Qisan Keycaps Set : Item is exactly as shown in the pictures, no

Firstly, this is a nicely manufactured set of quality key caps that produce a quite realistic impression of using a typewriter. They come, not in a bag, but on a tray that greatly assists in locating the various keys for updating the existing keyboard. The only reason for the lost star in the rating is the fact that there are limitations in using this set due to potential mismatches between keyboards with respect to the larger keys. For example, the main ‘return’ key’s shape on different manufacturer’s keyboards varies from a straight wide key to an inverted ‘l’ shaped unit. This set only supports the straight key. The manufacturer’s description of the product warns to check this before purchasing, so no faults there. However, the biggest problem comes with the space bar. These have a central switch mounting, which appears to be universal across all mechanically switched keyboards. What isn’t standard are the supports either side that permit these long keys to be hit at any place along the length of the bar without pivoting on the central mounting point and jamming. I have a number of mechanically switched keyboards and only one proved compatible due to different approaches in the side supports.

Really nice for the money, way better than the key caps that came stock on my victop keyboard (aka tomoko-87). They are abs, however they are decently thick and have a nice texture. I like the stylish font too. They are pretty much exactly as described, high quality abs retro styled keycaps that fit most, if not all standard layout mechanical keyboards. The only problem was that they aren’t dampened with just 1 or even 2 o-rings so you might need to triple-ring them to dampen them, however they are open bottomed key caps so the clack sound when you bottom out doesn’t sound nearly as hollow. Overall they just make typing more pleasant with the nice texture and shape.

I bought these along with the 108 key keyboard from the same company : mechanical keyboard gaming keyboard black switch 100% full size 108 keys us layout gateron switch with ice bue backlight case white magicforce by qisanboth arrived on time from amazon and were well packed. While not a review of the keyboard i have to mention that it also came with a key ‘puller’ which made getting the key tops off very easy. The keytops themselves arrived in a box roughly the same length and width of a keyboard and i wondered why until i opened it and found that rather than just a ‘bag full of keys’ that i’d expected the keys were on a full sized keyboard ‘carrier’ which made finding the right key very easy. Working at a leisurly pace it took me just over half an hour to swap all the tops of the keys. However i was being careful and swapping only a few keys at a time and putting the keys that i took off back on to the storage carrier rather than just in to a big old pile of keys. I’m sure if i hadn’t been careful about this bit i could have done the whole thing in around 15 minutes. The keys themselves have a pleasing size and the ‘normal’ keys have a very slight indent to them. Touch typists will be happy to know that the normal home keys and the 5 key on the numeric keypad come with a raised dimple as expected. Included are a before and after of the keyboard.

Item is exactly as shown in the pictures, no problems with it at ll (received it 9 days ago). You might need some time to adjust to the keys since there’s a smaller surface area for your fingers to press but other than that, as soon as you get used to it you won’t notice a difference whatsoever.

These key caps are just superb. The quality and build is second to none – they look and feel really nice. One word of warning – the stems are quite tall – so touch typing on this keyboard has been a challenge – i have another set of round keycaps on which the stem is shorter, and they feel more ‘tactile’ and responsive. I have to use a wrist rest with these keys so my wrists and fingers are higher than the keys to be able to touch type pretty well. It has taken my £30 mechanical keyboard to a whole different level – in fact, i’m using this instead of a roccat suora with cherry mx browns because it does look so damn sexytotally happy with the purchase – thank youps: after using them for a few weeks now, i would make the following suggestion to the manufacturer – make the stems 2 or 3mm shorter – the keycaps are quite tall and changes the feel of the switches somewhat – i have another set of round keycaps that ‘feel’ so much better but when looking at them side by side the height of the stem is quite significantly taller, and touch typing feels a little of of sync.

Very nice looking keys, also the recessed centres make typing a joy. Only issue being that the keys wont necessarily fit all keyboards, i couldn’t fit the space bar, left shift and enter key but then again i dont have an american keyboard.
