Razer Widow Essential Clicky Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and Fully Programmable – tap tapping away

Its great, its really loud which i love, if you don’t care about the lights as you’re more concerned with gaming, get this rather then the chroma,.

Mainly use for gaming and general typing, clickyclickyclickyclicky :).

Another good quality razer product. Love the keys, though i wish i had bought the ones with the lights on since it was the same price when i purchased this.

Had the keyboard for a couple of months and it still works perfectly fine. Would definitely recommend it.

A great keyboard for gaming and work. Very satisfying and tactile key depression. Overall build quality is excellent.

Green switch is great, like blue switch and better for game. But the price is a little expensive.

  • Best Keyboard I have ever used!
  • It’s great value if you’re looking for something economical, but definitely has it’s quirks.
  • Blackwidow vs Deathstalker.

I have always used a gaming/mechanical keyboard and have recently upgraded from a madcatz led back-lit keyboard to the razer blackwidow clicky mechanical keyboard (without chroma back-lighting). I can easily say that this is the best keyboard i have ever used. The key presses are very nice and are excellent for gaming. It doesn’t take a lot of pressure to press down the buttons and you can enjoy the noise it makes while doing so (it sounds a bit like a typewriter). You can really feel the quality in this keyboard, i would have prefered to not have the matte black plastic for the base of the keyboard because of fingerprint smudges but its a small price to pay for this fantastic keyboard. I would highly recommend this to anyone even if you are not a gamer, the quality and precision of this keyboard are hard to beat. It also has sockets for headphones, microphone and a usb slot in the side of the keyboard reducing the amount of wires going to your tower. I use these myself for a headset but you can also use if for a mouse or even just some headphonesthe razer synapse software allows you to edit and change various button keybindings and allows for easy configuration of not only your keyboards but also any other razer products you own.

Amazing keyboard, keys are great and i love the clicky noise, as for price, they were on offer by amazon for 75 pound brand new which was great, after ordering i assumed the parcel would arrive on the week after as i got free delivery, to my surprise, it came the next day at 1pm so great service.

Makes alot of noise but beautiful to type paragraphs/code.

Arrived when it was meant too.

I love this keyboard, in fact, i’m using it to write this review. Overall this is an amazing keyboard, it’s satisfying, but it is very loud, my family hate this when i’m using it but love it when they are. All i wish for on this keyboard is for more than just the razer logo to be lit up, then this would be a five star product for me. After using this keyboard for a while i’m starting to despise my old aula membrane/rubber dome keyboard and feeling like a peasant when using anything that isn’t mechanical. Overall though i love this keyboard and it is %100 worth the money.

From the manufacturer

Razer BlackWidow

Built with the Razer mechanical switches, the Razer BlackWidow will help you take your game to the next level with more speed and precision. By redefining the limits of performance, this elite gaming keyboard lets you leave the competition in the dust, even faster than before.

World’s First Mechanical Switch Designed For Gaming

The Razer BlackWidow features the Razer mechanical switches that have been designed from the ground up with the aim of elevating the speed and responsiveness of the Razer BlackWidow gaming keyboard beyond the capabilities of other mechanical switches. Tested and validated by the eSports athletes, we have identified the optimal actuation distance and reduced the tolerance for faster commands and greater precision when compared to standard mechanical switches. Made to also withstand rigorous physical demands, you can enjoy greater performance and durability.

The Benchmark in The World Of Competitive Gaming

The Razer mechanical switch is designed to actuate at an optimal distance of 1.9 mm into the keystroke and reset itself to fire again at less than half the distance of standard mechanical switchesusp. This allows for blazing fast actuations without having the need to bottom down into the keystroke each time.

Razer Mechanical Switches

Designed specifically for gaming, the Razer mechanical switches actuate at an optimal distance, giving you speed and responsiveness like never before.

Iconic Razer Design

The Razer BlackWidow was first launched in 2010. Equipped with the Razer mechanical switches, it continues to raise the bar for mechanical gaming keyboards all over the world.

Greater Durability

No matter how intense your gaming marathons get, each Razer mechanical switch is engineered to withstand up to 60 million keystrokes, so you’ll enjoy the Razer advantage for longer.

Pro Gamer Validated

‘Having used the BlackWidow as my default keyboard for all these years, and watching it evolve is truly amazing. Razer takes what is already the best and makes it even better. The new switches feel great and give me total control of each keystroke. This is unlike anything that I have experienced before. ” Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng Counter Logic Gaming | League of Legends

10 Key Rollover

Never miss a single key, or ten for that matter. With built-in anti-ghosting technology, the Razer BlackWidow lets you execute up to ten commands at the same time, each time.

Razer Synapse Enabled

Razer Synapse is a cutting-edge, intuitive software that functions as the Razer BlackWidow’s brain, automatically syncing the gaming keyboard to a cloud server to download driver and firmware updates and also saving your individual settings. Sync your custom settings and macros automatically with this unified configurator, allowing customisation of all your Razer products with a single login.

After using an old keyboard for god knows how long, i finally decided to take the leap and make a purchase. I loved the look of the chroma versions of the blackwidow, but £125 just isn’t quite worth it. This, however, is the real deal for the price. This keyboard now has me sold on mechanical over membrane keyboards, and i believe i could never go back.

Very good keyboard, types well and the green mx keys have a nice feel to them. Keys sometimes double type, not sure why, i always keep my keyboard clean and dust free. Ill put this to the test when i get a replacement. Although i wish the keyboard came with a key-puller, as a side note.

Son rates this keyboard very highly.

Great price for getting a good quality mechanical keyboard. Yes, it does make a difference gaming. And yes it’s so ‘clicky’ ‘clacky’ loud that you will be the bane of your household existence. It is very noisy, so know what you are getting into. There are alternatives that cost more but have less noise. You can also buy o-rings to dampen the noise a little. I actually have some, but i’ve not put them on; not sure if i will.

Best keyboard i’ve ever used, sticking with the blackwidow’s indefinitely.

I boughht this keyboard for my software ddeveloper job. After less than 4 years, some keys are dddouble typing. I tried to cleann them, removinng the key caps, pressing the cherry and blowing air, but no luck. I was expectinnggg a more robust hardware.

Ive been using this now for a while. A nice weight to it, and it doesnt slide on the deskit has very clicky keys so be warnedbut in the same instance they are very easy to type on.

Several keys produce duplicate keystrokes when pressed only once. Not great when you pay this much money for a keyboard – expect better.

Its my first mechanical keyboard so cant compare it to others but it took me a while to get used to this keyboard but now i love it. Going back to my work and using the bog standard dell keyboard is awful. I find it odd that since i’ve had it, theres been 2 updates for a keyboard already. Suppose everything updates nowadays but i definately recommend this keyboard. Solid construction, feels well built.

Works perfectly , comfortable and precise.

Really good keyboard, price is quite hefty but is good considering the product. Quite loud with each keystroke but if you have headphones this is not a problem, very nice to use and overall a 10/10 keyboard. But before you purchase consider the situations you would use it in and how often you would use it, as it is very loud and expensive.

I needed a new keyboard and after reading various reviews online and knowing of razer’s reputable build quality, i thought i should buy the blackwidow 2014. It is very very well made and is made of very sturdy plastic that feels like it was made with the customer in mind and not how much money they can save by making it out of a cheap material. The clicking sound of the mechanical keys are a little louder than i would’ve liked yet they do feel very good when playing games such as cs:go and equally as good for typing as they are very responsive and have a nice feel to them.

High durability –

. But actuation is firm, and entire thing feels solid. Heavy too, which helps it not slip around the desk.

Bought for my boyfriends gaming pc. Great quality and he says ‘what’s not to love?’.

Nice keyboard, cant say much more. Would have probably preferred a corsair but they are more expensive.

Love my keyboard, just what i wanted.

Packaged well and works perfectly.

Purchasing a keyboard for this much was a little bit of a hurdle for me as my previous model cost around £10. However, having recieved the product i have absolutely no complaints. The keyboard has an expensive and solid feel to it, and has a lovely sound when typed on. So far there are no complaints, and the usb power port is a useful addition to the device.

The keyboard arrived on time and in excellent condition and have been using it for a while now and is very responsive and easy to get use to which is handy for i am quit the heavy gamer and it is good to upgrade to a such a responsive keyboard.

Fully programmable keys plus five additional gaming keys with on-the-fly macro recording

This is an amazing keyboard. It gives you a satisfaction with its clicky noise and it feels different to most of the keyboards. I prefer to have a mechanical keyboard because of the different feel you get from it, but most people don’t enjoy it because of how load it is.

I have owned both the blackwidow (non-backlight and numpad) and the deathstalker chroma so what i’m about to say is based on my own experience with both. In my opinion the blackwidow is a better keyboard in almost all aspects. The deathstalker is one of worst keyboards i have ever owned, which is odd considering it is much more expensive then this one. The plastics were terrible and the keyboard even bent in the middle. They felt spongy and the key themselves felt plasticy and awful. The chroma lighting is waaaaaaaaay overpriced for what it actually is in the keyboard and overall i dont think razer could of made that keyboard worse even if they tried. My faith in razer really died when i got that keyboard. This keyboard however (blackwidow) really restored my faith in razer as a company.

While i have only ever had three keyboards and they were all cheap ones this is still a very good keyboard. I like the feel although it takes a while to get used to as i keep accidentally hitting the macro keys instead of shift and the other keys in the row but one of the really good things about the keyboard is that the software allows you to change all the uses of all the keys so at the moment i have m4 (the macro key next to shift) doing the same thing as shift so if i press either then it is still fine. It is quite loud but i quite like it even though it is driving my brother crazy. The ports on the side are quite useful and it feels very durable so overall, a very nice keyboard. I would listen to the other reviews as i feel that i have been rambling a bit and might not really have said everything to show how much i like this keyboard.

The design is simple and sleek without 1000’s of needless led lights. Mechanical, programmable keys, and simple is rare to find together.

Bought on the monday of black friday week and it came on the thursday as described. This being my first mechanical keyboard it felt like nothing else i’ve used for typing at length. Of course i did try this keyboard before buying (something i recommend) and it felt amazing. Led’s don’t really matter to me and all the razer keyboards are the same except this one which doesn’t have lights on it (i don’t care). Sounds amazing – i would compare them to cherry mx blue switches, feels great to type on (using it to write this) and although it may sound rediculous – i type faster with this keyboard than a membrane keyboard. Done some gaming with it: very easy to press (small actuation force) which makes a huge difference. It’s quite a long keyboard so keep that in mind if you don’t have much space. Something to note: fingerprints on the surrounding plastic are likely.

One of the best feeling, looking and sounding keyboards i have ever bought.

USB, 3.5 mm headphone and microphone ports allow for easy cable routing

I have the mechanical classic keyboard, which i’ve owned for about a year now. To sum it up quickly: it has great value, has a nice, responsive click to them, and is an overall great keyboard. However, being this cheap for a mechanical keyboard does have its drawbacks:1) for me, the big one is the fact that it’s loud. To the point where people next room over can hear me clicking away even while typing casually. Wearing a headset dampens it a bit (emphasis on a bit), but if you’re planning to spend long periods of time typing quietly in your room, this will probably annoy you. I’ve also tried buying rubber rings to try and dampen it down as well (the equivalent of the razer enhancement kit) but that essentially does nothing. (i highly recommend you don’t buy this, i brought the cheaper equivalent on bangood for about a fiver, while the actual enhancement kit is about £18, and it’s just money wasted)2) also, everything is made of plastic, compared to the higher-end keyboards made of brushed aluminium. This means it has quite a cheap feeling and maybe could’ve caused the louder clicks, the keycaps are roughly moulded around the sides which makes cleaning a pain. (i’m not an expert, but i’d rather have aluminium keys the plastic ones, as they’d probably wouldn’t wear down as quickly).
