Sony Alpha 75-300mm F4, IM 75-300mm lense

Ok let’s get this clear, i’m no photography expert, but i enjoy dawdling about taking pictures of wildlife sitting in my back garden. Hence the propriatory lens that came with my alpha a200 eventually just felt to insignificant. I was going to buy the sigma equivalent as it was a few quid cheaper but when i saw that sony were offering cashback i thought what the hell, go for the brand name. So it came in the post, i whacked it on the camera, turned it to full extension, aimed at my missus, nothing but blackness. Then i realised i was staring at the back of her left nostril. Talk about magnification, it’s great fun. As i said, i’m no expert so can’t give you an expert review but if you want to up your magnification capabilities and you don’t want to re-mortgage the house in order to do so, this lens is just the ticket. Great fun, easy to use and feels well built.
I wanted a good zoom lense to go along and extend the parameters of my new sony a57 and i am a believer that the same manufacturers product should offer the the best match to the camera. This together with various offers at the time brought the lense into line with the competition, cost wise at least. To date the lense has not disappointed.
This lens opens up many more opportunities for better photographs. The service provided was also excellent.
Originally was gonna get the sigma 70-300mm apo, but then after reading the review saying the sony camera might break that specific lens, i decided to go with the original sony ones. I have seen review saying that this lens might give purple discolouration when zooming at the 200-300mm range, so far so good, havn’t experience this problem yet lol.
What more could one ask for as an extra to go with our sony alpha 57 lens is absolutely superb and you get some great shots especially if you can be a distance away sometimes.
Good product, bad packagei do recomend the product, but the package should have been safer. I new it wouldn’t come in the original box, but i supposed it would have come in some other box. A lousy one would have done.
The sony 75-300mm is designed to complement the standard 18-70mm kit lens, greatly extending the range without any overlap. Indeed since the 5mm difference between them is negligible, the pair offer a huge range from 18-300mm, delivering a 35mm-equivalent field of 27-450mm. The telephoto range of the 75-300mm is ideal for portraits, wildlife and sporting events, along with bringing-in any kind of distant detail.

Very good lens, able to take great photos at a distant now.
Nice clean lens it clips to my camera, and takes good photots.
I purchased this to complement the sony alpha kit i bought previously. I browsed the internet to find an equivalent lens but could not match the quality and price so i bought this one and i am not disappointed with the results. The fact it works exactly as advertised helps, however i do not have any other similar lenses to compare it with. My old 35mm film zoom lens on an om10 compares favourably. At three times the pricethe auto focus works well and quickly helping in the composition of shots.
I have an interest in photographing early church architecture the hammer beamed roofs supporting angel carvings. Using this lense with a tripod has given me some really great close up shots. And i am more than pleased with it.
This is a really good attachment for your sony alpha. I particularly like taking shots of people from afar, which blurs out the background. Surprised how good it was for the price.
This lens is ideal for my sony alfa 100. It has all the features compatible with my camera and it not only came with a cover but also came with lens hood. It was well packaged and came well within delivery time. I would have no hesitation on using this seller again.
The lens was second hand but was in fact brand new, the sony seal on the packaging never having been broken. For the price this is an excellent lens and certainly better than some of the reviews i had seen. At 300mm, the picture quality is excellent and the focussing whilst not quiet, is fairly rapid and positive with little hunting. I just wish it had a macro facility at 300mm like my old sigma lens.

Within days of delivery i used the lens at two air-shows and was very pleased with the results. Works perfectly with my sony alpha 500 dslr, no difficulties with autofocus.
Easy to use, excellent value. Wish i had bought it sooner. No drawbacks discovered so far.
Can’t really add much more to other reviews. A sony engineered, quality product, that really does out perform the cheaper alternatives from other manufacturers. It really is worth buying the best you can afford if you’re going to be using the lens regularly and for those on a budget this is an excellent must buy. I’ve used it for 10 months now without a problem and it’s given me some fantastic results – if i could work out how to upload them i’d share them. If you’ve got an entry level dslr as i have with my alpha, buying lenses can sometimes be an expensive (but necessary if you want to get the best from your camera) pastime. This is a viable and affordable quality zoom lens that i would recommend.
I purchased this lens at the same time as my sony a33 with 18-55mm kit (see review seperately). I wanted a lens that would capture pictures of friends windsurfing some way offshore, but i did not want to spend megabucks. I have a 70-210 minolta lens which i hoped would do the job, since the 35mm equivalent works out at 105-315mm (apply the 1. 5x magnification factor) but it did not get quite close enough. It still does produce, very good quality images though and i am reluctant to let it go. I read that the 70-300mm sony g lens is fabulous, but having laid out the thick end of £600 on the a33, i could scarcely justify almost the same again no matter how good the lens was. I paid £179 for this sony 70-300mm lens from comet, so the current £175 price tag is pretty good. I had the advantage of sony vat cashback on the camera and lens so it was a competitively priced package. I was expecting an ok if not blistering performance from what seems to be a budget lens, but was very surprised at how good my results were. You do need good light for the best results, as the maximum aperture is f4.
Bought it to replace my sigma which stripped its gears. I’m not an expert and this isn’t an expensive lens. But i’m more than happy with the results.
At my current age i’m not as mobile as in earlier days – most of my pictures are fairly close to home. This new sony lens allows me to get closer to subjects around the cottage and garden with ease.
For what i paid for this lens i think it is superb. I have an a58 sony camera and as i am purely an interested amateur when it comes to photography i didn’t want to spend thousands on the body and lenses. I did want better than bridge camera performance with the ability to take full control. I have taken photographs of the moon and am delighted with the results. I have photographed landscapes and have been able to control the perspective. It does a lot more than i expected it to do. Obviously it is not a top quality lens but it wasn’t top quality price either.

As you would expect with sony,a top quality product and the price i paid for it was excellent. All i need to do now is remain ‘steady’ whilst using it. Because the camera and lens are new and i’m used to using compact cameras it’s more awkward to keep still, even though the camera does,to a certain extent, compensate for your movement (i don’t want to use a tripod).
The lens is surprisingly good showing high quality detail for the most part. Certainly worth getting this lens on value for money terms alone.
No complaints at this price. I would recommend it to all who are looking for a lens for their sony.
This lens is not bad at all for the price, but it can only be considered a ‘kit lens’ which is fair enough considering that’s what it is. The build quality is reasonable enough, it’s plastic but relatively light because of it. The image quality is not particularly brilliant, and if you’re looking to take a lot of shots perhaps of wildlife or anything fast moving then be prepared for a lot of lens ‘hunting’ whilst the camera tries to lock on focus. I’ve used this lens on a sony dslr-a200k 10. 2mp digital slr camera + zoom lens kit (18-70 mm f3. Ceh digital slr camera with 18-55mm lens and my current sony slta77v. Ceh translucent mirror interchangeable lens camera (24. 0 inch lcd and i’ve suffered the same problem on all, so it’s definitely the lens. The other problem is if you plan on using a circular polarising filter then be prepared for more frustration as the front element rotates when focusing, so if you need to refocus you’ll need to adjust the polariser again. There are chromatic abberations with this lens as well as colour fringing, but remember this is a kit lens, and it’s really not expensive at all considering other options out there. If you are new to slr photography and want to experiment and broaden your options then do consider this lens, but if you want to be serious about your photography you will at some point need to upgrade to something better.
An average performance lens. Performance disappointing but will have to do until i can afford something better. 5 stars about right but you get what you pay for i suppose.
Got this for my sony alpha camera. Much better than my tamron or sigma lens. Great bit of kit for the price.

Excellent customer service from snap it up. There was a mistake on the initial delivery but charlie was very quick and efficient to rectify by email. Despite the initial mistake very impressed with snap it up customer service. The lens is now on my camera and working well thanks.
This is not the sony g lens, however image quality is very good.
I bought this lens 4 years ago and i took it to every holiday since. It’s great for wildlife photography and definitely helped me to getsome nice pictures. The price is also very reasonable.
I have replaced my sigma 75 – 300 dl with this lens and the difference is unbelievable. Sharper, quicker, better af and mf, less shake and you can format your shot in the viewfinder without guessing what your picture will look like at 300mm. It’s just an altogether better bit of kit and outperforms the other lens by so much. It’s just in another league. For the money it’s a brilliant buy and unless you want to spend £4-600 then it’s about the best you’ll get. It marries up with the 18-70 kit lens that came with my a390 and you don’t notice the missing 5mm at all. If you have a starter level sony alpha then add this lens to your camera kit.
