Razer Tartarus Chroma Expert RGB Gaming Keypad : Five Stars

This is a nice additional keypad for gaming, i use it to avoid wear on my regular keyboard for games where you have to press the same buttons hundreds of times. It is membrane but feels good, but obviously, it’s not as satisfying as a mechanical keyboard. The software for remapping keys etc. Is very good and because its rgb it can match any set up.

I do not like the thumb pad. The nostromo thumb pad also had a smooth button but it’s could be removed to leave a nice raised cross so you could easily tell forward, back, left & right by touch. With this one i am frequently touching forward or back when i meant left or right, especially when i am rushing.

If you used the older nostromo then this is almost identical, which is a good thing as your hand will be familiar with the button layout, there are minor differences but not enough for you to really notice. The old nostromo lasted me for 5-6 years before the buttons became a bit unresponsive but this was 5-6 years of intense use so understandable. If you have never used a gaming keypad like this, then i highly recommend it, especially for fps games. If the tartarus lasts me another 5-6 years then it would of been £70 well spent.

This is an excellent device that has changed the way i game completely. I have always been looking for a keyboard or controller that suits the way i game and have struggled to find one. I found gaming keyboards were great for gamin but terrible for anything else. This is where the tartarus comes in as it offers the quality of a gaming keyboard but at a lower price and with a more streamlined control space. The keys are very good quality and provide a solid response when pressing. The overall device feels well constructed and stable in your hand and the adjustment is enough to allow you to rest your palm comfortably while still accessing all the keys. From the quality of the materials to the braided cable the general build quality is excellent. The customisation options are also very good using the included software though they do take a little getting used to. In all, i am a very happy customer and would wholly recommend the tartarus.

Well i have never used one of these pads before and thought that if i am going to try one it might as well be a good one. I was delighted with this razer, beautifully made, adjustable so it fits no matter how large or small your hands are, the main palm pad is very comfortable and is contoured to allow your hand to fit snugly into place. There’s options to have the key back lights any colour you want or to have them cycle through the full spectrum. Also a great large thumb button as well as two other buttons on the left side that are unbelievably useful. As far as using this to game with. Well its a little weird at first but after about an hour or so it just feels so natural and it really makes things so much easier. The only addition i have added to this is a few strips of blu-tack under the base to keep it from moving as sometimes through hectic gaming it tends to move slightly. I don’t know how i survived without it to be honest.

High quality, but needing to be online to configure it and the high price knock off a star.

I had the previous model of this and used it for years. This has one extra button (woot) but other than that, it’s pretty much the same, certainly in use. For fps games and indeed all the other genres which i play, i have found these controllers invaluable. It’s not hard to configure, although it’s a pain in the butt to do it for all your games. Once you have sorted it and are happy with the configration, it’s hard to go back, in fact i wouldn’t want to play using a keyboard any more. Your have been warnedthe only down-side, is that if you have to type text it means dragging your keyboard back into range. I dislike typing and prefer voip comms, hence i don’t much care about the keyboard issue. I guess you could use a smaller keyboard but my g15 logitec and the room needed for the mouse, means that my arms are too far apart if used ‘next’ to the keyboard, hence it’s pushed up close to the monitor.

First one didn’t arrive but second did and he loved ituses it all the time[. thanks for taking the time to read my review :). ]

I’m really pleased with this product. I use it for digital painting in photoshop. My first impression of this is that it’s well built – it looks and feels great. The software that you can download from razer is really well made, and can help speed up a number of tasks.

I’ve been using the orbweaver since release but i’m one of the quiet few that don’t really enjoy mechanical keys, i always find they feel a little sticky, this keypad has superb membrane keys and overall it actually feels like a more cohesive device then the orbweaver although that could be to the limited adjustment options. Well recommended but be warned once you get used to using one of these you’ll never be able to go back.

Product good but razer on line very poor dose not work at times.

I do quite a bit of mmorpg gaming and this is an amazing product. It takes a bit of getting used to at first as and think it’ll be a few days before muscle memory develops but really good so far. I had to play around with the key mapping a couple of times (super easy to do btw) until it felt right, but once there the speed of interaction with the games is now much faster and it’s super comfy. The chroma part is a blatant gimmick but does look good in low lighting levels.

Being new too pc gaming after using consoles for so long getting my head and fingers around a keyboard and mouse was difficult. Tried using steam controller which was a terrible experience plus trying to use xbox controller was to slow in fps. First night using this i could see myself getting better over time, being able program the keys and the rest position suits even my large hands thanks to it being adjustable. I can highly recommend this to people gaming on a pc for the first and regular pc gamers as well excellent product 5 stars.

It takes a little getting used to but is so much more comfortable than any keyboard. Has made my gaming much better.

As i have a small desk, a full sized keyboard wont fit it. The keypad allows me to assgin any key i want to any key on the pad comfortably. However i believe it isnt worth it for pcs unless you play mmorpgs or use it for desgin software.

Perfect for someone like me who has been a console gamer all his life and has trouble getting used to moving with wasd. Makes fps games much easier.

. So to buy this product, you need to come to the decision that you’re going to get on better with this, rather than a full mechanical keyboard such as the gamdias hermes, that’s the same money (£75). You also have the razer orb weaver to think about. Other than the mechanical switches of the orb weaver, you also have an extra line of keys, giving you more possibilities. Also the orb weaver is slightly longer so if you have bigger hands the orb weaver might be better as i have medium gloved hands, and at it’s longest setting the tartarus is perfect for me, but if you have larger hands you might find it difficult to get to the lowest line of keys. 1 million colour’ products the 16. 1 million different colours is more like 16. However most people just have one of the ‘major’ colours like red, green, blue, white, purple etc, which this does perfectly, albeit the white having a very slight purple tint. You have to get used to playing with this product, it’s not directly transferable from a keyboard and you have to re-learn how to play with it a bit like when you first used a game pad on the xbox or whatever, it didn’t take me long though and now i can play games for longer as the ergonomic design really works and saves your wrists.

Not much to say, really – the product description covers it pretty well. I like that the buttons are fully map-able, including to joystick presses, macros, mouse actions or any key you want. It means i can customise the pad for a game but leave the default key mapping in that game alone – so if a friend comes over, he doesn’t find i’ve made the game in question unplayable. The d-pad is okay, and the whole thing has lasted a couple of hundred hours of gaming now without any issues.

Very happy with this product and know the hubby will be when he opens it on christmas day.

Coming from a console gamer, the keypad is a nice transition. The keys all feel solid and the palm rest stops my hand from cramping upthere are only a couple of down sides i can think as of yet. Not being enough buttons (but this can be resolved by getting the orbweaver)2. The directional joystick thing isn’t good for movement. But that isn’t so much of an issue as most people are used to wasdbut overall i love it,i don’t use a keyboard for gaming only this and a mouse, and ever since i started using this over keyboard, my kills on fps has risen.

It’s a mini keyboard for lazy people. The only downside is my fingers have gotten a lot fatter since owning this as i do not need to use them as much.

Definitely improved my game playing.

Great keypad, i do not use it for gaming, but rather working with arcgis. The programmable buttons make navigating the software very quick and easy.

Little bit pricey and the keys are a bit stiff. I use it as a macro pad, pretty useful in that sense. Would recommend if you want extra macros.
