Corsair K70 Vengeance Performance FPS Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard – /Cherry Brown : Best Keyboard I’ve Ever Owned!

I’ve been a fan of corsair’s peripherals for a while now, rocking the m65 vengeance mouse and the k60 keyboard. If there’s one thing that corsair do well it’s good build quality and simple design. The k70 is no exception, although very similar to my old k60 i must admit that it feels that much more polished. Having cherry mx blue switches for every key as opposed to just the main letter grouping is a great start. I must admit that i wasn’t expecting to like the back-lighting on the keyboard and was dead set on turning it off completely. But the k70 has actually managed to change my perspective. I left it on during one session of dota 2 and it actually saved me in a teamfight where i lost my sense of place on the keyboard and has done so many times before. There are some other small features that can offer great advantages for gamers and enthusiasts alike. The windows lock button of course can be invaluble in games but can also help during video editing if you’re using a lot of key commands. A nifty feature for enthusiasts is the profile switch on the back of the board where you can change the millisecond polling rates between 4 setting and also a bios compatibility function.
Just got this keyboard today and have been using it comfortably for a few hours. *such* an improvement over membrane keyboards, it’s unreal. I’ve been receiving treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome, and the mechanical keys are a revelation, taking only minimal effort to activate, but being spaced far enough apart that you can’t hit them accidentally. This is vastly more comfortable than even my old logitech wave or microsoft ergonomic boards (which were good, but a bit spongy). My only gripe is that, while the keys are a joy to use, the wrist rest is totally pointless. With my fingers resting on the keys (as i type this), no part of my hand or wrist is touching the rest. My wrists are actually on the desk about 1/2 an inch beyond where the rest ends, meaning that i would have to tilt my hands back to use this without a separate wrist rest. If you are an rsi sufferer, make sure you get a good gel wrist rest and this keyboard becomes probably the best keyboard i’ve ever used.
When i decided to buy this, i did think it was too expensive (around £110), however it was my first mechanical keyboard (also first serious keyboard – i had always just stuck with a free one secondhand or any keyboard that i could possibly get my hands for the cheapest possible. Pros:- the change from a normal, rubber dome keyboard to mechanical switches is insane. The novelty will wear out, but you will enjoy mechanical switches over rubber dome, i guarantee it. – metal construction gives a premium look and feel, and is also cool to the touch, although you will typically not feel that if you use the wrist rest. – included wrist rest definitely helps reduce fatigue, especially if you type for extended periods of time. – the usb port definitely helps if your computer if a decent distance form you – you can easily plug in a memory stick or game controller straight into the back of the keyboard. – easily removable key caps (included key cap puller) allow for easy cleaning if dust and/or hairs go underneath the keys. – included ‘gaming’ wasd and 1-6 textured key caps. I would not recommend using them for normal use for obvious reasons. – 3 brightness levels, as well as customisable back lighting to suit your needs.
I absolutely love this very responsive keyboard. The packaging was first class and the keyboard itself feels very well built. The braided cable is real quality too, just make sure that you have 2x spare usb ports available for it. I actually ordered the wrong one, after watching many reviews on youtube i fell in love with the rainbow lights and actually thought i was ordering that keyboard however please note that this is not the rgb one. The only back lit colours on this keyboard are red (off, low, medium and high) so please don’t make the same mistake as me, if you want the multi coloured keyboard lighting then you need the k70 rgb. As it happens, i am glad i ordered the wrong one as the keys are still fully programmable and it doesnt require the 142 page manual that comes with the rgb version. If you play world of warcraft, you might want to opt for the k90 as it has extra macro buttons (not essential even to wow players) but this k70 non rgb really oozes quality in a keyboard (if your happy with red back-lighting. The matt finish hides finger marks well, but the included wrist rest does show them up, however it is easy to wipe clean. Keys are easy to remove with the included tool. No complaints at all, thanks corsair.
My son was delighted when his new gaming keyboard arrived. We originally order via amazon from a different company and they let us down we waited over two months for a delivery date, so my son looked on amazon again and found this company to order from and within two working days it arrived. He loves the features of some of the keys lighting up in red. Good value for money and excellent delivery. I would recommend ordering from this company 100%.
Looks very cool and feels solid and well built. The keys are nicely raised above the actual board so anything small you drop just slides down or easy to get out. Back lite is nice and the media keys are useful if you listen to lots of music. It does require 2 usb ports, one for the keyboard and the other for the usb port on the keyboard so enough power for a external hard drive. Probably the best keyboard i have ever purchased.

This is the highest quality keyboard i have ever owned. I bought it as part of my computer setup overhaul. I read the review on pcgamer. Com and am not disappointing. Apart from a few small nitpicks, this is really the best. I transitioned off of a high-quality membrane keyboard (saitek eclipse 3), which had very hard keys. It takes a while to get used to mechanical keys. The cherry mx browns are very comfortable for my book translation project, but their benefit is much less noticeable during gaming. Still, my saitek iii gave me finger cramps, especially with the ‘w’ key digit and these do not.
Typing this review on it :-)i had never used a keyboard of this caliber before, but read alot about this keyboard and thought why not. So glad i did, very very responsive, having only the keys i use for games lite up helps alot in a fire fight :-dthe volume wheel is great, the media keys are a must when having music on while gamingits all good.
I love this keyboard, at first i really wanted the blue keys because i do love the sound of mechanical keyboards, but because corsair discontinued them i went for the browns as gaming isn’t all i do on the pc, the sound of this keyboard is still fantastic without being excessively loud, my 3 year old sister can sleep in the room next to mine with no problems while i get a great orchestra of clickyness :d the build quality is absolutely astounding, the brushed aluminium feels like solid metal and the hard rubber hand rest stays firmly in place whole supporting my hands in a very comfortable position, absolutely no bad points and the software really isn’t as hard to use as most say.
I love this keyboard is well made the upper part is made of aluminium, the wrist pad is hard rubber and the key have a soft smooth finish. I bought the one with blue cherry switch and i can say that the feeling is great the only thing is that they’re louder than expect it, if you will place this keyboard in the bedroom and use it when somebody else is sleeping in the same space then you may want to consider the brown version.
This keyboard is amazing, if you have the money and are looking for a good quality mechanical keyboard then this is the best keyboard i think you can get for your money. The keyboard is very very well built, it is very very sturdy (apart from the wrist rest which is plastic, but is still strong considering what it will be used for) as it is made from high quality metal, the keys them self are very satisfying to type on (i have blue key switches, the loudest out of them all) and is extremely responsive. The led’s on this keyboard are very good, i noticed a big difference between this keyboard and the k60, the red led’s are alot brighter and light up the keyboard really nicely as they keys actually rest slightly above the keyboard which allows light to spill out, giving it a really nice glow. The extra keys that come with the keyboard are also very useful, i play alot of counter strike and being able to find my way back to wasd without having to look is a nice touch. The scroll wheel for the volume control works very well, i actually use this all the time along with the mute button instead of going into the volume control on my computer. I think thats everything i can comment on, last thoughts are, amazing keyboard, worth the money, incredibly well built and will last a long time thanks to that. Another amazing product from corsair.
Really good keyboard packed with tons of features and a really good build quality. Only minor issue of not feeling as good at typing as with my cmstorm quick fire which feels much nicer to type on. Back-lighting is great and is really good for gaming.
Love the feel of the keyboard, i use it for software dev rather than gaming but well worth the money. In addition, i spilt drinks on it twice, and i stripped all the keys off, took the top cover off and soaked in alcohol for a day then rinsed in the shower. Two days drying in the airing cupboard, reassembled and its working perfectly.
My old keyboard busted at the right time, when i was minorly-obsessed with gamer gear. I decided to go mechanical for no other reason than i heard it was the thing to do, and i didn’t want to buy another keyboard in the near future. A few months i have been using this and i’m now used to typing, for the first week i was unsure, as i felt my fingers were getting fatigued more compared to my old logitech solar keyboard. But as the weeks and months went on, like anything i got used to it. Fast forward to today, i love whacking the keyboard such as the end of a sentence or word, just for the satisfying feel. Nothing moves or feels like it’s going to break, it’s a lovely solid build. The disable-windows key is also great as for gaming, i have controls around there and often i hit the windows key by mistake.
This keyboard is put simply brilliant, its easy to set up ( be aware that you need 2 free usb ports). Its hard to sum up the noticeable difference between a standard keyboard and a mechanical keyboard but for me the difference is definitely there, i also find the placement of the keys to be perfect for somebody like my self with medium sized hands. Although i use this keyboard for gaming mostly ive definitely noticed a massive increase in the speed of my writing because of the key placement. The keyboard its self has a very sturdy structure and a beautiful finish.
Picked this up to replace a cheap backlit keyboard when some of the keys began to work intermittently – and have now been using it for around 6 months. Was a little unsure whether i’d regret buying a mechanical board due to finding it too noisy or disliking the action of the keys compared to what i had been accustomed to using. But in reality the mx browns are pretty quiet and i’ve found them easy to get used to. Purchased for a mix of general typing use and gaming, i was willing to pay a premium for something that was durable and that had the ability to customise the lighting – and i can say that the k70 fulfils both those needs admirably. The supplied software (corsair utility engine) seems to be a little buggy at times – always giving an obscure error on startup which i’ve yet to resolve, but doesn’t hinder the ability of the keyboard to do its job – and very rarely resulting in the keyboard not working on startup and requiring to be disconnected and reconnected to usb to activate – but these are very minor niggles which don’t materially alter my opinion that this is a great keyboard. Lighting profiles are easy to configure as are macros although i’ve not used them much as yet. There is quite a lot of light visible around the base of each key as well as through the symbols/letters but i find this just complements the lighting effect. I’d looked at other keyboards with additional features such as usb passthrough and additional function/macro keys but decided that these were un-necessary ‘gimmicks’ that i didn’t really need, since i’ve already got usb ports within easy reach and enough available key combinations under my fingertips / mouse hand for the games i play. So far the k70 has been rock solid, custom lighting is great, and if the utility niggles can be resolved that will be the icing on the cake.
A fantastic keyboard and a huge step up from a wireless, non mechanical keyboaard, for gaming. I used to use a microsoft curve kb and it was great for typing but to small and clumbsy for games. This keyboard takes some getting used to for typing with its sensitivity but works a treat after a short adjustment period. This keyboard looks superb and the individual key back light customisability is great for low light gaming. The product shipped fast and was packaged adequately, no negative feedback for product and service.
Corsair K70 Vengeance Performance FPS Backlit Mechanical Gaming Keyboard – Black/Cherry Brown : Since long i was eyeing the mechanical keyboard and i was in search of a product which gives comfort of typing, lighting solution and is completely mechanical with mx cherry red keys. There were plenty of options in my region except of corsair. Till now, only k30 is available. Amazon, ebay and newegg, all don’t ship to my country and i was out of options. Then charm came and a business trip to uk went fruitful. I was right in my choice to wait for this keyboard rather then getting any other available option. I love the layout by corsair. The clicking sound of the keyboard rather makes me feel good. Keyboard is very comfortable when in use particularly during gaming sessions.
I forgot how good mechanical keyboards feel to type on. I find the supplied red keys a bit silly and have left them in a drawer. The volume wheel works really well and the windows key lock is a neat function. Be advised that the keyboard is pretty loud when typing. I enjoy the sound, but others in your vicinity may not appreciate it as much. Negative: the led back-light dazzles/flickers out of the corner of my eyes so i keep it at the lowest level.
It is obviously noisier than a rubber dome keyboard but the clicks are pretty satisfying. The build quality is immense, everything on the board oozes quality. The backlighting is cool and the selective lighting feature is actually far more useful than i had originally thought. I am using the replacement keys for wasd and the numbers and find that the slightly contoured nature of a and d is really helpful for relocating the keys. I spent a good while contemplating whether or not a keyboard could possibly be worth 100 quid, i’m still not sure but if there is one that’s worth it, it has to be this one.
Had it for nearly three years now and it is great does what a keyboard should do. One problem i have with it is that dirt and crumbles etc very easily fall in between the keys and is a real pain to get rid of, if you turn the keyboard upside down and shake it, it will get rid of any big bits but there is always a few hairs trapped in their witch you have to learn to live with in less you wanna be taking the keyboard to pieces to clean it every week.
I absolutely love this keyboard, it’s mechanical, it has lights, it has macros and other pieces of customisable features. Mechanical feels and sounds a lot better than membrane, i could never go back to a standard rubber dome membrane keyboard, they feel horrible.
I have gone through many, many keyboards in the past decade and a half. I would say probably more than 20 different ones. Each with their own gimmicks, designs and key types. This is by far my favourite keyboard to date. The cherry mx keys are an absolute dream, they feel fantastic, smooth and very, very responsive. The sound is also incredibly satisfying as well. This is my first forray into cherry mx switches, and to be perfectly honest, i wasn’t sure what that even meant. But the difference it makes to typing and gaming is noticeable. The keyboard feels smooth and typing every letter is still enjoyable. The sleek brushed aluminium surface is beautiful.
This is a simply excellent keyboard. I’ve been using it for over a year now and it’s still feels like new. I use the mx brown keys and they are a nice compromise between the typing ability of the blues and the gaming response of the reds. The backlight is a nice warm red and the brightness can be changed on the fly with a dedicated button. Plus points:* solid build quality (all metal)* easily removed/replaced wrist rest* braided cable* sleek appearance* excellent typing feelneg points:* it’s a dirt magnet. The keys are raised well above the base, so dust and all sorts of crap gets stuck in there easily. On the flip side, the keys pop off with a small pull, so you can clean it very easily. Hope you have a big desk if you plan to buy this.
I bought this keyboard for my gaming rig that i have for about a year. I had never tried a mechanical keyboard before let alone thought about purchasing one. I will however say this, i am so glad that i did. The keyboard is great to look at. It looks like a gaming keyboard, but it doesn’t have the usual additions that make gaming keyboards stick out from regular keyboards (such as as screens like logitech’s membrane keyboard), however this is something i genuinely prefer. The keyboard sports a sleek minimalist look with the keys almost hovering above the keyboard. Not only does this look very nice, it makes it incredibly easy to clean using compressed air to blow away dirt and dust. The led lights are also some of the nicest i have used, making the board really stand out in a darkened room. The top body is also made from aluminium which looks and feels great, also giving the board a very sturdy feeling when typing.
Amazing keyboard, perfect for gaming and all other pc use. The mechanical switches are so nice. The design and quality of this keyboard is amazing and i still dont have any dead leds people have mentioned may be an issue, just have to look after it and regulary remove dust. I went with the mx brown switches.
This is the first mechanical keyboard that i’ve owned and i am incredibly impressed with it. I’ve used it daily for over a year now and it’s still holding up very strong. It’s very easy to clean since the keys are all removable and there aren’t really any small places that crumbs or hair can build up in. The leds are too bright for my liking, even on the lowest setting, but i haven’t found it to really be an issue as i have them turned off anyway.
My logitech illuminated keyboard has served me well, but i decided to change to a mechanical one, and the k70 was my preference. I wasn’t interested in a true gaming board (i really couldn’t be bothered with features i’d never use and have never really seen the need). The k70 is a board of quality, and whilst there is much to like about it there are a few points worth mentioning. Obviously the keys do make more ‘noise’ than a membrane board, but not really a problem – unless you’re a bat. The usb port at the back now means that i can attach external hdds or anything else, and is a nice touch. Although you can adjust the brightness of the keys, anything other than the first setting is just too bright for my tastes, and seems somewhat unnecessary. With the key lights turned off however, the keys are virtually impossible to see in low light, so here’s hoping none ever failthe red keys (w, a, s, d, and 1 -6) might give the k70 a pleasant look, but are they really necessary?the red number keys have only numbers on them, so, if you do decide to use them for gaming you’d better be prepared to switch them back for normal usage. You can of course select which keys you’d like to be lit when gaming, but, again, not something that i feel any need to do. Undoubtedly a quality keyboard – as long as the key lights don’t fail – so 1 star off for the reasons given, but added back on because of the usb port and the fact that i do like the feel of the board.
I was a little dubious about getting this keyboard or the rgb version. I decided to go with this one as i really don’t need all the flashy colours on the board. This keyboard only supports one profile but you can illuminate any sets of keys you use for the game you need them for by holding down the profile key for a few seconds until it flashes. After that, any keys you press will stay illuminated for that profile. To save the key settings, just press and hold the profile key again for a few more seconds until it goes out. The case is made of a good, solid aluminium with a detachable wrist rest. The cable is braided and comes with two usb plugs on the end. One for usb 3 or if you want to use usb 2, you will need to plug in the second usb plug to illuminate the keyboard. To summarise, it is a very well build keyboard with a very good response to key pushes.
Just ventured into the world of pc gaming and initially bought the razer deathstalker keyboard which was highly rated. However, for the price i felt the keys were spongy and their flat texture-less shape made it feel as though my fingers were going to slip off. After sending back the razer and opting for a mechanical keyboard i was absolutely delighted with the k70. Theshapes and textured wasd keys make your fingers feel totally secure without restricting movement. The cherry red switches are so responsive and you really feel like you’ve got total control. The keyboard feels extremely high quality with it’s pleasing brushed aluminium construction, there is a good weight to it that exudes quality. If your looking for a great mechanical keyboard then look no further.
Very good keyboard; keys are highly responsive, but a bit too sensitive for my liking (will get brown switches in the future, instead of the red that this one uses) but for others they may prefer it. It looks fantastic, but it does attract dust more easily that other keyboards. Having said that, since you can remove the keys (comes with an accessory for it) makes cleaning it quite simple. Love the extra media keys and the volume control. Considering how much you have to pay i do feel you pay for quality when it comes to this keyboard.
The best keyboard i have ever owned. Pros:- incredibly solid and well built. Approved by my now 1 year old sons constant battering of them when he sits with me at my desk. – different levels of backlit brightness- audio controls are great and well positioned- compact buttons, the f keys being so close to wasd are great, i can actually use them for key-binds comfortably. – the tactile keys are great, i put mine on and have never gone back. – keys are easy to clean- very comfortablecons:- the keys are a bit loud however i expected that with it being a mechanical keyboard. – lighting cant be configured other than brightness. Would not think twice about buying again.
I like this keyboard, the feeling of the brown key switches, layout and design are faultless. However i did not realise there was just a red led version, which is the one i have bought. If i would have done a little more researching, i would of definitely gone for the rgb version and paid that little bit more money as the profiles available look out of this world, and the software for creating and downloading user created profiles looks incredible. This keyboard though is still superior to anything which i have used before, the feel, quality and design have really been catered for and well thought out. I would strongly recommend this keyboard to anybody who is willing to spend a premium price on such a peripheral, it’s a very solid piece of kit.
First mechanical keyboard ive owned (not tried) love the keyboard, the port on the keyboard is handy and it feels like a great quality keyboard. Looks pretty awesome and i do love being able to select the backlight for certain keys. Doesn’t feel like it’ll break to easily too, been dropped a couple of times and survived flawlessly. Comes with red switches, and if you like the feeling of bottoming out you’ll be happy with this as a purchase.
Keys are extremely responsive which is exactly what you look for in a mechanical keyboard. Honestly cannot go wrong with this keyboard. You may look at the price and think ‘ooh bit too high?’. But in all honesty; you’ll be using this everytime you’re at your computer. You want to use something that is comfortable. This is that and so much more.
Given that i’ve only been using it for a day, i feel very satisfied. The tactile feedback is excellent (i’ve never used mechanicals before) using the cherry red keys. It’s not too noisy (no clicks), the keystrokes are actually sent before the key pression is fully performed, which makes it good fast input situations, i guess. Overall the build quality is excellent, no complaints there, except maybe for the smoothness of the volume control on the top right corner which is a bit stiff; on my logitrech 510 it used to be smoother, but maybe it’s just because it’s brand new. It’s a small detail anyway, one gets used to it. It’s a quite heavy keyboard as the body is metal, which gives it a very solid feel. The cable is braided and very thick, i imagine it’s very hard to damage it. The backlighting is red only, but there are 4 settings increasing in brightness – the first being unlit. There’s also a button to enable backlighting only on wasd, arrows and 1-6 keys. Finally, the classic button to disable the windows key which might easily fu** up a game session when pressed accidentally.
I have been using this keyboard for weeks now and i can’t say i’m happier that i chose to go with a mechanical keyboard and even more so with a cherry mx blue setup inside of it. The sound is orgasmic to my ears (not to the people i live with at 3am when i am typing an essay) and the tactile feel of the keys leaves little room for typos and gives an all round fantastic experience. The design of the keyboard is great and it feels like it would last for years. If anyone is debating buying this product, don’t bother debating simply go ahead and buy it, it’s worth the extra money. +1 to corsair for this fantastic keyboard.
I admit i was nervous of shelling out over £100 for a keyboard, but between work and gaming i do use them for about 8-14 hours per day, so i should have a decent one. The k70 has a solid metal base and the mx brown key action is glorious. It feels so good compared to non-mechanical keys. I haven’t had a mechanical keyboard since the 90s and i realise now what i have been missing. It is really easy to program your primary lighting layout (hold the special button for 3 secs, press any keys you want illuminated so they light up, press the special button for 3 secs, done). You can toggle between all on, all off and programmed layout. There are no silly extra macro keys for me never to program, just handy volume, pause, play next, lights on/off and a windows key lock (no accidental start menu pop up in game, if you’re prone to that. It’s also sleek and minimalist – no ridiculous looking swathes of plastic or swirly surrounds to bash your mouse into when you run out of room on your desk. The only negative i can think of is that the leds on the numeric keys above the qwerty layout are lit under the ‘£$ characters, not under the numbers. But that’s a truly minor gripe. Otherwise i can’t recommend it enough. It looks and feels great and it performs as good as it looks.
For anyone whom is wondering this keyboard is actually metal not plastic, it’s just black anodised and looks really cool, the moment you lift us out of the packaging the feeling of quality is amazing, it has a good weight to it and there is literally no flex whatsoever within reason (unless you’re some kind of wrestler or something). This keyboard has one led lighting colour which is red and look super evil it also uses cherry red mx mechanical switches which have a very smooth linear low-pressure push, it has some basic media player buttons built onto the keyboard which also backlit and volume roller bar which feels good to use, it comes packaged with some alternate gaming keys which are colour-coded textured and raised above the rest of the keys, it has three stages of backlighting which are all extremely bright ( i only ever use the lowest one), it has a button which mutes the lighting to all but the keys required for gaming and even a button that disables the windows key so you don’t minimise your game while you’re playing. Be warned it also takes up 2 usb ports at the rear however this is probably because one of them is a usb passthrough since the top of the keyboard has a usb port. All in all this is an awesome keyboard, and it may not seem worth paying this much for a keyboard, but trust me it is since all of the switches are removable it is potentially future proof because it is serviceable, furthermore because all of the keys are raised up it’s very easy to clean making it more hygienic.
