Opteka HD² 0 – Good for the price!

I wanted an inexpensive fisheye for some time now, this little opteka is just the job. It is very good value at just £50 you get the lens a cleaning cloth ,a pouch to store it , and a set of different size screw thread rings to fit different size lens. The red ring on the front of the lens ,makes it look like a very expensive pro lens ,of course the quality of the optics is never going to beat a canon lens , but for the money its good indeed.
As others have mentioned, this is basically just a filter which mounts onto a lens, making it into a fisheye. The quality i got out of it wasn’t great, but to be fair if you’re looking at this range for a fisheye, you probably won’t get anything else anyway. Good for a prat around with the price, but not comparable to an actual fisheye lens with the hit on quality. Although it partially comes down to the lens you’re using, at the end of the day the image is still having to run through an additional filter. Gave it four stars though, because for the price i feel it delivers what you’d expect.
20x professional super af fisheye lens for canon eos 10d, 20d, 30d, 40d, 50d, 300d, 350d, 400d, 450d, 500d, & 1000d digital slr camerathe lens performs well with my eos 450d kit lens giving me a range from wide angle to fisheye. To get the best results i found that you do need to use a small aperture. Definition at the centre is good, at the edges less so but what else would you expect at this price. The service from 47th street photos was first class. From new york to my home in spain in less than a week was very impressive and the gift in the box was the icing on the cake.
The lens works and the range is reasonable, but you are taking a photo through 2 lenses. The existing lens and this lens screwed onto the existing lens. The result is a loss of quality, slight blur, not quite in focus, loss of light. It’s not too bad, but don’t expext anything fantastic.
Looks so excellent & brilliant.
You would expect to spend a lot of money on a lens that produces such high quality imagery and interesting affects. I was bought this for a xmas present and being a student currently studying photography it gives you the chance to make imagery work within the shape of the lens which aids creating more ideas if you are feeling particularly uninspired sometimes like all photographers can do. I would recommend this to anybody it will be something you would use time and time again. It’s won a spot in my camera bag along with my other lenses.

Beginner Photographer – Great Lens For The Price

I bought this lens as i didnt want to fork out for a real fisheye as there too expensive. Im really happy with this lens it gives the effect you need and want. Sure the image quality isnt rear around your subjects and at the edges of your lens but if you want a cheap and fun lens i couldnt recomend enough. Wouldnt hesitate to buy again.
It comes with the old adage you get what you pay for. As a cut price fisheye lens it can’t really be faulted as you can’t compare with the standard several hundred pound proper fisheye lens but don’t expect the images to be completely focused or of a great quality as they won’t be. This is great for someone that just wants the effect without the detail.
If you want to capture those unique panoramas that a fish-eye lens will give you on a budget this is for you. I have yet to go and try photographing buildings in a city or town but the pictures i have taken augur well. Buy one as an experiment – you might surprise yourself.
What a great attachmenti know you could spend £550 on a proper fisheye lens but why bother when you can just stick this on the end of your kit lens?i wanted a fisheye lens to play around with and give a different angle to my photography and all i have done since my lens arrived in the post is play with it. The price was right and it definitely has a good enough quality for the results i was looking for, i wanted to test first whether i would find much use for a fisheye lens before forking out for an expensive one. So far i have used it every time i get my camera outas the results are clear and fun. The only negative thing i can say is it’s a shame they don’t supply a lens cap to fit when i the 58mm ring is attached for it to fit my camera. This means that every time i take it off i have to unscrew the ring and then replace the cap. Bonus is it comes in a little bag that fits nicely into my camera equipment bag with all spare lenses, filters, flashgun etc. If you are starting out in photography this is a handy little lens to add to your collection, save your money and test whether you need to spend so much on a professional fisheye lens.
I purchased this to use with my canon 550d and it attaches very easily using one of the screw-on rings that are provided with the product. This is a nice, cheap alternative to the expensive ‘named’ varieties of fisheye lenses available and i was quite impressed with the results. The shots taken with this lens are not particularly crisp but they do look very artistic. The edges of the photograph can seem blurry so you need to set up the shot with the focus primarily in the centre but i think you get what you pay for. I use mine with the standard kit lens that came with the camera and it attaches securely without being overly fiddly to remove afterwards. The fisheye lens also comes with a little fabric pouch to keep it safe and can be stowed in the camera bag easily without taking up too much room. I would thoroughly recommend it for camera amateurs who cannot afford a named brand as it is good for practicing with while you improve your skills. It’s a handy little lens that is great for adding an artistic edge to any photograph.

After owning this for years i still haven’t got an adapter to fit any of my lenses. Looking through it without them and just the naked eye is fun, but it should be sold with the stepping options to fit.
Excellent value for fisheye attachment without spending £100’s on full fisheye lenscomes with adapter rings for 52 and 58 inch lensesfits canon eos 58mm lensi bought it for my canon 1300d and added it onto my 18 – 55 lens and it takes great quality photosnot really suitable for low light shots.
Great fun lens adapter, does what is says. Comes with rings to enable it to be screwed onto existing lenses and can be fitted relatively easily.
I bought this for the wife, she takes family / holiday snaps with her camera and like playing and trying different affects, she did not feel that she could justify the cost of a fish-eye lens, but this ‘lens’ at the cost was worth taking a chance, the quality of the one we received is good the fitting is perfect on the canon 700d. Its not been used in earnest yet but first results for the little bit of playing that has been done have been good. If your serious about you photography then this lens might not be for you. 20x professional cost vs the canon fish eye lens cost —– it get the nod from me.
I bought this lens for my father as a christmas present. He has a canon eos camera and although this isn’t canon-made, it fits perfectly and produces great results. A canon fisheye lens retails at around £700. 00, which unfortunately was a bit out of reach, so finding this opteka product was such a relief; my dad loves gadgets and he was so thrilled with it. The quality of the lens is brilliant; both in the effects that it creates for photographs but also the physical object itself. It is a universal lens too, so can be used with other models. I am extremely satisfied with this product. As is my father, the budding amateur photographer.
Fun to use, producing ‘fisheye’ effects at a fraction of the cost of a fisheye lens and for my purposes and the limited use it will get, is perfect.

First of all please ignore the idiots giving this 1 star, of course its poor image and build quality, just look at the price. If you want quality, then pay the 1000+ for a real fish eye lens. This is a great bit of kit, its ideal for fun with friends and being creative, i often use it in my bar taking shots of customers during karaoke, i then post them on our facebook page, and they absolutely love it. Its hilarious and can often produce some stunning portrait shots. As for build quality its not that bad, i’ve battered mine and still works fine nor is there any signs of breakage. If you’re looking for something more serious, i. Wide angle/landscape photography etc then this definitely isn’t for you. I would never use this for anything serious. You lose a tremendous amount of quality at the edges, after all its just an extra piece of glass that screws on the end of your lens.
For the money spent on this lens i got a good starter lens a lens that for not much money allows me to try out the effect a fish eye lens has when taking a photo and is worth spend this amount amount of money firstly to see if i like the effect before buying a dedicated fish eye lens that will cost 4x as much now the lens is a good quality lens for the money it comes in a metal body that has quite some weight to it it is by no means a cheap plastic add on by any means now be carful when you first get the lens as the lens body consists of two parts that are screwed together and you need to make sure that the body is screwed tightly together before use. The fish eye will not work on larger lenses at all so i will only use it on a 55mm lens the quality of picture taken is not so bad at all but you will need to circle crop the picture afterwards as you can clearly see the rim of the housing after the picture is taken also you should be warned that the edges of the picture are no where near sharp but don’t forget you are buying a cheap lens so don’t expect professional results but you will still get a very decent picture effect. Now the macro part of the lens works very very well and i have managed to get some very decent pictures using this lens in macro. So this having been said for the money a worth while punt and if you’re interested in taking fish eye pictures i would advise you give this lens a try before you spend a great deal more on a dedicated fish eye lens.
Incrediblei own a canon 700d and on the canon website these lenses range around £1,000 . This lens is just as good i was completely blown away by the results. Although if you are in the professional industry and have prior experience with a better lens this may be not as good for you, but for my an amateur film maker this is incredible and so worth the money.
I really like this lens and i certainly recommend it. It’s good quality for money, easy to use, i get the desired effect,. There is indeed some quality loss around the edge (i’m talking about a couple of millimeters from the edge here) but if you’re an amateur like me, then it’s not that important. And the ring to screw the lens on was a being a bit difficult but i managed eventually and now we’re best buds. All in all, one of my best purchases ever.
I didn”t buy this for myself, but as a present for my husband as this is what he requested. I can only comment on the price, delivery and packaging – all of which i am more than happy with. I haven’t had a bad purchase from amazon yet so i am sure it will be suitable.
I don’t mean to damb with faint praise but it’s not a proper fisheye lens. Having got that out of the way until i need a proper fisheye lens this will certainly dorobust construction and a series of adaptors to match most of the lenses in my bag and a good tight fit to the lens gives a feeling of quality construction. I’ve only had it for three days and so far i’ve had two sessions shooting with it, i’m pleased with the results and will continue to use it until the point comes when i need a proper fisheye lens. A little colour aberration around the edges and a bit soft for large prints, but again, if that’s what you’re doing you should be paying for the lens. This will certainly give me the opportunity to evaluate how i would use a fisheye lens prior to spending a small fortune – a great deal for the money.
An essential tool for extreme sports and dramatic action shooters

I haven’t had a real chance to use the lens outdoors yet due to the weather so have ‘played’ with it indoors. My husband is quite impressed with the results so far and i am very pleased with it. Paying for a full fisheye lens and the use i would have got from it make this a very economical and sensible purchase.
For the price this is a nice little screw on for my 50mm lens. Without an adaptor for it to fit to another of my lens’s i cant zoom out enough to get a really good ‘fish eye’ affect, however it works really well as a wide angle lens. Im fairly new to photography but this has taken some brilliant pictures of a recent trip i took to vegas.
Excellent, good fun for an extra lens.
I ordered this opteka fisheye lens on the 8th january at around 1pm and received it by the 9th before 10am. That is amazingly fast free delivery that other sellers should take note ofi’ve already had it out the box and the first great feature is the adapter rings, it allows you to use it on a 58mm thread (so your standard 18mm – 55mm lens you usually get when you buy a camera) and there is another adapter for a 52mm thread (so something like the nifty 50 canon ef 50 mm f/1. 8 ii lens which is also fantastic). So you are not limited to what you use with it. Its arrived in a little box and comes with its own pouch and cleaning cloth which is handy, its literally a ‘straight out the box stick on your lens item’, there are no difficult instructions to folllow. I used it on my 18mm – 55mm lens on my canon 550d camera and its great, when fully zoomed out you see the lens circle shape, you can zoom in and make it fill the screen but i think the effect is better when you see the circleit’s never going to compete with the expensive lenses on the market but unless you are taking photography up as your main job then this lens will do the job perfectly. It’s great fun and for me that is what my hobby is about, i just can’t wait to test it in the city as i think that is where i will get the best out if it.
A great fun piece of kit, works very well; you may need a stepping ring but these are also available through amazon. Quality may not be up to the standards you are used to but for around £50. Check out opteka fisheye group on flickr to see what can be done at a very reasonable price. I would have no problem recommending this to friends.
First of all, look at the price. And for that you get what you pay for. It comes in a box, has a little suede lens bag and a dust cloth, the attention to detail is pretty good for £50the quality is around 6/10 but if you use it on a really sunny day it gets better to about 7 or 8/10 its a slightcurved glass which gains the name fisheye, the more you pay the better glass and greater bend you can get, and as itsan attachment to your kit lense i’d reccomend using sub 50 mm lenses for this. £50 well spent, wouldn’t really spend more of a fisheye as its quite tacky so if your a first time buyer for a fishdefinitely buy this one before you invest £400+ to get a feel.
A real nice lens that can be used for a lot of applications – i originally bought this to shoot some party photography, and it exceeded my expectations as to what images it could produce. I was a little doubtful of the resultant image quality from adding an extension to my already existing lens, but this lens retains a nice sense of clarity – the distortion naturally caused by using a super-wide angle lens is there, but it is hardly noticeable. Also a great lens for shooting sports like skateboarding/bmx/blading. Definitely worth the extra £20 compared to the cheaper lens. Best of all, very fast shipping.
High-index / low-dispersion optical glass, Fully multi-coated, every element

It gives good and fun photos for a good price. It is not a proper lens (it is an attachment to add to the end of your lens) and the quality will never match but can just about get a good affect for non serious photography. The are various attachments sized so you can try with different lens. The fish eye circle is not completely symmetrical unfortunately, so when you zoom out completely it may be a little noticeable. Also experienced the problem mentioned by others, by where if you use the camera flash you will get a shadow on the photograph due to the length of the attachment, so i tend to use only in good lighting or daylight, or to cheat a little in monochrome. It is small enough to carry around as well. I have enjoyed using it, it is not perfect, but i was not going to purchase a 300£ lens, so this is good enough for what i do and for my fun photos.
Its distortion is pretty obvious in the image and the edges are blurry but it is fine as an effect lens. But if you are looking for a ‘professional’ wide angle lens, you must simply spend more money. There is no way around this really.
Great service and great product – many thanks.
I use this lens for taking 180 degree pictures of the night sky – works great with a digital remote timer on my canon 350d for time lapse. Its great value for money compared with full interchangeable fish eye lenses, but i can only give it 3 stars because the edge definition is a little lacking – there is some noticeable colour fringing of the outer third of the field of view. This sort of distortion is much more obvious on nighttime astro pics, than on daytime views, but it can still be seen quite clearly on those as well.
For the price is a very good lens extention, i just warn you that under 35mm you will see strong vignetting, but for me is ok.
For the price is a good product. You can still play with it and have fun. Don’t expect to have best quality, branded fisheye lens are expensive.
