perixx PX-1000 UK – Decent keyboard but do not buy for linux

The description is a little wrong for the product but in a way it works out better, the description says that there is 3 levels of brightness adjustment but that’s not true, it’s actually 3 colours, red, blue and purple/pink or you can just leave the off, overall a very nice keyboard, seems very well built and for the price i have no complaints whatsoever, would highly recommend if you’re looking for a cheap gaming style keyboard and to answer the question that i think a few of you will have, yes it is 100% uk layout :)great buy, thanks.

So lets get this out of the way. Its a 20 quid ‘gaming’ keyboard. It is a budget / cheap keyboard. Do not buy this if you expect the world. It doesn’t advertise itself at the cutting edge of gaming hardware. That being said it doesn’t feel like a 20 quid keyboard. Even when compared to my old (broken) logitech wave. One major thing i love about this keyboard, i am a shift worker so i am often sleeping at different times than my partner. The keys are almost silent (no typical loud clunk or click with cheap keyboard) except the space bar which makes a ‘normal’ amount of noise. So not only can i see all the function keys in the dark i don’t annoy my partner with the noise of playing minecraft or my fave mmo.

Maybe one of the membrane keyboard i really like, simple yet so nice to use as i have been using this since 25 may 2014pros:its slick, the piano layout makes typing on it feel greatthe backlit isn’t too bright, this is great for someone to works in the dark. There is a con to this aswell, look belowthree type of color for you colorful people ‘don’t worry, i’m one of them’ pink, blue and of course reddoesn’t much too much noises. Feels nice to usecons:logo doesn’t glow but it isn’t a problem for me however this is misleading and i don’t support that. Of course as it isn’t too bright this will be an problem for people who are using it on a bright sunny day, when they stare at their keyboards and realices they can’t see the keys so well. Basicly, i love this keyboard due to how it isn’t flashy but it looks slick and simple which i really like.

It doesn’t go green for some reason, but he loves it so doesn’t matter.

Still using this keyboard after 2-3 years maybe more and it still works great.

The keyboard is nice but maybe a bit to expensive for what you get the keys you cant see through depending on angle of you to the keyboard but then i dont need to be able to see the exact letters just to be able to see in the dark where the letters are rather than having a side light on, its edges seen the be rough so maybe dont keep it near children etc, it could do with more lights under the space bar etc but other than that its a nice piece of kit, but i did have problems with delivery from yodel it arrived over a week late.

  • Just what the doctor ordered

  • Got its flaws but I like it

  • A Good Entry-Level Gaming Keyboard for the Price

This keyboard looks great beside its matching mouse (mx-1000). The keys are obviously not chiclet style but i prefer that, and the lights are adjustable so you can reduce them if you find them distracting. Only issue i had was with the 40/60/80s buttons along the top. I assume they are to do with key repeat sensitivities but if you use anything higher than the 40 and you play games it will cause repetition of actions. So instead of just walking forward like normal your character shudders forwards as if you were repeatedly pressing ‘w’ instead of holding it. In short, a great keyboard but maybe needs a thicker manual.

Pros;its plug and play no stupid driversvery nice layoutsoft keys no real key stroke soundlights have 4 options, off / low / med /highsolid build plus lightcons:if you lean back like me the lights on the keys look weirdneeds a palm rest really. Logo does not light up like in the picturecable is a nice length but could be longer.

Brought this a long time ago, getting dirty now.

My eldest had spent about £80 on a razer gaming keyboard, but after 6 months or so the letters wore off. The kids tell me this is 95% as good and a lot cheaper.

Can give these keys a good battering as you play. I really like the keyboard and to be honest bought this as a temperary until i could afford a new logitech (as mine died) but not sure i want to see this gonegatives: the characters are little hard to see with the backlights off in a dim lit room (but why would you?)you don’t get the full back lighting unless you are look straight down on the keyboard, which as a laidback gamer is a bit annoying but you can still see them ok. There are lots of feature i have discovered completely by accident that are not mentioned anywhere (e. Fn + w swaps wasd with up-down-left-right for the lefties of the world)a few keys are bit unresponsive. Not as bad as some people have reported but my num0 needs a good firm press along with the numenter key. Despite all of that i like it.Its got character, a nice feel to play and even type on.

It’s a decent enough keyboard for the price, but as far as i can tell there is no way to set default illumination options. It will always be glowing blue when you turn it on, and it’s rather annoying to have to cycle to red option every time (which is my prefered to choice to match my mouse light).

For the price, it’s definitely worth it. The review by ‘mr lavery’ sums up what i think of the keyboard, spot on.

Mine came bent in the middle. There was a stress mark on the plastic underneath. The keys were arcing outwards because of that. The leds appear nice only when viewed from above.

Large spaces between keys collect dust, lint and whatever else may fall in there. Come with a giant, tacky logo at the top of the keyboard that, contrary to the picture, does not light up. One year of use and it still works fairly well although about 6 months ago the usb connector started messing up, sometimes it will disconnect itself and you will have to replug it in. It is what it is for the money i suppose.

Been using about 3 months now, no problems at all, the buttons were my greatest concern during buying, and the springs don’t have a problem at all. The only small donwside is that i wish the angle of the surface of the keyboard would be smaller, it strains my wrist sometimes, but otherwise, no technical, software or practical problems. Would recommend you to buy, value for money.

It is a decent keyboard for the amount i paid (it was on offer). I do not give it 5 stars because it came with 2 k instead the # key. Apart from that i have no complaints.

Illuminated Feature with Backlit Keys

Had this keyboard for just over 3 years and is still going strong, i alternate between perrix and roccat boards, but for the price comparison and the quality feel of this keyboard i cannot fault it. Simple key removal for cleaning and maintenance, this thing has had all sorts spilt on it and is still going strong now. It does have a slightly plasticy feel to it, however if you like the glossy black & red design then this is totally the keyboard for you.

Bought this, with a mouse, for my grandson.

Very nice product, very good to have a keyboard with a backlight, perfect if your gaming in the dark. There’s only a slight problem, the keyboard seems to rock a bit probably due to one of the rubber pads under the keyboard but not a big problem.

Starting of on a good note:pros:* illuminated keys, red, blue or purple to choose from. * plastics stands at the back to raise it up from table-level* key-caps feel nice & smooth* keys feel nice to press* functions on the f1-f12 keys for media controls and gaming controls including a windows button disabler used in conjunction with the ‘fn’ key typically found on laptops that replaces the right-windows key that no-one uses. Cons:* enter key and especially the backspace key are a little unresponsive for light-typers like me but not a problem for heavy typers – problem shouldn’t exist but you can get used to it* led backlighting can only be truly appreciated in all it’s full-brightness glory from directly above, though looking at the pretty lights isn’t what you should be doing while gaming ;)* quite easy to slide around* lighting preference defaults back to blue when you reboot your pcoverall ‘a good entry-level gaming keyboard for the price’, that’s perfect for beginners or people who just don’t want to pay upwards of £100 for a mechanical gaming keyboard.

Was after a budget keyboard as i explore for one i want as i’m torn between normal keyboards and mechanical at the moment. I will verify what other people have said: the actual lighting isn’t that great. If you’re sitting down it won’t shine fully unless looked at directly above, but honestly this isn’t a problem. The other lighting options are quite dim and i don’t understand the purpose of them. It works well, gave it a test run earlier today and as someone who types quite fast and relies on a stable keyboard, this fits the bill. I would preferred it if the lighting was brighter but overall, was worth it.

Not exactly what i would class as a ‘gaming keyboard’. It’s very basic with back-lit keys which is the one reason i bought it.

Full Size Layout with USB Interface

I bought this with my bursary money from college and i thought i should treat myself and bought this on a whim. I then read very mixed reviews on it after buying it and was soon regretting buying it. But then it arrived (came right on time which i liked) i was really happy with it. The packaging was excellent and didn’t notice and dents in the packaging and box. It feels well built and the keys feel great, and they are indeed quiet. The backlights are actually surprisingly quite good. There are 3 settings: blue, red, and purple-ish, there is no dim or dimmer option (as far as i know because there was no instruction booklet, but that’s okay) and all these problems of only seeing the lights from directly on top?. I didn’t get that problem, so i’m really happy with it. 99 version as i didn’t want to spend too much in case it was a lemon.

The ‘5’ key does not work too well [nothing spilt on it and the keys are hard to see in the day because the lights don’t work too well unless it is dark. Otherwise it is a decent keyboard. ]

It’s a bit bulky with lots of strange angles. Not good enough to recommend, nor bad enough to return.

There are a couple problems with this keyboard, the larger keys such as enter, numeric 0, and shift don’t make a very good contact so you have to push down harder than normal to get a reaction from it. Also the shortcut to open your media player can’t be changed from wmp, which is annoying for itunes users. Three stars for an okay product for an okay price. No problems with delivery, arrived on time.

I have to rest mine on a support to tilt it higher than built in feet allow. I won’t go for red lit keys again.

For the price i pay i think i got a great product, the keys might look simple but when using it for office use of gaming they are great, the plastic feels like it has a laminated layer on top and the smooth feeling really relaxes your fingers. It is a basic keyboard that is better than many others i have bought before.

Well, i received this today in its nice box and realised that it’s fantastic value for money even at its normal retail price. It has decent backlit keys and feels absolutely fantastic. Quality and noise is very good. The keys are very quiet and certainly wouldn’t wake up the neighbors. Its keys feel fantastic, it’s easy to type quickly and you can see it at night. You can choose from three colours. Blue, red or purple or no backlight at all. It comes with a nice long usb cable and reaches from the back of my pc on my large desk. Bad things about this keyboard?.

Windows & Desktop Lock Keys

I was looking for a backlit keyboard because my pc is in a cupboard and when i am playing games i have the light off, but when using mouse and keys you have to press a lot of different keys (change weapons etc) and i was always pressing the wrong ones. So i looked at a lot of keyboards on amazon and most were too expensive so i thought i would be a tight git and buy the perixx. Much to my surprise it was the a great keyboard and at a great price. I have seen other peoples backlit keyboards and some where twice the price and no where near as good as it is only the space in between the keys and not actually the letters themselves that light up. So 5 stars and who cares about macro keys as i never use them.

I purchased this keyboard at 6pm and it was at my house the following day, the qualitiy of the keyboard for the price is excellent as well as it being full size. Negatives-when looking at the keys on an angle the whole letter isnt illuminated. -logo on the top of keyboard doesnt glow like indicated on photoother than that there are no problems with this keyboard bargain for just £19.

Nice keyboard that has nice tactile feedback and feels good to the touch. However, it is quite loud which people may find issue with. After a while of being used, some of the letters have slightly worn off but as i can touch-type it isn’t the biggest of issues. The fact that the keys are backlit is more of a gimmick for me as i rarely ever actually look at the keys, and especially if you are a gamer, you will be looking at the screen rather than the keyboard, so do not let the backlit keys be the deciding factor. All in all, though, a good keyboard.

Had this keyboard for the past 6 years, had no issues until now (apart from the loudness of the keys). On transition from windows 7 to linux it seems to have stop working and all the fixes i’ve tried online do not work.
