Top quality versatile ‘walk about’ lens.

Good for portraits, landscapes, creative and close up photography. The only downside is its weight particularly if fitted to a canon full frame camera, but you soon get use to it. I have used this with polarisers and nd filters and the results are always excellent. Recent trials with close up filters turned it into a macro lens so i would not only recommend this lens but also a selection of filters as previously mentioned.

Super fast focussing, image stabilisation, and high quality optics. If you can afford to buy this lens, just do it. You won’t regret your decision.

A very versatile lens of fantastic quality. This was the first lens i bought for a new dslr and it has provided consistently good results. A great lens to take travelling and it provides a good focal range.

I bought this to go with my canon 60d having just upgraded my kit from a 400d. Having taken my first venture into the world of the ‘l’ series lens you can see the difference in build, mechanical and optical quality. This is a great multi purpose lens ideal for someone who wishes to take a few on their travel with them. I travelled around the cotswold and this rarely left the camera apart form long distance shots where i was using my sigma 100-400m monster.

Arrived on time and very happy with it so far.

This lens not only looks and feel great, but also delivers everything the other reviews are promising. I would like to point out something that is missing from most reviews, and freaked me out when i first unpacked and used it:the image stabilising system on the l series is quite loud in physical noise ( not image noise), which i first assumed was a indication of it being broke – it’s not. This can be a problem if you intend to shoot video and do not have an external microphone as your cameras mic will pick up on the whirring sound.

Is lets me take sharp photos at 1/30s. Not too heavy (but not light). Not much vignetting at 24mm f4 as i expected, which is a great bonus. (on an original 1ds / full-frame) i am yet to try this lens on my 50d but i am confident it wont vignette (crop sensor). 105mm is long enough for portraits in the studio. 24/35mm is quite close on the zoom ring. With cameras getting better iso, f4 is more than enough for my uses. (i shoot at f8 most of the time and if i ever need a shallow depth of field i slap on the ‘nifty-fifty’ / 50mm 1. 8) for £300 less than the 24-70mm 2. 8, this lens is easily within the same league in terms of image quality, if not better. I have used both lenses and so i am speaking from experience. Oh and i hear it is great for video so that’s another point for investment.

Cannot fault this lens, both full frame and cropped sensor produces great results.

I know there is mark ii but this one is already an excellent lens, very sharp, works well with crop and full frame cameras, excellent all rounder. It is heavy and is a bit noisy so probably not good choice for making videos but an excellent glass for stills.

Bought the lens to go with a 5d iii body. Overall pleased with it, but it does creep when pointed downwards. Had to use a band on it to stop it moving.

Replaced my 28-135 is lens when i had my canon 40d with the upgraded lens yielding excellent sharp results; good solid build and effective is. This is my main lens on my canon setup (nikon is main system) and used it to no problems (only problem was the nut behind the camera) yielding sharp excellent images even wide open at f/4 with beautiful brokeh as well. 2 advantages is that the aperature is standard throughout the zoom range and also took nikon several years to shape up and come up with its own version which is slightly poorer and more expensive than canon version. Also don’t see the need of selling lens i brought for good price of around £600 for the more recent 24-70 f4 l is which may be sharper and have less distortion abbrevations,etc but is expensive at over £1400.

A very good lens that provides clear and sharp footage. It’s good to handle and, after two years of use, everything works just like it must.

Canon ‘l’ series lenses are great quality. We all know that but this one fits my needs to a ‘t’. I use it on my 7d and 1d iin for motorsport photography and general photos. Fast focus, clear quality, great images. Stabilisation is used all the time as i hand hold all the.

As expected for canon products. Good quality, excellent delivery and item much cheaper than the high st. E-bay was more expensive but after i’d not confirmed purchase they reduced it grrr- lol but not by much so still satisfied.

This lens has a list price of over £1,000, however, most retailers seem to be selling for around £800. By buying through this seller, i’ve managed to save a further £300, and all that was missing was the original box the lens was exactly as described, in new condition, complete with front and rear canon caps, and canon lens hood, as well as the original lens bag, plus the delivery was very quick. It’s seems a very, very good deal to me.

Excellent all rounder use it all the time. If i have to use another lens for something else, after use i always put this one back on. Good value for money, from this seller delivery took less than a week.

I bought this to use as my primary wedding lens, paired with a 6d body. No complaints about the image quality and the focal length range is very useful to have in one lens. Build quality is excellent, as you’d expect from an l lens. Zoom and focus rings operate smoothly, and the af is quick. Overall i can’t really find any fault with this lens.

As my first l series lens, i spent weeks debating between this and the 70-200mm f4l canon ef 70-200mm f/4. 0 l is usm lens which i had borrowed for a weekend previously and enjoyed using. The final factor for me was that this is a true walkaround lens from macro shots to portrait and is fairly compact in its size when compared to the 70-200. I use mine on a 500d, so with the crop factor i have enough flexibility on the focal length to very rarely reach for another lens. The build quality is fantastic, has a great weight to it but not too much to become a chore. The usm is super fast and silent, and the fact that there is a full time manual focus ring without switching the af off is great, a function i wasn’t used too on my ‘kit’ lenses. Before venturing out for the first time i invested in a hoya pro 1 filter to protect the glasshoya 77mm pro1 digital protector filter. The images that result from this lens are great quality, the difference between this and a kit lens is plain to see. Don’t hesitate any longer, buy now.

I am using this lens on a 600d along with an ef-s 10-22mm, which seems like a nice combination for a crop sensor. Autofocus is very fast, silent, and accurate. Sometimes i wish for a wider aperture, but the canon ef 24-70mm f/2. 8l is a) twice as much money, b) has shorter zoom range, and c) does not have is. 8 is closer in terms of price, but still doesn’t have the zoom range of the 24-105. Perhaps if you already have (or plan to buy) a 70-200 lens, the tamron is a better pick. Image resolution is very good, allows considerable cropping. Construction is very reassuring, as many people say: ‘built like a tank’. I really haven’t found anything about this lens to be disappointed about.

Been after this for a while now, finally have a 24-105 l lens and i love it. All the previous reviews cover everything on build quality, image quality and handling. I had an 18-135 previously so this is not as wide or as long which will take a bit of getting used to but i knew that before i purchased it and i have a wide angle and a telephoto for those occasions. The lens covers every day use and compliments my 7d perfectly, the expense and wait were worth it.

This lens adds to my stock alongside its older sister. Very much a bread and butter lens which spends 70% of time on the camera body. Now this new one does the same on another body.

A very useful and adaptable lens, i use this more almost all general photographs, portrait and landscape. Whilst the lens is heavy this is no real hindrance to its use, photos taken are sharp and detailed, down side is filter etc have to be bought again to fit the 77mm lens size. Value for money yes , expensive but worth it.

Great little lens, even if it is a kit lens. I still use it for weddings and love the range on it.

Works well on my 550d and my 7d it’s a really good walkabout lens, and gives very sharp images it’s been a great purchase and i would recommend it to anyone.

I bought this lens, used from an amazon seller, and i love it. I use it all the time and it spends most of its time attached to my 60d and sometimes my 5d. Pin sharp shots, can’t fault it.
