SteelSeries Apex, Gaming Keyboard, 4-Zone RGB Illumination, 22 Macro Keys, (PC) – UK QWERTY Layout – Great keyboard, bought primarily for gaming by my teenage

This may be sold as the apex raw but is in fact the apex 350. Product arrived well packaged and in a very timely manner. The actual keyboard box held everything nicely secure and protected and in addition to the keyboard contained a basic instruction manual and pair of rubber feet to adjust the height of the keyboard. On removing from the box the first thing i noticed is how long this keyboard is, while thickness and width were about normal. The keyboard is reassuringly weighty and there is very little flex/twist across the board. The usb cable is a nice diameter, quite heavy to the touch and nicely braided and is quite long at over 2. It also has two usb connecters on the end, one to connect the keyboard and one to power the two usb pass-through ports located either side of the cable on the back of the keyboard. Overall the keyboard has a very premium look and feel and (unlike the photos on amazon) is a uk layout. One problem people may find is the excessive length of the keyboard forces the wasd keys and the mouse further apart than normal.

Great item fast delivery thank you.

Absolutely fantastic keyboard, has numerous macros for mmo’s it has 16 million colours to choose from with 5 light zones, including colour shift. The keys are soo nice to type on, absolute bargain £62 highly recommend.

This is an attractive looking keyboard and while it takes a little getting used too it offers a lot of functionality. In an ideal world it would have mechanical keys but at this price point i suspect that would be asking a bit too much. If you are looking for a premium keyboard below the price point of a decent mechanical one then this is a good option. I have been pleased with it so far.

Really didn’t want to spend a fortune on mechanical keyboard, but couldn’t get the idea of a ridiculously colourful keyboard off my mind. Typing experience is really nice, and great for gaming with more programmable keys than i could ever need (seriously, like 6 would have been fine) some colours are more vibrant than others, but still looks great, software is easy to use and gets updated every couple of weeks. Nice braided cable and 2 usb sockets are handy. Minor nuisance is that you don’t seems to be able to get all sections of the keyboard to change colour in sync, they sort of update at slightly different times but never mind still excellent.

The macros work great especially been able to record yourself perfect for mmo it is big so check the size first the only down is i cant seam to get the diagonal arrows to work i wanna macro them for q and e im probably missing something so obvious but its still worth 5 stars.

  • Love/Hate

  • Great keyboard, smooth and quiet

  • Great keyboard, worth the extra saving up.

Too big, very hard getting used the layout. Steelengine2 has very large foorprint, 70mb to 150mb, it varies. Steelengine3 will not work without an internet connection & full access to it. Keyboard has been put away until i can find a way to sell it, used for 2 weeks, give it up as a bad buy.

Steel series keyboard best i had yet 10/10.

Great keyboard, bought primarily for gaming by my teenage sons. Version arrived quickly and was, as anticipated, a uk version (the pic showed us version).

Great keyboard, smooth and quiet, keys are nice a tight for gaming too. Had reservations about the purchase this for ages as it does not tell you if the keyboard is in uk layout, despite the images being incorrect and the description not saying, and even the box it was delivered in printed as us layout this is in fact a uk layout keyboard. Lets see if i am any better at starcraft now.

I got this for my boyfriend for his birthday and i have to say he is really happy with it. . One you get used to the smaller space bar all is ok. The light are perfect when gaming if you like the lights off in the room and is very comfortable for writing too.

I expected indivudual keys to light up indipendently, but its just the panels / sections on the whole. Over all still an excellent keyboard with many easy to program macros :).

Brilliant keyboards and bargain.

I love steelseries products and this one is no expection, it takes a bit of time to get used to such a huge keyboard but the ammount of customization is incredible, highly recommend.

My son wanted this for xmas and finds it excellent. He loves that he can change the colours of the keys.

Awesome keyboard exactly as described and came 3 weeks early.

I had been originally looking at the c. 5 keyboard, which was half-price at ebuyer and whilst looking around i came upon the top 10 gaming keyboards 2014 reviews and spotted the number 2 item – the steelseries apex gaming keyboard – which i liked the look of more than anything else. I then proceeded to look at different reviews on different sites which almost always praised the build quality, features and utility of this particular keyboard. So, i took the plunge and finally bought it – from pc world of all places, because it was the cheapest supplier: £74. Opening the box:my first impression upon opening the box – despite reading about the large size in the reviews – was “my god, it’s huge” certainly, i was lucky that i had checked the dimensions and measured the keyboard shelf on my computer table. A couple of centimetres larger and i’ve been trying to get the keyboard beside the mouse. But, the packaging is more than adequate to protect the keyboard and it comes with a suitably long usb cable so your computer can be a distance away from the keyboard. As to the build quality, it feels robust and is made of a mixture of matte and gloss plastics. All in all, the first impression was favourable. (my grandson’s first comment when he saw the keyboard was “that’s awesome”)installation:installation is fairly simple, but you need to go to the steelseries website and download and install their ‘steelseries engine’ software which i had already actually done having read the other reviews. The usb cable, which is braided (always nice) has two usb connectors, one for the keyboard itself, whilst the other provides power and a usb for the two on-board usb ports. Although, i would have preferred the usb ports to be somewhere other than the back of the keyboard – one each side of the cable. But, if the keyboard is on a table top they are easily accessible. So, once the software is installed it was a simple case of plugging the usb connectors in and that was it.

Fantastic keyboard, does all as advertised and is stunning on a desk. The software is easy to use and useful, and multicoloured lights are cool.

Soooo good, use it for cs:go, quiet as well. Programmed different buttons for passwords, emails etc. Makes logging into things quick af.

Definately the best keyboard i’ve ever had the pleasure of using. The endless possibilities with 22 macro keys and different layers to assign different kinds of macro keys too. The keyboard is quiet, large and very well lit up. Its size could be considered a positive and negative depending on the space that you have. If anyone has any questions i’ll gladly answer.
