Madcatz Mad Catz R, Great mouse

Replacement for my rat 7, if you are looking for customizability, the rat 7 is miles ahead, but otherwise a pretty good mouse.
Excellent product, working smoothly. The white can get a bit dirty, however the performance and features are excellent. Precision aim is a useful feature. Buttons can press unexpectedly sometimes under weight of finger and the weight adjustment is pretty good too. However the palm rest adjustment at full extension is a bit dodgy. Looks uncomfortable but is very comfortablejust one thing, (to everyone) this product is also compatible with mac even though it does not say it in the description.
Great mouse for its price, nice tracking to it and fits well in your hand.
The bad reviews really don’t add up. The mouse works brilliantly and has a comfortable feel in the hand. The software for the mouse is basic and a bit tacky but in terms of the mouse itself it’s reliable, ergonomic and great for gaming.
Little overpriced for what you get, considering the advantages this mouse offers come via software, not hardware, and the software is a free download from katz. But a bit of a bargain in amazon’s cyber monday deals. Only as good as its poorest element, which has to be the plastic feet-pads that allow it to slide over a mouse mat. The plastic used is just incredibly cheap and nasty, and you can feel resistance to movement. Has a nice weight, derived from a slab of metal screwed to the base. It’s only function appears to add weight to the mouse. On that score, they could have used better quality components instead to get the weight required, which i think is a tad too high. Very good button sensitivity, and has an actual middle button as well as scroll wheel — the wheel simply doesn’t work responsively in games requiring a button. The best ‘plus’ i can see is that the software (yes, the software, not the hardware) can adjust mouse sensitivity at specific pre-planned moments during gameplay, such as when taking aim with a weapon that requires a steady shot– sniper rifles, bows, crossbows. No more shaking targets and poor control.
Only had it a few days, but would definitely suggest it to someone looking for a mouse in its price range. Decided to spend a bit more, as previously had logitech and anker wireless mice, which broke very quickly. Do not use it for gaming much, but the customization capability is very useful. It fits very well in the hand and is very comfortable after prolonged use.
How can something so small be so futuristic, it works for my child who is leagues ahead of me in the tech department, he says it does all that it says. However i have amended my initial feedback and have to say after under 8 months of usage i have had to have a replacement product. The cable is long and looks pretty heavy duty but i think its a little flimsy at the connections.

Sturdy, but a few issues

Not as amazing as you expect

Feels good, nice to use, but later has problems with buttons and sensor movement.

Drivers not supported online by manufacturer.
I have bought 2x of these mice in the past. The mouse feels great to use for gaming. However, the first one had problems with the left mouse button double clicking after a few months, so i bought another. Again after a few months the sensor on the second one randomly started doing its own thing, one minute horizontal movement not working, next minute the vertical movement not working. And again after another month, the same thing happened to the mouse buttons as the first. Pros, nice to use – cons has many problems and doesn’t last very long.
Imo still the best of the rats. You can modify with the pinky rest from the r7 and change the feet etc and its going for a song nowdays have 4 of them love them.
Best ergonomic claw grip mouse with exception of rat 7 and highter. But cleaning the greasy sking waste from the mouse in all the creases and managing the servicing of side mouse buttons on the other hand is totaly different story. I need to buy a loads of them in store since mad catz is bankrupt. One day they will cost fortune.
Have used rat mice before, dont be fooled by the looks they are very comfotable to use while playing game’s the white version looks very slick and the latest software works well as you can configure it for different game mapping. Would recommend the rat 5 as i payed just under £50 which is a bargain.
They are cool looking devices, but i’ve had a few issues with them seizing up (maybe this is just me) and the wire coming through the cord lacing, at the end of the day a cheaper mouse will probably serve you better, but it does feel like a premium device.
Very good item for gaming and also good price.

I enjoyed using the mouse but for the price i paid it broke fairly quickly, be warned.
T 3 decided to die (to be fair, i didn’t look after it at all and it still lasted that long)i decided to go for the r. T 3 was one of the more comfortable mice for large hands, and the r. T 5 is the same size and shape, only with an extra button and a horizontal scrollwheel. With the added weight, and the ability to customise that weight, it feels a lot more premium than the old one. All the buttons are nice and clicky, in comfortable positions, and they don’t take too much force to activate, but they don’t activate while just resting on them.
Instantly feel in love with the product from unboxing it. Its very aesthetically pleasing as well as functionally pleasing. The main reason i would highly recomend the mad catz r. 5 mouse is due the ammount of customizability the producat allows, not only can you adjust the wieght and size of the mouse, with no difficulty, it comes with a progamable software thats easily installed to your computer, it allows you to set up 3 diiferent modes in which you can use the mouse allowing you to switch from each mode with one simple click, perfect for switching from different gamming styles. I would definitely recomend this buy with no regrets as i still use this and have had absolutly no issues with it what so ever since my purchase.
First of all let’s talk about the packaging and the contents of the box. The outer box of the product is really nice, it outlines the main features which i will describe later. After taking the cover off, you see the main box with the mouse in it. It’s protected by a styrofoam to prevent any damage to the mouse. After taking the mouse out, and lifting the foam you see a reader’s manual, some advertisements from mad catz, warranty information and stickers which are a great bonus in my opinion. I stuck the smaller sticker onto my case. The manual explains each button on the mouse, and advises you to go and download a software for the mouse in order to customise some of the buttons. The mouse has a number of features which appealed to me when looking for a gaming mouse in this budget. The mouse contains 6 programmable buttons such as: scroll-wheel, precision aim button, a 2-way thumb switch and back and forward buttons. You can customize each one of them separately.
I’ve bought 2 of these now – mainly because i heard mad catz has folded (wanted another one before they become unavailable). So now i have one at home and in the office. Love this mouse, not only does it look like a transformer, its an excellent performer, and excellent build quality.
It’s good not 100% comfy but it lasted me a good year now it’s basically dead nice feel but i’m very disappointed that it only lasted a year. Gonna go and try corsair if i can’t get this fixed. I did see a lot of people saying how it didn’t last very long. But yet it’s still a nice mouse just a shame really.
I previously had the rat 4, which is quite similar, and had some problems, so decided to upgrade. This mouse is a definite improvement on the 4 and fixed most of its problems, a main one being the upgrade to the laser sensor instead of an optical one. The feel to this mouse is great for people with wider hands and has an easy to use adjustable weight system; the side buttons are very easy to access and all the buttons are reprogrammable. The main reason i gave this mouse 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the programmable scroller to the right of the side buttons; this scroller feels very unnatural (to me) to use and so feels kind of useless. One other thing is once you download a software from online you will have to right click the mouse from the task bar and open the program from there. (if you have any difficulty finding drivers message me and i will send you a link).

One of the best pc mice on the market, previously i had owned the r. T 9 so i knew what to expect (great build quality, great support & a comfortable mouse), if you happen to be looking to get a mouse for your pc (or laptop) then the r. T range of mice from mad catz is the range to choose from, i love my r. T 5 to bits and having customizable profiles is a huge plus, the braided cable it comes with is colour coded and feels of very high quality, it is just an all round amazing mouse to own.
Great mouse, maybe not the greatest sensor in the world, but unbeatable comfort and customization. While for some people the mouse can break down due to faulty sensor or other, mine lasted 2. 5 years and i was more than happy to immediately rebuy.
Mouse is good and great quality but does not work properly with mac book pro and there is no software could be downloaded from the official website for month now, says coming soon. Other software downloaded from other sources do not see the device.
To this day, rat mice are the best feeling you can get for a mouse. Though, rat 7 is much better than rat 5 for a quite small additional price considering the upgrade. Very good mouse, there is much less configuration options than what i was used to with the rat 7, the mouse is thinner, and wings cannot be deployed the 7 can. Too bad, i wish realised this sooner. I would recommend you to buy the 7 instead of this one, it is really worth it. Mac users: it took me 4 re installations of the same latest 10. 9 driver for the mac to accept it on yosemite, don’t ask me why, i have no idea, but it finally worked. ( i used trashme app after each install to make sure my install was clean )final word: if you want the best mouse possible, this is good, rat 7 is way better.
Been using this for ages and i have to say the thumb wheel is now something i couldnt live without, i have got so used to using that for volume controle i dont think i could live without it. The software isnt the best but you can get it to do what ever you want really so dont let that put you off.
Has good weight that can even be adjusted, has a good feel and a nice palmrest, what can i say, truly the best mouse i have ever had. Way to go for making this ingenuitive and different style mouse, extravagant looks but it works:).
It looks great, feels sturdy and generally impressive looking. Within about an hour or two of use, the optical light stopped working. All the buttons still worked but i could move my cursor at all. It had been out of the box for less than two hours and already i had my old crappy mouse plugged back into my computer. . So disappointed, i will be getting a replacement however, if it happens again i will update this review. Turns out a small amount of water was on the desk as i ran my mouse over it, this mouse seems very vulnerable to even a tiny amount of water so be careful.

Great mouse
