SteelSeries Rival 300 – It’s alright, the rival 100 has a nicer shape

Rival 300, great mouse and upgrade from my intelli 3. 0the complaints about this being slightly too large for hands is true, but this is only a problem when you try and reach one of the side buttons as you have to adjust your hands. Smooth mouse, perfect for price and gaming.
After many gaming mice i’ve finally found one that works and does what i need. I’ve had 2 razor imperators ( both broke after 1 yr ) , 1 aviva krypton ( which was sent back ) and now this item. I feel hopeful regarding this – it’s well made – feels great in your hands weather you’ve got big or small hands. Roller button works smoothly and isn’t too noisy, mouse clicks feel great and don’t annoy you like some. Thumb buttons in perfect position no movement required when thumb in resting position. The custom colours are great which was an added bonus i honestly thought i’d have to tolerate orange, but mines is on a nice cool blue. You can have the roller button 1 colour and the steel series logo another so very good. The cpi is not controlled on the mouse, it’s controlled in the steel series engine which is much better than other gaming mice as it was easy to hit accidental whilst gaming. For those that don’t know dpi & cpi are the same ( data per inch and counts per inch ) i researched this as was unclear.
Bought this for my fiancé as i had just upgraded to a deathadder and realised how much difference a high quality mouse makes to gaming. It’s so comfy i am trying to swap my deathadder for this but she won’t have none of it. So that means it has pretty much the minimum amount of buttons on it to be a viable mouse. It is pretty large being a bit larger than my deathadder although it doesn’t take away from the comfort. She has very small hands even for a woman and she still says it’s extremely comfortable i recommend this over the deathadder.
Excellent, prone to wear because of the soft touch surface.
I have had this mouse for just over a year, it’s a fantastic mouse the only issue with this mouse for me is that 1 of the thumb buttons is now defective (i game a lot and use the thumb buttons all the time which has worn the clicker down) which is why i gave 4 out of 5 stars.
Best professional gaming mouse for people with medium to large hands adn you can grip it with every style :d.
- Get it
- Perfect all round mouse
- Great mouse

Steelseries quality cant go wrong, great mouse shape, the mouse is built with sub par materials to other brands, but excels in the key areas like nice scroll wheal and amazing reliable sensor/shape and with rgb lights, for this price u wont get anything better.
Leds work perfectly with decent software. It works well for me as i have large hands but those with smaller hands may find it a bit difficult to grip. Better than the razer deathadder imo.
The scroll feels worse on this mouse. Clicks are quite loud, but it’s ok. Comparing to razer deathadder 3g. Like the feel of the mouse in hand. It’s a bit longer than above which is good for palm grip.
So as of the time of this review i have had this mouse for around 2 months, using it everyday for a few hoursi upgraded to this mouse from razer abyssus which i have had for 4 years, as i have various steelseries products i trust the brand so decided to go for one of their mice, first thing that occured to me when i unboxed this mouse was the size – it was ideal for my hand and very, very comfortable as well as great looking. (may be slightly big for some people). What i love about this mouse is the shape and design of this mouse will allow you to game for long periods comfortably and reduce the risk of rsi. Another big thing i like is the button in the middle of the mouse at the top, which is used to toggle dpi that you set in the steelseries engine, it does not get in the way while gaming and changing dpi can be useful when switching games. The performance of this mouse is unmatched to any i have used before, precision is dead-on accurate and i have not experienced any problems with it. The customisation part is also very intriguing, allowing you to choose any colour combination for the mouse wheel and logo, and not to mention create profiles with various dpi’s for different games. The mouse still looks just like out of the box, the rubber is not worn at all and i am not experiencing any problems with this mouse. Compared to my previous mice such as the razer abyssus this is a big upgrade, and i feel like this mouse will last a long time. My only problem with this mouse would be that the cable is not braided, therefore the cable may not last as long. Regardless of this, after 2 months of usage the cable is perfectly fine therefore this does not affect my 5 star rating.
Great mouse, albeit a bit large. The thumb button placement is a little too far forward and one of them is longer than the other. It ought to be either reversed or kept at same length. Also, it is arching a bit too high, but not by much. Otherwise, i’ve no issue with it that i couldn’t solve through the downloadable app or mouse settings.

Feels great and as well made as any other steelseries i’ve had. My last one lasted for 3 years and is still going, i just fancied an upgrade. I’m optimistic about this one lasting as long.
If youre buying this mouse, you can change the rgb colour in the settings for good – no need to let the ss engine open all the time. -sad me who bought same color keycapsthe shape is great. Perfect for people with large hands. I bought this after watching rocket jump ninjasensor and all is great. Used to have a g402 and this mouse just overall feels more comfortable. After over a month, cable is still curvy which is super annoying. It is one of those mouses where you question whether its worth it for its price. Especially that it will be overpriced on amazon due to no longer being manufactured. Ive used it for a while, and will not consider buying another mouse until this one breaks.
Get the best out of it with a mouse mat. Great built quality and feeling.
Using it now, fast responsive mouse just like the microsoft intellimouse i owned previously, buy this it works and fits nicely in your hand.
When my ec1 zowie finally died after about 7 years i was heartbroken but i am happy to say that this steel series rival 300 has brightened my days as a decent replacement gaming mouse, great quality for money and syncs with the steel series software fantastically for attractive led light customization.
I think gaming mice should be used by working professionals. The fact that you can assign any function to your side button opens up so many possibilities with programs like autocad, adobe, and music softwares. This one in particular feels very comfortable and, just like any other similar product, you can customize the bindings, dpi and lights. Overall, the build quality is great and the click feedback is good. The paint does not wear off and the mouse looks quite discrete (unline some spaceship looking razers).
Zero Hardware Acceleration –

Its a really nice looking mouse, with a great ergonomic design for right handed users. The illuminated lights on the scroll wheel and steel series logo are really bright and vibrant, with a host of colors to choose from. The software (which you have to download online, as you do not get an installation disk with the product) has a range of features from making multiple profiles to changing the mouse acceleration. However, i wasn’t completely satisfied with this mouse, the grip pad on the left side of the mouse, where you would rest your thumb, were not to my liking and felt a little cheap to be honest. The sensor was another problem for me, while it does a great job usually, for csgo (which is what i mostly play, and is why i bought this mouse) was not as great as my previous mouse (deathadder 2013). It would lose tracking when moving the mouse fast across the mat. I still highly recommend to anyone who is getting it for casual gaming, as for a professional mouse?. I would look more into the zowie range of mice.
Solid, heavy-ish, for big hands – perfect. Good grip area on the sides. Buttons comfortably located and not flimsy.
Have been using these for 5 years now.
Comfortable mouse with great software features.
Quite simply the best shaped mouse for bigger hands. Previous deathadder owner for 8+ years.
Great precision mouse, fits perfectly into my palm. This was a replacement for me for my razer deathadder and i would describe this as a huge improvement. It’s also a bit heavies than deathadder which works for me.
Six programmable buttons (including CPI)

I bought this mouse as the closest i could find to the old microsoft intellimouse explorer 3. 0 in terms of size and shape. I have been very happy with it. The ability to adjust the sensitivity at the touch of a button is extremely useful also. In summary, great size and shape of mouse.
Note: i have been through 4 steelseries mice, i am a moba player ( league, dota) with the constant right clicking required, the piece of plastic that touches the actual clicker will wear out over time and form a smoth inward c shape making it impossible to clickkeep that in mind before you buy onegot this as an ‘upgrade’ from my rival 100it might be a better/ higher quality mouse but i prefer the rival 100, this mouse is too big for small – med handsif possible, test a rival 100 and 300 before you buy one.
Easy to adjust dpi and colours and comes with 2 profiles that you can switch between with a button press. The macro buttons are in a good place too and don’t feel strenuous to reach for nor are they in the way. The sides of the mouse come with grips to make it easier to use. The only con is that it doesn’t work quite as well without a mouse mat.
Great mouse ‘ smooth and responsive.
+ pc gamer 15 years, owned a dozen gaming mice in my time, this is best one yet. +great software- old sensai mouse had nice braided cable, but the scroll wheel sucked donkeys ass- whats the point of logo changing color to indicate stuff in games, when my fuking handcovers the logo and i’m looking at the screen anyway?- cheaper rival might just be as good, but dont have one so dont know.
I have used this for a few hours but cannot get used to its shape. Although i got big hands, the mouse just does not fit comfortably on a palm grip. Also, the side button close to the front of the mouse it’s very hard to press without shifting your hand which gets very uncomfortable during long sessions. I will definitely return this not because of the build quality but because my hand does not agree with it.
Good build quality, good sensor.
Configurable resolution up to 6,500 CPI

My brother loves it, it’s bigger than regular mouses, good for big palm.
I use this mouse for a lot of fps games and it does wonders the sensor on it is spectacular definitely reccomend.
Fits the hand well very simple design unlike most mice these days and full rgb lightening.
Silent mouse, comfortable to hold, the dpi is perfect for precision gaming and for use in programs like photoshop where that 1 pixel matters.
Just bought a new gaming pc and after looking around for a mouse and not wanting to spend £70 plus on a razer i settled on this. Really nice mouse this and fits great in the hand. Software allows you to set different profiles with different dpi so you can choose your best settings depending on the style of game.
Replacement for my logitech g302 daedalus prime after 1. 5 years of use (side buttons were not registering properly). Good:precise sensorcomfortable ergonomic gripcustomisable rgb lightingdecent software for customising mousesolid mouse 4 and 5 buttonssome things that could be improved on:scroll wheel feels a quite loose like it could come off when i scrollthe glossy paint sticks to your hand if you have even slightly sweaty handsother points:since this is a white finish, the rgb lights look good with only some coloursthe gimmicky ‘gamesense’ feature doesn’t seem to be detecting games like cs go or dota 2.
30 million click switches

I was once a hardware/software reviewer and have been through so many different mice/mouses. The steelseries rival is by far the best mouse i have ever had the privilege of using. It lasts for the most intense of games and will last for a really long time including competitive esports games.
