’t 100% needed because we all know where to go for the numbers generally; however i am a little disappointed about the number situation. I wish the green led was the number row because these are the brightesthowever, this is a personal critisism, and as far as mechanical keyboards go, its a brilliant value for money keyboard.
It is fun to use and very satisfying. Much nicer than my boring viglen keyboard at work. It definitely seems to help with typos (or help with stopping me from making so many typos) which is weird. Anyway, i’m glad i bought it. I hope it lasts a long time. The lights are a nice touch although for me the clicky claky noise and the reassuring weight (it’s never going to slide around on my desktop) which are the real selling points for me.
Having trained as a touch-typist, that is to say one who uses eight fingers and a thumb, i have never been happy with the standard computer keyboards which are more suitable for two-finger typists since it is very difficult to know just where ones fingers are without looking at the keyboard. This aukey is my first mechanical keyboard and i must say it has a similar feel to a typewriter keyboard, the keys depress by a good half centimetre, accompanied by an authentic ‘clack. ‘ it inspires great confidence and i am returning to my original typing speed.
I’ve had this keyboard for 10 months now, having bought it for myself as a treat for getting a new job. I use this as my office keyboard so it gets hours of use every day. In short, this is a great mechanical keyboard. It’s solid and responsive, and in my opinion, excellent value for the price. I do not use this keyboard for gaming so unable to comment on its usefulness in this respect. The review asked me to rate ‘light weight’ which i declined to do. This keyboard is not light weight, nor is it intended to be. If you want a light weight keyboard you might not want to go down the mechanical route. The only caveat being that if you share a room/office with other people you might drive them mad with the clicking noise. It is not a quiet keyboard but i did not expect it to be as it is mechanical and i have the benefit of having an office door i can shut so my colleagues do not have to tolerate the sound.
Only three stars i’m afraid as the keyboard has now developed a fault and only after 6 months of very light use. The fault is that it continually and randomly connects and then disconnects from windows 10. And yes, i have ensured the keyboard is configured to so it does not turn off to save power, both in the device and also in all the usb hub and other usb settings under device manager. I have tried different keyboards and had no issue at all. What a shame as i have now gone past the point in which i can contact the seller for a replacement as i love the feel of this keyboard. Although quite loud in operation, i love the classic click clack sound and feel, the led’s which are a nessesity for darker rooms and small footprint for small or tight desks. I would have given it 5 stars if it lasted a couple of years. **** update ****i have since heard from the supplier just by submitting this review and they have offered a replacement at no charge and they do not expect the original back. I have received the keyboard and put it back into operation and so far so good, no issues.
In fact im writing this review on it now. The keys are very clicky and make a great sound and feel. The cable is plastic this could of been braided
but great non the less. Comes with loads of preset functions like the ripple effect and pulsating lights. Has lots of function keys great for shortcuts and the colors are even and bright.
this is just what i wanted. I’ve been buying £50-£80 mechanical keyboards. I’ve had to return some, but this keyboard is a keeper. Compare to my current cherry black, responsive touch and that old click sound. This one also have fancy leds. That’s so great, but i rarely look at my keyboard anyway when i’m typing. The aukey keyboard has a good weight to it and it is really solid on the desk, no movement at all.
A very clicky keyboard, almost too much during the night, but i think that’s part of the appeal. Clear backlit keycaps, solid stable weight, and great price. The only con, one that i feel is pretty objective, is that the 3 engaged lights (for capslock, etc) are quite hidden by the tall keycaps, making it easier to forget when you’re ‘locked’ into one of those modes.

Great keyboard, built like rocking horse s**t. Very solid build, with responsive keys. It uses outemu keys which are quire compared to cherry. These are blue, so very responsive but at the same time very loud. If that’s your thing then this is a great keyboard at a good price. The keyboard itself features rgb lighting, this doesn’t support per key customisation but does off some customisation based on several presets.
The keyboard is heavy comparing to the regular keyboard, which means solid build. I like the stylish design and nice quality. The typing experience, sound and response are excellent for me. There are some spare orange key caps especially for gamers. I like the flat base design, it’s excellent for letting water flow away in certain accident, and it’s much easier to clean the dust when needed.
After many years of poor typing technique, i have been persuaded that i should learn to touch type, and that a mechanical keyboard would be very helpful. I didn’t want to spend too much money on a type of keyboard that i wasn’t even sure i would even like, and this seemed to fit the bill – somewhere between suspiciously cheap and a bit too pricey for something bought on a whim. I have been using it for several weeks now, and i do quite like it, but i’m still not sure i prefer it, mostly because of the sound. It is very noisy compared to the cheap keyboards that come packed as standard with pcs, and that has taken a bit of getting used to. The sound doesn’t bother me any more, but i have been told by other people in the house that it is quite annoying. I don’t think this would be very welcome in a shared office. I can’t say how well it works for gaming, but i like how it feels to type on. It is quite a bit heavier than the cheap keyboards most of us are used to, which makes it feel very solid and well built. It also seems to take up less space on the desk – i think because there is less space around the edges. The light-up keys are an interesting novelty for a non-gamer and i like how it looks on my desk.
Got this for myself for christmas 2017, and am very satisfied with this. Haven’t messed around with the led setup, but there are options there for which keys get lit. Note that it isn’t full rgb on each row, you get a diff colour across each row – doesn’t bother me but might not be what everyone is looking for. Still, a great price for a nice, solid, glowy, clicky keyboard. Could be a bit loud for others if you do a lot of typing in a shared household, but for gaming it doesn’t seem to be a problem. Keys are black with clear cutout shapes for the characters and it came with a selection of orange keycaps for wasd (and i think arrows as well), for extra gaminess. When i was looking at the various keyboards to buy, i noticed a slightly cheaper version of this, but on closer examination, noticed that the other, cheaper one was a us layout, this is definitely uk (ie ‘£~@ are where they should be).
I bought this primarily for programming and typing, as i was looking for a mechanical keyboard with a fair degree of weight in the action. I’ve previously used an aukey keyboard with blue switches (it was at an old job, not my property), and was looking for the same model. Sadly, it wasn’t available, so i moved to this one, which has the same keys and the same action. The last one i used was missing the numeric keypad, so this is a step up in one way. But overall, i’m less happy with this one than the last. It’s a lot noisier despite having the same key units. The clicking seems to be transmitted through the keyboard chassis to the springs on the other keys and the every keypress results in a boingy ring reverberating across the board. Putting it on a soft surface (sticking a mousemat between the keyboard and my desk) makes no noticeable difference to the sound. The previous keyboard had a slight ring, but it’s far more noticeable in this one. With the leds off, key markings are pretty faint (in grey on matte black) and smaller key markings (eg ,.
It is one of the cheapest full-size mechanical keyboards on the market, however that does not mean aukey have skimped – the keys are wonderfully clicky, i have had no issues with key ghosting, and the caps and switches are very tactile and responsivei think the led effects are a little gimicky, and the leds are fixed so you can’t change the colours – but apart from that i love it.
Very fast delivery as usual by amazon. I am now writing the review with the keyboard, enjoying it so far. This is the third mechanical keyboard i own. First one is an expensive das-keyboard, same blue clicky-key(attached is a picture side by side with this new keyboard). Second one is a mini good value brown key keyboard, loving it. First impression is aukey is a lot louder than the das-keyboard with more key travel distance. To be frank, i prefer the feeling my das-keyboard a bit more at first, then i used this new keyboard for a while without touching das, i find myself enjoying the typing just as well as on das-keyboard. The keyboard has led lighting. Das-keyboard does not have backlighting. It may be good for some forks, but i am not a fan of keyboard backlighting, so i turn it off as soon as i can.

It arrived earlier today and everything was as advertised. It’s extremely nice to use in every way – satisfying key presses, wonderfully clicky sounds, rgb lighting a nice perk. Little details didn’t go unnoticed either – velcro cable tie, additional keys of a different color for wasd including a key puller and a generous 24 month guarantee. Cannot fault it at all for less than £40. Whether it holds up with heavy use remains to be seen but it feels absolutely solid so hopefully it will.
After having used a laptop keyboard for a while, switching to a proper gaming keyboard has been a revelation. The keys have a great feel too them, and the switches aren’t as loud as i thought they might be. Previous mechanical keyboards have been too loud but this one is just right.Led lights are a nice feature but not essential for me, and the inclusion of orange wasd etc. I haven’t been gaming as much as i used to but after using this mostly just for writing and the occasional game i’m really looking forward to putting it through it’s paces when i can do more gaming. It feels like a much more expensive keyboard than the price listed. Great bang for your buck/pound and i’d recommend this to anyone looking to get a mechanical keyboard, especially a first time buyer.
Up side – nice weight to it so its not going to move much if at all during a gaming session. Downside costing 2 stars – but i will have to get used to the slightly smaller keys compared to my old logitech g15 it replaced. Other minor down side is the locator nubs for the typing home keys of f and j are at the bottom of the key, so during normal typing its impossible to feel it as your finger tips hit the centre of the key. Finally all numbers except numpad are printed on and not backlit, as well as the ,. So it’s difficult to make out the printing on the keys.
Although this isn’t classed as high end like many other well known brands that doesn’t mean corners have been cut when it comes to this keyboard. At this price range i fully believe you will find it hard to find anything that is built as well as this, there is little to no flex/bend in the board what so ever and each row of keys has a different led colour. I have used this keyboard for some extremely long gaming hours and i can not fault it what so ever, yes blue switches are a little loud but the tactile feedback you get from these switches make it all worth it. . The slim design makes it ideal if you have a limited amount of room on your desk or your just looking for a smaller sleeker look. Overall this is a well built and durable keyboard and well worth the current asking price, you also get a 24 month warranty which will come in handy if there is any problems.
bought this to replace my old cherry g80. It looks good and works well. The only thing which is different from the cherry blue switch is the outemu blue switch is a bit stiffer. The initial resistance is larger than the cherry switch but goes smoother after you trigger the key. Maybe it just because of my cherry g80 is too old. The light is ok, it doesn’t blind you in the night even on its maximum intensity – although i don’t turn them on usually. Multimedia key are very handy – espically for playing related keys (i. Volume up/down and mute, play/next/previous). There is also asdw, esc and 4 arrow keys in red in the box, i think it is meant for the gamers.
Nice keyboard with great feeling tactile and clicky switches(blues), came with some orange replacement key caps for esc, wasd and directionals. Back lit keys are set colours but for the price and considering there is a full rgb version available this isn’t a big deal. Some of the keys feel a little wobbly but this isn’t on keys that get used regularly so isn’t a massive issue. Feet on the bottom are nice and grippy.
