Cooler Master Mizar Gaming Mouse “SGM-4005-KLLW1 : lots of bang for your buck

Comes with a 2 year guarantee ( for the person that had problms after 18 months ) it is a ‘ full size’ mouse but comfy to use – buttons respond well. Dpi switchable and the higher settings 4000 dpi seem so sensative that i haven’t used them. I havejust used the first 2 dpi settings but perhaps i will discover a game where i need the upper dpi. The instructions – well there aren’t any and many will say you don’t need them but it installed straight away using the standard windows drivers – but no opportunity i can find to re assign the 2 side buttons – they seem to move pages [back] & [forward] on web pages – i would prefer a minimise action but each to their own, the fact that there are no instructions means i don’t know if that is it and because no specific drivers unable to change. On the website you can download drivers but all they seem to do is change dpi ranges and the colours of the dpi indicator. Overall happy but not sure it is good value as for the features and lack of software it is a small step up from my non gaming microsoft mouse. If it were £20 i would say it was great at £30 it is ok.

I bought this gaming mouse for my son and because i don’t know much about the product i’m going to let him write this review. I waited some time before writing this review because i wanted to see how well this product could perform. I recieved the mouse without any problems about 3 months ago and have used it since. It has performed really well and hasn’t given me any problems. There are 4 dpi possibilities, white stands for 800, red for 1600, blue for 3200 and green for 6400 ( the last could be the other way round ) but all of these settings can be changed by installing the cmstorm software for free off the internet, not only does this software allow the change of dpi but also it allows to choose the led colors, allows you to set up macros and many other things that i haven’t tested. My hand is quite small and the mouse fits perfectly and does not slip, but i have also made a friend with a much bigger hand. He used it and he found it very comfortable to hold even if he used to using a logitech g502. On the sides of the mouse there is a rubber layer that makes, even if you sweat, the mouse will not slip out of your hand. The sensor that this mouse has is very good, it has always responded to my movements precisely and without any delay. It is a laser sensor but this didn’t cause any problems in finding a good mouse pad.

-alcor review-not a bad cheep mouse. Ergonomics are quite good, with only one button (the forward thumb button) at all difficult to reach and use with an average hand size. It’s comfortable to use, but is on the lighter side so if you like your mouse heavy this might not be for you. Of note is the fact that the dpi buttons are also used for switching the led colour so you can’t, for example, have it set to full dpi and also have the colour as red. Led colour should have been a separate button. Build quality is okay, not great but not terrible. The plastic does feel a little bit cheep to me though. Also there is no software included unfortunately. Packaging is nice and simple. On the whole, if you’re looking for a cheep gaming mouse there are many more worse options than the alcor.

Very nicely shaped mouse, big and light. New firmware allows it to track at 400 dpi. The lift off distance is high but it can easily get fixed with the tape trick. My performance went up using this mouse, it has an excellent sensor. The shape really fits my hand and i am satisfied.

This is a plug and play mouse from coolermaster with an optical sensor capable of 4000 dpi. Dpi settings in the firmware are selected by buttons behind the scrollwheel. I prefer low dpi settings and flashed the firmware to a version which allows me to use my preferred setting 400. Those who prefer higher dpi settings should use the originasl firmware. The colour of the scrollwheel lighting shows which dpi setting is active. This mouse is shaped similar to the deathadder but slightly smaller – very similar to the zowie ec2 in fact. The rubber paint finish feels pleasant and provides sufficient grip. The thumb buttons are very well placed and nice and soft to actuate. The biggest compliment i can pay to this mouse is that i can play for hours and not even notice the mouse it is so comfy. It feels very similar to my zowie ec2 but that mouse is a £50+ investment and the alcor is half that.

Arrived on time and as described.

Designed in a way that’s supposed to accommodate for all hand sizes and grip styles, cooler master have certainly made a bold claim with one of their latest computer mouse products. The mizar is a gaming mouse that aims to offer total comfort thanks to an ergonomic design, and contoured mouse body that offers plenty of grip. Thankfully for cooler master, they have certainly delivered on their promises, and developed a great mouse that finds the perfect balance between having a gaming, and general desktop mouse identity. As someone that is used to using a different style of mouse shape, it was surprising how fast i was able to adapt to this new hand placement. Moving over to the mizar felt natural, and before i knew it i was using the mouse as well as my previous one. The curved body on top works nicely with the palm of the hand, and the sides curve in nicely and offer a nice ridge to place your fingers. Within these areas there is a great rubber material that offers plenty of grip as well as comfort. As far as comfort is concerned, this mouse gets it right, and all the buttons fit in logical areas that don’t require you to stretch your fingers over. As you would expect from a mouse in 2014, in addition to the standard right click and left click buttons, there is a scroll wheel placed in the centre. This wheel – much like the sides of the mouse, provides plenty of grip with a comfortable material placed over it.

The firmware makes this mouse obsolete after about a year of use. The mouse will begin random failures during use after a time and the driver updates make it yet more temperamental with issues such as the mouse flicking to the bottom left corner of the screen for no reason. I have searched but can find no fix for this issue. In addition to this, the cable is quite fiddly and will require tacking down to prevent irritation. Was tempted to downgrade to 2. 5* but the consistent nature of the performance up till recently make me leave it at 3, given that the product has a 2 year warranty which is something i am looking into.

  • No nonsense mouse for those who prefer comfort

  • A lesser Microsoft Intellimouse v3, but at least this one is still being made

  • -Alcor- A comfortable cheep mouse, but it has a few issues

It’s the closest i’ve found to the venerable microsoft intellimouse v3, enough that i bought a second one when the first started getting quirky from some unfortunate tumbles, but it’s not quite there. The sensor is good and tolerant of awkward surfaces like legs and chair arms, but the sensitivity levels are too far apart: the lowest is lower than the im, the second higher, and the two levels above are mad and will need you to turn mouse sensitivity way down in windows/the game, but also very twitchy and noisy. The large glowing light is kind of annoying when not obscured by your palm. Ergonomically, it’s similar to but again not quite the same as the im, being slightly smaller. It’s standing against a great, and it can’t match up, except that this one exists, and the im is now fading into history as microsoft refuse to make any more.

This mouse is very basic but it does the job. It feels quite cheap and it is very light which isn’t great for me as someone who prefers a heavier mouse. It is very comfortable though and good sensitivity customisation. The buttons on the top are nice.

A budget mouse that upped my gaming. I was using a £20 budget mouse for a while and was doing ok in games online, but had had enough of the mouse dragging and catching during use. So i took the leap and spent a few dolla, this little beast is epic for its price. I was able to get more kills and snap to alot quicker in online games like pubg and bf1. Aswell as having a really comfy build and very accessable buttons. I enjoy using this mouse every day.

Best mouse i have used to date (that worth less than £50) very good value for money. I even prefer this to my old razor abyssus. Just feels more comfortable and the ease of access is lovely.

Had this mouse for almost a year now and it still works perfectly, even with extensive use daily.

My son is very happy with this, it does what it says. He glows red when in use and works well.

I am very pleased with my purchase.

We bought this mouse for use with a desktop computer, both for home office work and gaming. It suits both uses as you can adjust the scrolling speed just by clicking the button on the top. Your speed is shown by a colour cahnging icon on top of the mouse. It is very responsive and comfortable in the hand. We would buy again as it does exactly what we need it to.
