Canon Portrait and Travel Two Lens Kit – An excellent quality lens at a very reasonable price!

I have never had a prime lens and wasn’t sure i would see any benefit, but was wrong. The quality of images with this lens is so good and i am so pleased i decided to buy it. It is not silent when focusing but not an issue for me.
Used in conjunction with an adapter on a canon m 50.
What can i say about this lens. It’s simply fantastic value for money. This is a perfect lens for anyone wanting to experiment with bokah without committing too much money. The lens has a toy like feel to it but that’s not to say it won’t last if it is looked after properly. Pictures are most sharp at around 2. 8 but quite acceptable across the range. The auto focus isn’t quite as responsive as my usm lens but is better than most. All in all i’m sure you won’t be disappointed with this lens for the value.
Very good pictures come out brilliant.
Wanted a cheap, light lens for general use. I’m actually using this on an adapted sony a73 so that i can share with my son who’s on canon. Nice and sharp, and the bokeh isnt bad either.
Images was very good with this type of lens.

Superb Prime Lens

Really this should be your first lens

Excellent

Tack sharp with beautiful bokeh.
Great lens with great focus but touch and go when it comes to video. It makes some noise that is heavily picked up by the camera if you’re using the camera mic, but if you’re focussing slowly it’s fine. Just not useful if you’re planning to do any fast focus pulling or something.
Fantastic value for the money, excellent bokeh for portraits. The best value lense for me i’m using for my photography ,it has a fixed focal length so you will have to alter your composition for your shot.
A must have for anyone looking to step up from their kit lens but on a budget gives excellent pottait results.
Brilliant point-and shoot with a sharp and quick focus. You won’t ever need another 50mm unless you go pro. Would recommend buying a lens filter for the front in case you drop it like i did. It can take a hit at least, still works as new.

As an amateur photographer just starting out, i was advised that a 50mm lens is a must have to add to the arsenal. I couldn’t be happier with this lens. Good quality, great value for money and most importantly, the pictures have been amazing. Big upgrade from the kit lens.
I took the photo above with this lens and i think the quality is great. I’ve used this lens for portraits, landscapes, wildlife and just general day to day and it’s been really good. The only real limitation is getting big pictures close up, i would definitely pair this lens with a wide angle lens if you’re going out photographing. I’d say really good value for money and if i could only have one lens it would probably be this one.
Everyone should get one of these. Perfect for portraits and low light photography.
Haven’t really used it enough yet to comment on the portrait aspect, but with the little testing i have done, it seems to work as i expected. I purchased it at about 10pm on friday evening and it was delivered saturday lunchtime.
If you want to get your subject highly in focus whilst other features remain blurry this is the lens for you. To do this you need a lens with a low f stop. 8 which is not the lowest but it’s fairly low. It’s good for taking close up shots of nature, flowers insects etc, also good for portraits. I think at the price it is well worth it for the level of image i have got out of it.
I’ve read good things about canon’s nifty 50. This is fast becoming my favourite lens to use especially for video and b-roll outdoors. Used with the viltrox speed booster the aperture can be taken as low as f1. 2 which for lowlight shots is amazing although about level the shallow depth of field is extraordinary.

What hasn’t already been said about this stunning little lens?. Superb value for money, not out of place on my 5d4, great for low light and super sharp. The lack of is is really not an issue given it’s short length. I did buy the canon lens hood separately to go with it and always shoot with it on.
A very good lens for general photography, fast lens f1. Down side no lens hood sold with lens or pouch.
The kit lens that came with my canon 200d was pretty good, but for low light/night time urban photography i definitely needed to fix the camera to a tripod. The kit lens also lacked depth of field, though overall it allowed for great photos and video. I did a bit of research and soon stumbled upon the canon fixed 50 f1. I read other reviews, watched youtube videos and almost everyone was singing its praises. A few weeks later, after attaching it to my camera, it has become my main lens. In fact, i only use this lens. The kit lens is in the bag and hasn’t seen the light of day since i put this one on the body. I can now snap night scenes handheld and the depth of field is astounding.
Quick response lens , takes a little practice shooting on the beach after using a 4stop. Good colour spread from the rainbow. Not used for night sky yet , thanks to rain , clouds or high winds.
I was absolutely amazed what shots i can get with this lens. If you are thinking about your seconds lens, this is exactly what you have to buy, i am not kidding. The only downside of this lens is, it doesnt have image stabiliser.
Good fir low light conditions as well.

Bought this for my boyfriend (he is a lucky guy) and he is over the moon. Takes superb quality photos.
It’s amazingly clear and i’ve been able to create some amazing bokeh shots. I tend to have to move a little further away because i have a aps-c camera, but it’s great and i love using it.
I had to return this lens as it was noisy for video. Word on the internet, believe or discard as you wish. Is that the stm zoom lenses have a rack and pinion focus system, whereas the stm primes have a geared focus system. I have two stm zooms and they are brilliant for video, but i was disappointed with the noise from this one which is geared according to posts on forums etc. Any way in my opinion a great lens for photo, and possibly for video if you use a lav mic, but not based on my experience if you use an on camera mike.
I returned one that froze on focus but this one has been superb.
What a beautiful lens at a fantastic price. I’m using it in conjunction with an ef-m adapter and speed booster which opens it up to f1. 2 which is insane for the price. It’s truly the nifty-fifty.
Great wee lens for the money. Bought this after looking at reviews and tech reports.
This lens is just brilliant. Crystal-clear photos and so easy to use.
A stepping motor (Gear-type STM) supports the Movie Servo AF function in providing smooth and quiet continuous AF during video recording, as well as when shooting photos

Delivered on time and in perfect, have tried it out on close ups, for very close up need a tripod.
This is my second prime lens. For the price and the quality of the pictures i can’t fault it. The only issue i have is it is noisier focusing than other lenses i own.
Works beautifully, very sharp image and lovely blurred backgrounds.
Prompt arrival of this well packaged lens brought a smile to my daughters face, as bought as a gift yet am told this is a great lens and a great addition to her every growing collection of lenses.
I am incredibly pleased with this lens and would go as far as saying that you cannot get better quality at this price point. I am still getting used to the lens, but have had some great results already. I can not recommend this lens enough.
Bargain price for this cracking piece of equipment. Bought for daughters canon 550d. Recommended by photographer friend and not disappointed.
EF 50mm f/1.8 STM:Minimum focusing distance of 1.15 ft. (0.35m); maximum magnification of 0.21x.

I wanted a 50mm prime to use on my canon 5d to take portraits. Having read reviews for a few months this f1. 8 was consistently rated the best for the money. 2 (£1200) do give marginally better images but overall i would say this lens is more than adequate for a serious amateur. As can be seen from the photos of my grandson charlie a head and shoulders portrait has tremendous depth.
I cannot sing the praises of this lense highly enough. I brought it for my step daughters wedding and was totally blown away by the results. It’s simple to use, focus is crisp and resulting photos are super. I did buy a hoya uv filter for it as i would rather replace a filter than a scratched lense. I think the lense was excellent value for money and would recommend it.
Should have bought this years ago.
Being more of a zoom lens guy i decided to get my hands on this lens as the price is just to good not to. Being more into the zoom lenses it did take some time to adjust to the fixed focal length and using my feet as the zoom but for the image results its worth it. – its light and compact – wide apreture of f1. 8 – image quality is competes with the canon l series – the priceit has an all plastic, almost toy-like body top to front to back but as long as your not just lobbing it about theres no reason to be concernedit is a good lens for low light photography, especially indoors. Note that the filter thread does not rotate on autofocus, so you can happily use a polarising filter. This is a great introduction to photography with a prime lens.
