Logitech G502 Proteus Core Tunable Gaming Mouse : Great mouse for a good price

After letting my roccat kone get too long in the tooth i finally decided to get a new mouse as a mostly fps/moba gamer. After much searching it came down to the logitech proteus core 502 and the deathadder chroma. By sheer coincidence i was able to get a physical look at both mice in game of all places as they stock both and have demo versions on display, albeit glued to a panel. From this cursory inspection i went with the 502 first based on it feeling ok and the extra 3 buttons for dpi shifting tipping it slightly in favour over the adder. At first i was quite pleased, the 502 is a great mouse and well put together. The third thumb button which is for dpi toggling on press/depress is an effectively located addition for on the fly sensitivity changing without having to change your primary grip position to the likely detriment of fine movement. This is manifested in such situations as scoped sniping allowing you to make smaller movements on demand all in one with your mouse hand. The two mouse1 side buttons are for dpi shifting up and down through three pre set settings(you have can multiple configs of 3), though after a few days i personally didnt really use them or need to. The resistance toggle on the mouse wheel is a nice convenience making scrolling and browsing a little easier. Alas despite all these points in its favour, in the first few days after receiving the mouse the initial positives began to be outweighed by creeping negatives.

I initially brought the g602 as i wanted a high-quality mouse with plenty (but not mmo-orientated overkill) customisable buttons. The g602, in addition to being wireless, had a muted, professional look compared to the g502’s sporty appearance. But i found the g602 thoroughly unusable: i “palm” my mice and found that palming the mouse with my short-fingered hands meant having to click the primary mouse buttons from near the back of them. It required a good deal of force to get the switches to actuate leading to plenty of dropped clicks and finger fatigue. Changing the way i held the mouse only compounded things, allowing me to click the primary buttons with ease but making the side buttons difficulty to access comfortably. So back to amazon the g602 went. After some research i found the g502 wasn’t as long (from mouse button tip to back) as the g602, being a few inches shorter. It didn’t look all that nice in screens and it was had a cable to boot. But looking around online it seemed this mouse was the closest thing to a g602-for-small-hands experience as i could get. After having used the mouse for several weeks for both games and general productivity i’m generally happy with the mouse.

The mouse has a good sensor and doesn’t seem to skip pixels or jitter if used at a reasonable dpi level. The mouse has a nice texture and shape/size and buttons are easily accessible. There is however 2 issues with this mouse that ruin it for me, and those are the scroll wheel and the mouse feet. The scroll wheel: it is metal and extremely heavy in comparison to other mouse wheels. The weight of the wheel and the lack of any rubberized grip make it somewhat hard to control precisely and, at least for me, very easy to scroll one click to far. It is also very easy for your finger to slip because it has no real grip aside from the indentations on it. The feet: they feel fairly smooth to the touch and slide reasonably well but they do not last long and two of the feet on my mouse came loose after just a week, and another one started peeling at the corner. If not for the two problems mentioned this mouse would be great, but as it currently stands, there is much better alternatives.

Bought this to replace my ageing – but still worthy – logitech g9. But i use gaming mice and keyboards (for music production and cad) simply because they’re more robust and more versatile. The tracking, dpi range, switchable scroll wheel and overall build quality were really impressive features on the g9 and the g502 improves on this again. I especially like the programmable buttons, all easy to customise and all are easily accessible. And much prefer the scroll wheel switch on top rather than underneath on the g9. Hard to find any downsides really. However, one thing i will say is compared to the g9 (on which i used the ‘big body’ on and fully loaded its weights compartment), it’s quite a bit smaller and lighter than i’m used to so if you’re a large handed user, you might find it a bit odd to use at first. Having said that, it more than makes up for that by feeling both much sharper and more precise to use. If you’re not a gamer but need a reliable, versatile mouse for ‘long-hours’ work and can get past the ‘alien cockroach’ looks, the g502 comes highly recommended.

One of the best mice out there right now, although i do not use this mice, i use the corsair m65, i tried this mouse as it was for my brother and it feels really accurate, really smooth and fits perfectly in the hand. It is really comfortable, all this as well as it feels like a quality product. The sensor is definitely something to brag about, one of the best sensors in the gaming mice market. I cannot really see any bad points about this mice. The weights are really easy to handle as well, you just pull off the bottom with so much ease as it is held in place using magnets but it will not randomly fall off while in use so don’t worry. If you dropped it on the floor or it fell off the table for any reason (rage mode), the weights might fall out but that shouldn’t be a problem (how many of you have actually dropped your mouse/mice, actually i have with my old mice, accidentally knocked it off the table). The software is also really simple and easy to use for any beginner, it won’t take long to get use to the logitech driver for this product unlike corsairs utility engine(cue) for the m65. It is a little more bulkier but once you get use to the cue, its all worth it. Creating macros has never been easier. In my honest opinion i do like the cue better than logitechs version though.

This mouse has the best optical sensor in the world but it is a small heavy mouse with a very stiff heavy braided cable that is thicker then my g500s mouse cord. The heavy cord pulls your shots off target. You must use this mouse with a mouse bungee or its horrible to use. I have rubber cabled mice that are 10 years old an still going strong. Every mouse with a braided cable i have owned has had issues with the cord, please give us the option of rubber cables on all gaming mice as they are proven to be the best. Braided cables are heavy and break too young my g500 died within a year because the cable failed. The g700s rubber cable is miles better and will not break like the braided ones always do. Logitechs core focus is clear from there website and press releases, they focus more on all there products bar their gaming gear. The gaming community wants the g502 sensor in more mice and are waiting to buy them(check the gaming forums). Which would result in a massive increase in sales and a large increase in the share price and dividends to share holders.

I’ve been an avid user of logitech mice for years, mainly through using the g5 and g500. The g502 has some great points, i’d not say it’s better than my g500, but as i can’t use that anymore i needed a replacement. Packaging was small and simple, but did the job, nothing special really. The featured dpi is far more than anyone would really need, but the sensor is accurate and works well. Button placement is a bit off for me, i’d say i have average sized hands and i struggle to use the side buttons effectively and the dpi buttons can be hit accidentally if you tend to move your fingers much. Also the visual design doesn’t jive with me, it looks far too angular. I much preferred logitech’s old style. The led also would be better if it was rgb instead of just blue. However, even though i listed a number of negative points, they don’t make the mouse unusable, and on the whole if you don’t mind the aesthetics it’s a comfortable and competent mouse that’s main issue is a somewhat impracticable side button placement. I’ve yet to find a mouse with perfect placement however, and the 502 is roughly as good as any other mouse i’ve tried.

Fiddly, can’t get the resolution just right. I can’t get elite dangerous to recognise the sniper button. (i’m not saying is doesn’t, just i not found out how yet) heavy. Fiddly, i can’t get the dead zone just right. I really like the metal wheel, and you can unlock the ratchet and spin to the bottom of a long document. The software occasionally forgets all my settings after a reboot, so the cursor crawls across the screen so i have to set it all up again. It feels very nice in the right hand, well made but needed a powered usb. Couldn’t run it in the same socket as my previous mouse (a usb on the keyboard which was useful from the point of view of cable-fu)it’s good in parts. Very glad i got it in a deal and not full price.

I bought this as an upgrade to my g5. I love the mousewheel, great idea and works well. I still sometimes fumble over the buttons to the left of the left click (usually in-game panic clicking) but i’m getting used to them. The new thumb button that is meant for sniping, i have configured it to ctrl so i can resize webpages with the mouswheel when the text is too small (i am a bit old)the only negative is the bottom side of the mouse. For a start, the flap sometimes drops off on its own :-(and when it’s on it scrapes across the mousemat like a grubby old house brick. The mouse feet are absolute crap. Flimsy low quality stickers that just peel off. Today i have resolved this by putting on some mouseskates from ‘hotline games’ (found on ebay)the mouse now glides like my old g5 used to.

I’ve had this mouse for about a month so far, i replaced a deathadder which kept frequently double clicking when i was pressing the button down once. Enough was enough so i did my research and stumbled across this beastinstallation was straightforward. I’m running windows 10 64 bit. Install the drivers and plug the mouse in. Computer needed to restart, on next reboot it advised there was a software update available for the mouse. Note: according to my research it suggests that the g502 may become completely unusable if you try to update the mouse with it plugged in to a usb 3. Make sure it’s plugged into a usb 2. If you are not sure which is which; the usb 3.

Brought this to retire my old gigabyte gaming mouse. . Ended up buying a second one for work. . There are no bad points about this mouse only good points- it has an insane dpi range. – optional weights to add additional weight for those of us who like a heavy mouse (i have them all installed)- software profiles are stored on the mouse so you don’t need the software installed to use the mouse on other computers. – sniper button to lower the dpi right down for accuracy (dpi can be customised to users preference)- mouse is a good fit if you have medium/big hands. – paracord wrapped cable makes it hard to tangle and will ensure the wire doesn’t go bad easilygreat mouse for a good price and if you don’t care for all the bells and whistles there’s the slightly cheaper g402, you couldn’t go wrong with either.

Having used the rat 9 wireless mouse for 3 years i was a bit sceptical going to a wired mouse. Everyone said this mouse is heavy before adding the weights but the rat weighs nearly twice this. Onto the mouse, has programmable profiles for all 11 buttons, it learns the surface really well and glides across with ease (razer goliath mat) so you don’t actually need one of logitechs mats. The wire is braided which is great, even though its customizable like the rat it feels great in the hand and is perfect for palm, finger and claw grip as the right and left mouse buttons are about the length of my middle finger so you never miss a click. The infinite scroll is actually ontop of the mouse not like the g9x (a previous mouse i owned) this makes switching easy, and the software is great and really simple to use. Now to summarisepros- has 11 fully customisable buttons- has a thumb rest- has long click buttons- is really light (to me anyway)- self learns surfaces- on-board memory so take your profiles with you- has a 12000 dpi sensor- is really well priced- has a braided cablecons- only has blue lighting- not customisable- can only be used by right hand gamers.

I’ve had many gaming mice over the years. Prior to buying this one, my favourites were the func ms2 r2 and the rat7. Both fit my medium-sized, chunky hand really well, and stopped my little-finger dragong on my mouse mat. Both were really comfortable in twitch shooters, but were not quite as accurate as i would like and felt a fraction slow. This g502 is the best mouse i have ever gamed with. It’s fast, accurate, and soooo responsive. I was worried about it having no pinky rest, but the sides are so grippy that my little finger never touches the mouse mat. I have gone from a palm grip to more of a claw, and my accuracy has improved because of it. I thought that the proteus core would feel too small after my previous wide-bodied rodents, but i needn’t have worried: it feels just right. I use all of the included weights and yet the mouse still dances around like it is half its weight.

Has provided an interesting experience for me, coming from a logitech g9x which is one of the best mice i have ever used, with many others feeling similarly about it. I can honestly say that this is a pretty great successor to the g9x but does leave a little something to be desired, in my opinion, when it comes to ergonomics and it’s feel in the hand this might just be because i moved straight from my g9x to this one, and they are relatively different in shape, but i do think i prefer the shape of the g9x, which felt a little more natural and easy to use. This mouse does, however, have much faster and better tracking, a wire that seems like it would resist getting ‘unbraided’ more so than the g9x’s did (in my experience) and has more buttons which are also better in feel and positioned in a more efficient way. So it does make significant improvements in some areas and, considering the g9x is no longer available (unless you’re willing to pay a pretty high amount), this mouse might be the best on the market. If it’s a choice between the two, though, i would really recommend the g9x more than this mouse, simply because it feels a lot better in my hand and that’s the most important part of using a mouse (to me). That being said, the g502 does come pretty close to beating it’s older brother and it can definitely hold it’s own against all the competition, so it’s not one which should be underestimated. Tl;dr: as with everything, ymmv, but i do think this mouse is a solid 4/5 for me, because it is pretty fantastic but my previous one felt a little better in the hand. That might go away over time but this is my current opinion.

The g502 comes with the legendary pmw3366 sensor, which tracks accurately even on my wooden desk top. The mouse wheel is a masterpiece. It can be unlocked from the ratchet, and spin freely rather quickly, which is nice for web-browsing. The downside of this implementation is that if you move the scroll wheel very slowly, it doesn’t pick anything up. You can also click the mouse wheel left or right, for two additional buttons. A small compartment is present on the underside of the mouse for housing small, removable weights. I don’t use them, but i guess if you want to simulate the weight of your cursor in dota, then it’s available. The cable isn’t detachable, but it is braided and looks like it will last. It’s stood up to excessive use over the two years i’ve owned it. The downside is that the rough surface of the braid snags on the edge of my desk sometimes.

Love itthe free spinning scroll wheel is great for general use, to the point that now i don’t consider ever getting a mouse without it. Obviously it can be locked for playing games, but for the rest is always spinning , babyit has a great precision, to the point that unlike all mice i’ve had that worked in most surfaces with average results, this one refuses to work in other surfaces than the selected calibration. Then you just change the profile to that surface and it’s perfect. I don’t get the point of the customisable weights, never have, never will, had it on other mice and never use themthe braided cord is greatthe main buttons have a great feel, the clickwheel button, not so muchthe only con is that the wheel when locked doesn’t seem to have much precision, for instance when changing weapons in games, sometimes it doesn’t act on the first click, but it’s otherwise great usefulness when browsing the web makes for it in spadeshighly recommended.

I thought id give something different a try from my much liked razer deathadder. As planned the g502 is very, very different. Both take a clearly different approach to the gamers primary and most lethal tool. The g502 is feature rich as youd expect from logitech. And it all works pretty well and unlike many button laden mice, the buttons are all as reachable as to be expected and for online fps you can use a couple of them beyond the normal thumb which is nice. Here it gets one up on the sparse da. I can use an extra 3 buttons in online fps which is nice. And despite my reservations ive also kept the dpi and profile switching buttons mapped as default. Using them has made me realise different games feel better with slightly differnt pointer resolution.

I will make this review straight. Having used many gaming mice myself, there are few let downs that interferes the pros of this mouse. Pros:frankly speaking, the optical sensor of this mouse is quite good. Good in terms of accuracy in the shooting game. It’s quite effective when you use rifles which has recoils such as ak47. This mouse is a palm grip type and so, it is quite easy to rapid click/fire during the game which is also critical in fps game. The sensor is so good that i felt that the price of the mouse mostly goes to the sensor itself. The size of the mouse is about 13cm in length and 6cm in width which is quite similar to that of roccat kone xtd but 1 cm shorter in width resulting an oval sort of shape just like a reptile egg in the dinosaur museum. Due to the high precision lead by the sensor, this shape does help. If there are too much width, it can be quite hard to control such sensor i’d say.

I recently had to upgrade from the old-model g500 as it suffered the all-too common death of the dreaded ‘double click’ syndrome. I was initially going to buy another g500, but seeing that it’s now oop the logical successor seemed the new g502. Having used it for about a month now i’m glad to say it’s just as good as the original g500. The scroll-wheel has a free-flying mode which i find exceptionally useful; though the big button and chunky wheel were awkward at first, now they’re fine. The only bad thing i can think of is that the dpi adjustment buttons lie flush with the left mouse button, so i’ve clicked on those a few times unwittingly when my hand isn’t resting right. I wouldn’t say that would stop me recommending this, just something to be aware of if your fingers are as chunky and undexterous as mine. The blue g logo is perhaps the thing you might hate most about this mouse — i thought it looked awful at first, but actually i’ve found it quite useful to be able to see where the mouse is quite quickly in the semi-dark when i’ve turned the lights off to watch a film etc. Overall an excellent mouse and has all the features you would expect around this price point — if you’re looking for a new mouse, you could have far worse options to pursue.

I bought this to replace an ageing but much loved mx502, it was still working well so taking the plunge was a risk. I have not been disappointed. I may think the weights system a little gimmicky, but it didn’t stop me loading the mouse will all available weights to give it more of a substantial feel. The software enables you to program the mouse with different modes and functions depending upon the game or application you are using. I found this largely unnecessary. I don’t tend to change settings once i have things how i like them. Luckily the mouse is capable of storing the configuration you have decided upon. This means i was able to set up the the mouse how i liked it, save it to the mouses internal memory and then uninstall the bloated config tool. That being said the configuration software is pretty comprehensive. For example i have never felt the need to change the dpi on the fly, with a few clicks i was able to disable that function and reassign the relevant button(s) to do something else.

I’ve been playing counter strike with this mouse now for almost a year and thought it was about time i provided a review for it. The first thing i noticed when unboxing the mouse was the shape, upon looking at it, it seems as though it will not be that comfy however; after getting used to it i began to love it. I use a claw grip when holding the mouse so it may be different depending on how you use it but for me, the design of the mouse allowed me to have long gaming sessions without my hand becoming uncomfortable (a problem i have had with other mice)the sensor in the mouse is excellent and allows extreme precision when using it; this is essential when playing counter strike and is one of the main reasons i can recommend this mouse. The one problem that i find with this mouse might not be a problem for a lot of other people; but for me the weight is a bit too heavy. I have removed all the weights yet i still find it to be too heavy compared so other mice that i have used that felt good in the hand. I do however, still use this mouse because of the sensor in it and will continue using this until it breaks which it shows no signs of doing.

Nicely weighted, the low sensitivity button on the thumb side is pressed accidentally quite frequently while moving the mouse side to side but it’s very accessible. The shape of the mouse in real life is much more economic than the pictures suggest. The mouse is slanted to the right raising your index finger and putting your hand in a more neutral position which is comfortable for your wrist and hand. The scroll wheel works well but it’s very notchy and ‘loose’ feeling – i’m sure you can get used to this and as the mouse gets used the parts will all settle in. The sensor is simply awesome, nothing more to say. The weights make a difference but ultimately you’ll get used to whatever configuration you choose. Personally i added 3 weights around the sensor which gives a little more resistance but adding more weight to the back would allow the mouse to fall out of my palm at the back as i hold the mouse more towards the front so i removed the 2 rear weights, in an ideal world i’d like more weight at the front but even having the option to change the balance is a luxury.

I recommend checking out my video review on the mouse instead of reading everything below as its pretty much the same:[. if you enjoy the review subscribe to my youtube channel: [. ]now why i’m reviewing this is because when i saw the reviews on this mouse. I knew i had to check it out and see if it’s worth it. First let’s take a look at the design of this mouse. Most of the mouse a has a soft touch matte finish which quite pleasing to touch and the two sides have a rugged rubber feel which i am a fan of as it gives you more grip. The only lighting on this mouse is the bright blue g logo which looks quite nice, but i’m disappointed in the fact that you can’t customize the colour because it’s expected of mice at this price range. The weight of the mouse is 120g which is great for me as i do like lighter mice. If you prefer a mouse thats a little more hefty, then there are additional weights supplied with the mouse which you can add on to the bottom around the sensor. ]

Before buying this, i’d always stuck to sub-£10 mice, but trying the older g500 convinced me to upgrade. After getting the g502, i soon found it hard to go back to low-end mice, and my opinion remains as good after 18 months, even though some minor issues keep me from giving it the full five stars. The g502 is sensitive indeed, to the point that i’ll never be able to use much more than half of the available dpi range. Even so, the g502 (just like the g500) is a huge improvement over a standard mouse: i barely need to move my hand to get the cursor across the whole screen, and lifting and repositioning the mouse is a thing of the past. I don’t think many will find any need for anything close to the maximum 12000 dpi — none of the default profiles go higher than around half, so i doubt even logitech thought of it as more than a marketing gimmick. The g502, as its predecessor, comes with weights that can be placed in a compartment underneath. The compartment is lined with rubber that keeps the weights in place by friction, and is closed by a flap held in place by a magnet; this system does not feels too solid, compared to the (perhaps overdesigned) ejectable cartridge of the g500, but does the job; it takes quite a yank to cause the weights to fly out. The number of weight is customisable, but i just put them all in and never thought about it again. The software is intuitive, and the customisation options detailed enough. The mouse can hold three sensitivity profiles, and each can have up to 5 dpi levels freely set.

Hands down the best mouse i have owned so far. Even with large hands and a claw grip, the mouse fits me perfectly. Coupled with easy-to-use software, you can tweak it to your hearts desire. It feels solid, with no creaking, loose or jangling bits. The scroll wheel seems like it would get slippery after some intense, sweaty gaming but it is surprisingly grippy. It is also nice to have a button to quickly switch between infinite and notched scrolling. The dpi indicator lights are a nice touch, so you can quickly see what setting you are on. My wife has got into gaming (wohoo) and i’ll be getting her one of these.

It took too long for my mouse to arrive from america so i got this refunded and bought it from a local computer store. I can tell you this mouse is amazing. The customization and the accuracy is unreal. Yes you can go upto 12000 dpi but why would you?.I currently use it at 2700 dpi for the game i play but it has a button perfectly placed near your thumb so you don’t accidentally press it but can easily reach it when you need to. This button allows you to switch between 2 dpi settings on the fly so great for fps games if you’re trying to snipe someone and need to lower dpi quickly for better accuracy. The mouse also has a really solid feel and fits perfectly in my hand. The added optional weights is a great at helping getting the mouse suited to your needs. And the optical sensor on it is amazing. The blue leds are a bonus for me as everything in my setup has blue leds so goes really well.

I have used this mouse for work and gaming; i can safely say it transformed both experience. With the dual use scroll wheel i find it very easy to glide through big spreadsheets without continuous scrolling input and click-to-click when i need more precision (or to stop the random scrolling by bushing against it). The laser is very precise and i have never noticed it glitch. One thing i make the most use of in the office is the 11-programmable buttons. In work they are perfect for quick cutting, copying, pasting and such. Another great feature being the quick change between profiles and dpi settings, allowing the user of the mouse very quick pre-set choices and as much control as possible. For example, i prefer a high dpi, where my colleagues in work prefer a lower dpi and i can within less than a second set up the mouse in a way that’d benefit them taking control. I have used the mouse and gaming mouse software on windows 7, 8. 1 and windows 10, all of which i never found any compatibility issues. The mouse has been use extensively everyday at work, as such i can confirm it has an excellent build quality and feels very durable.

Went from the g9x to the g700 to the g700s and then down to this g502. Now i i’ll just say this mouse looks crazy but it feels normal. I have small hands so it fits fine for me no issues whatsoever in grip. The buttons feel great and i’ve been using this for almost a year now and all the buttons still feel great and no issues in which the same can’t be said about my g700 or g700s. The quality of the buttons is excellent to say the least compared to older logitech products. The software is a bit buggy though, please avoid surface tuning and leave it default. In my case when i turned the surface tuning to my steel series qck the mouse had tracking issues sometimes, my mouse shot upwards randomly. So please leave it default if you get the same problem.

Didn’t review this earlier but this is the best mouse i’ve used ever, it has one of the most accurate sensors on the market and has logitech’s legendary build quality. The led lighting is good, and if you’d rather pay the extra for rgb go do that. I think if i want to i’ll just solder a white led on and filter a colour in if it comes to that, but i digress. I was at first reluctant and sceptical about paying so much for a mouse only ever buying cheapo wireless, then a cm storm devastator mouse and keyboard, when the mouse died after a year i went looking for one and this really good out. I have no regrets about buying this and actually instead wish i got it before the cheap ones. Amazingly accurate, great software and dpi range, plenty of buttons on the mouse including a dpi shift button which is good for making micro movements, the mouse wheel is great, has very pronounced stages and feedback with a mouse wheel release mode which is also quite nice to use but is inaccurate, not that it is really meant to be though. The only issues are the mouse feet being not amazing quality but even then these can be changed for little to nothing if they are an issue. Some people claim it to be a bit on the heavy side for them, but that’s their own opinion, i’ve got used to it and personally do not use the extra weight, it isn’t the best mouse out the box for twitch shooters like cs:go for this but sticking with it yields good results in my case when you get more used to it.

Purchased this mouse in the hope to get a great alternative to the g9x that broke down. This is definitely not a replacement or an alternative. The blue-ish lip is actually the pull part to open the magnetically held underside where you place the weights, if you are like me a raise the mouse to move it and use fingertip grip, you-re out of luck, that lip will drag itself across all surfaces due to the mouse balance being slightly off when raising. There is a workaround though, you use it with the bottom weight cover removed. This gives you more room to wobble and the lip is removed so no more drag, but it is a bit disappointing from a top of the range mouse. The rest of the mouse is great, there are some issues with the hyper scroll it, might be the mouse length and my short hands hence why the g9x was great, i can scroll down nicely but scrolling up ends me going up when pressing and the roll coming back down on itself while i raise my finger literally keeping me on the same page with a screen wobble. I find it difficult to use the hyper scroll to scroll up. This should be an outstanding mouse for medium to large hands that use palm grip, most certainly not for small hands with fingertip grip.

Loving this mouse, and much better than the g500 i had before. The thumb button furthest forward is much easier to reach, although the furthest back one is still a bit hard to reach and can make you lose your grip when pressing it. The biggest gotcha is that occasionally the ‘mode’ button gets pressed and then i find that nothing works (all my button mappings have gone) and it always takes me a short time to realise that the mouse is not malfunctioning and switch back to the mode i normally use. I really ought to get around to actually using all three modes. One for league of legends where i need slower mouse for better control, one for mmorpgs where being able to achieve 3000 rpm spin rate is desirable, and one for everyday desktop use.

This mouse has revolutionised my thoughts on peripherals for computers. Proscomfort – i’ve always had an issue with my big hands and mouses, but this one fits very nicely into my palm. The rubberised edges of the mouse give good grip constantly. The buttons are nicely placed and easy to reach and access. Weights – optional weights are included in the box to add to your mouse. I haven’t personally used them yet, but its great that the option is there for those that prefer a bit of resistance. Performance – i game quite frequently and this mouse has honestly made me a little better – especially in first person shooters. Programable – each button can be programmed to do a certain action like copy and paste. I program quite a lot so it’s nice to have the shortcuts there with only one click. The lights on the mouse can be changed to be off, dim, glowing, and bright.

Upgraded from my now broken g500 and it was worth it. The sensor is fantastic and the tracking is much better than the g500. I no longer aim for a head in csgo and hope it’s on point. Now i know it’s my bad aim when i miss. The mouse wheel has a satisfying weight to it. The cover for the weights underneath the mouse give me a little worry that it may be a weak point of the build but it works perfectly. It comes off only when you want to take it off. The design on the rubber grips seemed like they would get annoying from the pictures but it adds to the grip and feels good. The clicks and buttons all feel fantastic. The only con i can think of is for users with bigger hands like myself is that it can cause some fatigue in longer sessions and your thumb may rest on the ‘sniper button’.

Being a long time hard core gamer, i’ve used many of the renowned “gaming” mice since ie3 times (ie3 the mouse. Not the browser) all the way to a g9x – hopefully this self-boasting provides some credibility to what i’m going to say below:this, my friend, is a great mouse. Put the awesome cool looking aside (yes with a breathing led), it has a very nice grip for my medium-sized palm (i use claw gip, interestingly) and you can adjust the weight to your comfort level. Personally i adjust the weight to be just enough so i don’t lift it up while making big movements. It has so far the best tracking i have experienced. Even better than logitech’s own last flagship g9x imho. No acceleration, no jumping, just pinpoint accurate. It has a brilliant feature called “surface tuning” (or similar) which will calibrate the mouse’s sensor to the mouse pad you are using. I do feel it makes a slight improvement on tracking after the calibration – difficult to explain, but easy to feel. The build quality is solid, with all buttons having distinctive, clear feedback.

Things that are good but but could definitely be improved:the shape is comfortable however. It would definitely benefit from a pinky rest/larger right side. It kind of feels as if you hand is falling off of the side of the mouse for the first week or so of use. Lots of buttons is good, but i find them quite awkward to find with your thumb compared to other mice like the performance mx. Cable is nice because it’s braided. But the braiding seems to have slipped along the wire inside it causing strange permanent kinks. Software is good, you can set many different functions and up to 3 profiles, however the media controls (play/pause, next/previous track) don’t always seem to work, this was very frustrating. Button to switch between normal scrolling and fast scrolling is good. Over all good mouse there is no stand out bad feature that makes it suck.

Tricky to know what rating to give this, on the one hand as a mouse it is superb – and if like other logitech mice i would hope the electronics and switches are bullet-proof. I have just come from three mad-catz products all of which suffered the same micro-switch failure after 4-6 months. I rate my mice on comfort and sensitivity – i need a smooth cursor operation, especially from standstill, and a decent feel/weight, this is the first mouse that i have used without resorting to tuning with additional weights, and the cursor tuning provides me with more than i need. Now the downside, the mice skates/feet/glides whatever you want to call them are definitely not as resilient as previous logitech products, i have resorted to after market after my second set of originals started to peel at the corners – logitech were no help saying they didn’t have any spares. Another downside (at least for me) is that there is no apparent way to store profiles on the mouse, or back them up as a separate file – that gets a black mark. So – great mouse, mostly high build quality – poor feet and indifferent profile handling.

I have relatively small hands, and even i find this mouse a bit too skinny. I’ve been using it for about 7 hours now for browsing online and playing fps games, i use a palm grip so the claw grip style of this mouse takes a bit of getting used to. The mouse feels great to handle, and the build quality is impressive. Zero problems with tracking, clicking or accuracy and all the weights were supplied and i fitted them all immediately as i like my mice on the heavier side. I just wish the dpi ‘sniper’ button was further back, as it’s placement is too far forward, and is awkward to get to when you need it the most. The scroll wheel toggle works well between free scrolling and ratcheted, but free scrolling is too sensitive and doesn’t offer any real advantages for gaming or web browsing. The wheel click feels fine, some reviewers have said they can’t press it, but i think they probably have weak kitten paws rather than real fingers. The surface tracking and calibration in the logitech software works really well, and i could feel a definite improvement on my razer vespula mouse mat after running the calibration. I would definitely recommend this mouse to anyone, unless they have large hands and want to use a palm grip.
