Canon 7568B005 EF-M 11-22 mm f/4-5 – Good but expensive

Prior to purchasing this lens for my extreme wide angle i used a canon 17-40 f4l on a 5d mkiii this lens is just as sharp and in the corners quite a bit sharper. There is a small amount of distortion at the 11mm end but not enough to worry about and if required easily corrected with software. A high quality lens at a good price.
So glad i no longer need an adaptor to fit a wide angle to my camera. With this lens on my camera it still fits nicely into my hip bag making it much more likely i’ll actually take it out with me for the day. It has hardly been off my camera since i got it. Very happy to use this on hikes.
Punches up there with the expensive canon 10-22mm lens. A fantastic wide angle lens which has transformed my landscape photography. The portability with the eos m system means i can take it everywhere, without sacrificing image quality. It’s a no brainier if you’re looking for a sharp wide angle lens.
Great lens for the money for any m system user.
Superb lens, very small, very sharp, good image stabilisation. A minor gripe would be you have to ‘unlock’ it from it’s closed (smallest) position to use it but you soon get used to that, plus it’s a little slow at the long end. It’s good enough that i bought a second m body to keep attached to this lens.
Very flexible , close up work made easy. The whole eos m system fabulous results for much less than nikon. This is an ex nikon 1 v1 & ‘2 user’s opinion.
- Five Stars
- Stunning lens

Great lens, very sharp to the edge, a little distortion but nothing to worry about. Buy it you will not be disappointed.
Fabulous lens – takes beautifully sharp images.
Good lens for portraits especially indoors or at night. Not suitable for landscape photography, or shooting more than 1 subject at a time. The lens will only focus on one spot, and will not even focus on two people next to each other. Most group photos will be blurry and out of focus. So it is a very specialised lens for very limited use – but its very good at it.
Way better than carrying a heavy dslr and wide angle.
Did my research before buying this, i have a canon 10-18mm wide angle lens for my 50d but wanted something more portable for my holiday. Fantastic lens that produces pin sharp images & very little vignetting at the corners when set to 11mm. It is far superior to my 10-18mm lens & i cannot recommend this lens enough. Buy it, you won’t be disappointed.

On a whim, i decided to buy this and the canon eos-m camera, as i was slightly tired of lugging my dslr gear with its various lenses. I am very pleased with the result. The firmware update of the focusing system in the camera made it useable, but this lens transformed it. I was carrying both my dslr 600d with several lenses including the wide angle 10-22 mm on a recent holiday, but i ended up using this lens on the eos-m most of the time for my landscape shots. It is also superb value for money, as the camera and the lens cost about £700, similar to the cost of a wide angle lens alone. The photos are at least as good as those taken with the canon 10-22 mm or perhaps slightly better.
Good lens and if you really do want the ultra portability of the eos-m format a good addition to the basic 18-55 kit lens. Seems in practice almost as good optically as the more expensive (and far bigger/heavier) 10-22 ef-s mated with the (ridiculously expensive) eos-m to ef adaptor. However, the latching mechanism is a bit awkward – at least at first. Real gripe is price – canon are stuffing people over the eos-m format.Notice how you can’t buy a separate spare body, and can only buy various selected kit combinations (which are admittedly cheap compared the the apparent price of the separate pieces). Then there is the shadow release of the mk 2 (not available in europe) and the rumours of the mk 3 – which no doubt will be released at a premium price (n. The basic eos-m kit has fallen from £400 to £300 on amazon over less than a year – the ef-m 11-22 dipped first but is now £10 higher than when i bought in november). They could have quite a winner here for weight/size conscious travellers/trekkers like me especially if they could produce a decent telephoto ef-m lens. Or they could lose us to a competitor.
A fantastic little lens for my ‘bargain of the century’ canon eos mas other reviewers have already stated, a razor sharp lens, giving beautiful quality pictures. Excellently manufactured and includes image stabilisation, thoroughly recommended. Purchased from amazon at a short lived bargain sale price.
A lovely compact lens – should be great for landscape photos.
After recently investing in the eos m system for a relatively small amount of money, i was torn whether to spend a relatively large sum of money compared to the rest of the system on this lens. I eventually decided i had to have a wide angle lens for my eos m and took a while to decide between this specific m mount lens or the new canon ef-s 10-18mm f/4. 6 is stm lens with ef-m to ef or ef-s adaptor which i already owned. The ef-s 10-18mm is slightly cheaper, wider but not as long and slighter slower wide open. For me what finally swung it was that i would have no other use for the ef-s lens as my main camera is full frame so can only be use ef lens and did i really want to be faffing around with an adaptor all the time, which is now permanently fixed to my canon ef-s 55-250mm f/4-5. 6 is ii lens (which is an amazing lens for the money by the way). Also with the m being 22mm at the long end i thought it would make a more versatile lens. Finally the ef-s 10-18mm is of all plastic construction with plastic mount and this ef-m 11-22mm is of metal construction with a metal mount. I was not disappointed, this lens is sharp, very sharp and in real terms very good value for money compared to my canon 17-40l, which i think it is as good as.
After purchasing the eos m for travelling with, i bought the adaptor so i could use my lenses that i have for my canon eos 60d, but after a while, i thought it’s defeating the object of having a small camera for travelling light. I was using my eos m with my tokina 11-16mm wide angle lens, which is a very big lens. I am off to rome and love wide angle shots, so decided to purchase this lens. I have to say, i am very impressed with it so far, although not had chance to thoroughly test it as yet. I’ve done a few test shots with both my 60d and tokina and my eos m with this lens fitted, and have to say, the picture quality on this lens is just as good as my tokina. The only thing with the lens is a bit of vignetting, which is easily sorted in lightroom or camera raw etc. The size of this lens makes it perfect for travelling around with, very well built as all eos m lenses, i can’t complain about this lens one bit, just looking forward to thoroughly testing it.
