Logitech G5 Laser Mouse : New or Old to gaming? This is your mouse!!

Unfortunately they don’t produce it anymore, but it’s still going strong. Had to solder the usb wire as it had been chewed through by my flatmates pet rat.

This is a nice solidly built mouse that has a textured finish. For:nice smooth movement with no problems tracking at all. Plenty of programmable buttons that are easy to access. Adjustable mouse sensitivity – the default is 800dpi i bumped it up to 1000. Against:not particularly grippy, although not really a problem as i don’t use it for games. Not designed for xxl sized hands – i find my hand sits a bit far back, would be good if the hump was more under my palm, but then this mouse is for ‘normal’ sized handsi bought this mouse as i wanted a better than average mouse with more buttons to program – which really speeds up surfing – the accurate movement is also good for design. It’s much nicer to use than your standard ‘comes with the pc’ mouse.

I’ve had this mouse for a year and i have to easily say one it is of the best mice out there. My only gripe is that after 7-8 months upon starting up the mouse would act as if it wasnt plugged in. Simply unplugging and then plugging it back in solved this problem.

Yes all, if you’re considering buying a gaming mouse believe me when i tell you this baby rocks. Great laser, the weights aren’t just a gimmick they do make a difference and so many mappable buttons, albeit you’ll need to run the software (supplied) in background to get them to function in-game. You can even map the sensitivity buttons to a keystroke giving u complete freedom to have your binoculars or nightvision instantly accessible. You’ll never understand quite how u lived without them. The diamond razer mouse is the next best contender as far as sick gamers go, but for me this mouse hits all the + points. The only thing is: middle mouse button (ie mousebutton3) can occasionally be a little awkward to press due to the left/ right tilt functions. But dont believe what others say that its unusable, these people must be ducks and have webbed fingers. I mean who uses lean control in an fps anyway??. If ur like me who doesn’t then u can map woteva you want to left and right tilt and still have middle mouse spare for some thing less important than ‘use’ command. You could get a razer, but i found that it was a horrible shape, uncomfortable to hold and felt well cheap & light.

It has to be 5 stars, this mouse has had some amazing hammer, over six years of use, i have calculated that i must have used this mouse for at least 23000+ work hours during this time, i would love to get another, nothing i have seen on the market seems to measure up, i love the feel, its accuracy, its features and i know its classed as old technology now seeing as it was designed about 7 years ago but i am really going to struggle to choose another when the time comes. So if you can get one, do as its a great bit of kit.

I’ve used a trackball mouse for the last few years for all my mmo and fps gaming. I decided to try out a ‘classic’ mouse. I have to say i’m impressed, the ability to adjust the weight is very handy. To me though, the most important feature is the texture of the buttons, nice non-slip buttons are a must when fast targetting and hot bar interaction is a requirement.

I’ve used the g5 for a while now and totally love it. It’s great for gaming and general browsing. The braiding on the cable ensures it doesn’t snag during fast mousing. The adjustable weights are excellent too, i personally use it at the maximum weight. Comfortable, with a good grippy surface. A nearly perfect mouse, highly recommended.

I bought this mouse specifically for city of heroes/city of villains mmo game as i was about to have an operation which meant i could not use my left hand at all. After some research, i chose this mouse as it had the best reviews for the best price with the most programmable buttons at the time. I was a bit worried about the look of it but when it arrived, it didn’t look so bad and i grew to like it. I was happy that i was able to program all the buttons as i didn’t need the in-game dpi changing buttons. I also like the fact that you can change the weights to however you like it. Suffice to say, this mouse lived up to my expectation and i was able to play my game completely with one hand.

I bought this for a friend for christmas and they were very satisfied with the product.

Since i bought this about 2 years ago, i’ve had two other mice. The g5 is still the best feeling one i have used. The only reason i stopped using it was because i wanted to try a new mouse, my brother is using my old g5 and it still works perfectly. It is a great mouse and if you have the chance to get it i recommend this mouse.

I got to try this mouse before buying this product off amazon, even with all its fault. My hand is fairly wide, fingers are short, but this mouse fits my hand perfectly unlike my old microsoft intellimouse 3. The side buttons are firm and responsive, the left and right mouse buttons are fairly standard but the scrollwheel is slightly harder to press then most others. There is a tendacy to ‘slip’ when pressing the scroll wheel, you may occasionally find yourself scrolling up or down by accident when doing so. The surface of the mouse is what attracted me most about this mouse, my hand sweats much less now after using this because of its texture. It’s something you’d have to try for yourself in order to comprehend since it’s really hard to explain why, it just has this ‘dry’ feel to it.

This mouse has been able to wistand my abuse even after 2 years of use. I use it for normal computing and gaming. The mouse is pretty big, for me that is a plus, since i have big hands. The setpoint software that it has, you can customize it by having 5 different speeds and changing them with just clicking the button in the mouse. This is especially a nice feature when you are playing a game and you have to make a precise shot, just slow down the dpi and go for it. To me this feature sometimes helps in normal computer use also. The weight changes is a ‘nice’ feature. But you easily can adjust to almost any weight you choose pretty quickly. So it is not that important. To conclude, this mouse is great for playing games and just normal computer use.

Item came in fast time, but the dispatch time took about a week which was slow :/ but apart from that product came in great condition boxed and brand new and works perfectly :. ]

Well after buying a lovely light show of a mouse(roccat kone) which actually made my gaming life hell. Im back to old faithful logitech, which over the years has never failed me. This mouse does the job, its comfortable and has a easy grip texture, and of course the important point is i can finally kill again :)it feels good quality, even the cord feels strong. Being female i often find that mice are too large to hold comfortably over a period of time but this is perfect, but at the same time its also not too small for a male hand either. Highly recommend this mouse.

I bought the new edition of the g5 because i was looking to replace my dell optical mouse, which wasn’t exactly a pleasure to use, the g5 on the other hand is bliss. Performance-wise the tracking and accuracy are both superb. The build quality feels solid and its not an ugly old girl either. The only problems i have witnessed so far is the middle mouse button, which takes some getting used to due to the sensitivity of the scroll right/left buttons, and the weight cartridge. I inserted my weight cartridge without any weights in just to see how it worked and unfortunately its now stuck. Luckily the standard weight doesn’t feel too light to me at all. I should also mention the software, its very easy to install and run and uses very little system resources. Overall i thoroughly recommend this mouse to anyone looking for an accurate and responsive gaming mouse.

Very pleased with the product. Nice feature of being able to add or remove weights.

Overall a great mouse for gaming and general use. The mouse comes with little tin of weights which can be used to custom tune the feel of the mouse. Has a feeling of quality and being corded (the cord is woven textured) you do not have to mess with batteries.

Logitech G5 Laser Mouse : True, this is a very good gaming mouse, but be careful of ordering from companies other than amazon. As i ordered my mouse from one of the external companies and recived the stardard g5(silver and orange, which i already have) even though i ordered the blue vein one as shown on the page. Very dissapointed so have repainted it myself. But concerning the functionality of the mouse it is excellent, supposadly the same tech as the blue one. The only annoyance is that is seems lacking with just the back button, where the thumb is positioned(needs more buttons). So again be carfeul when ordering from external companies, and if you can pay the extra for the amazon model.

Mice are very tactile objects, so it depends as much on the individual as anything if you like a particular model. The g5 is fairly comfortable, being on the larger side for mice. At first i thought it was heavy, but it glides very smoothly and in the end i actually added a bit of weight to it. It fits in the hand fairly well, although the forward/backward buttons are not ideally positioned. For everyday use, a lighter mouse might be better. The microsoft optical ones are not bad, and cheap. The real problem i have with this mouse is it’s cost. It just isn’t that much better than the £5 samsung optical mouse i normally use.

Well apart from the fact that the price dropped the day after i bought it, so far am very happy with this. Certainly the best mouse i’ve owned. Mouse wheel just clicky enough, sensitivity very good (i doubt it uses a super cheap sensor + interpolation the way many supposedly high dpi mice do) and customizable weights work very well (admittedly, some might find such a concept just way too geeky, but if you use the pc a lot its genuinely useful, honest), and size is just about right. But most of all it doesn’t seem to lose tracking and go berserk on fast movements (i. In games) as many optical/laser mice do in my experience. Still, the trouble with amazon reviews for most things is they are usually written after only having the product a short while. Paying this sort of money for a mouse it had better carry on working for a good long while, which doesn’t seem to be the experience of every reviewer here.

This is the best mouse that i’ve ever used. No rubber ball to get mucked up, or contacts to keep cleaning. But, the best of all is the way that it fits my hand – greatyou even get a box of little weights, that fit into a tray, which goes into the mouse, making it just the right weight for your hand movements. All the buttons are in just the right place. Dead easy to change from tab, to tab, on the web – just flip a button, just above where your thumb naturally lies. It might sound soppy, coming from a 65-year-old, ex-para – but, i love my mouse.

I was very skeptical about getting a laser mouse but this was from a bad experience with optical mice when they first came out. When i first open the mouse it was extremely light but with the weights that are provided i could get the balance just right. The on the fly sensitive change ability comes in very useful when switching from games to applications to design work etc.

This is my first ‘gaming’ mouse and althought it was highly recomended i had a few worries due to my previous experience with logitech equipment. This one mouse puts those worries out of my mind. The mouse is worth every penny. Its well thought out and implemented. I love how you have a small screen on it stating what the dpi setting your on. In a sort summary these are the reasons i would advice purchasing this specific mouse:1) the weight system helps in grip amoung other things2) up to nine buttons to configure really helps in game3) its not over priced, like so many over accesories4) the dpi comfiguration is genius in my opinion5) finaly the software you download with it is easy and simple to use. So to summaries a geniuse bit of kit which i definantly advice to all who like gaming.
