Neewer 85mm f/1 – Not pro lens but not a toy either
Certainly not premium lens but they got pretty good glass on them and the build quality feels solid, these have a nice weight to them too, reminds me of the old school lens my dad had around the house all in all they work well and will save you quite a bit of money.
Ideal for beginners in photography to learn focusing and aperture setting with it being full manual. Apart from that is not too bad and a average lens at a low price.
I got these for my nikon d600 and so far they have been doing a great job. I am surprised the lens quality is so very good, at this price i was not expecting such great quality. I use these with manual focus and they feel very smooth and are an absolute pleasure to use.
I bought this lens to capture some of the natural beauty and bird life in the area i live in. I am no expert on lenses, but wanted something that delivered some nice crisp images. As this was appropriate for natural images, i took a stab at it and so pleased i did given the outstanding quality of the pictures.
Very solid lens for the price, i got these for my nikon d5300 and so far it’s a good purchase, the lens and build quality is surprisingly decent.

Although it is a fraction of the price of most name brand lens, these little lens do what they are supposed to and preform quite well. They are certainly not as well finished as lens costing 3x as much, but if you don’t care about looks, want to save some money and want decent performance then go for these.
Perfect lens and at this price they are a real bargain. They feel very well built and heavy. You will have to use these in manual mode but that is fine for me as i find it easier to work with and way more accurate.
So i’ve been using this lens now for a while on and off since i bought it. This is a portrait lens and the one i’m using is a nikon version but i’ve stuck it on a sony alpha 6300 body. Its very sharp for the money. All i use it for is point and shoot video or photos. I’m not a camera expert in anyway but this fits my needs very good for photo-shoots and very good in low light too with a f1. Very clean lens i’ve it on a micro 4 thirds so obviously the lens in some way will be cut down in the 6300 being not full body camera and all. Is this worth my money or your guys and gals. I can only say about me in all honesty due to the fact i love photography and video-ogrophy. I’ve quite a few videos over on my youtube videos using my camera or even the lens over on anthonykennethbishop on my playlist sony camera andvlenses section.
If you are looking for good manual lense with lowest price, go for this lense.
The good old lenses are coming back. The optical quality is very good and the sharpness is as good as a more expensive lens. Good standard of manufacture and looks fab once attached to the camera.
More less what i was expecting at this price range, pretty good build quality and decent enough glass, definitely nowhere near what high end brands offer but it does the job and it can take a beating without me having to worry too much.
An excellent lense, at any price. And as with all wide glass it’s first stop is really only useful on a tripod. But all the stops along from it, and if you have the hands you can use the distance between the 1st and 2nd stop.
I bought this lens to use with my nikon fg 35mm film camera but the sample images were shot with it mounted on my d810. It is a well made metal lens that comes with the lens hood and matching lens cap on. The lens cap actually fits on the end of the hood. The hood can be removed to fit filters. The sample images show a sign shot at f1. 8 and a zoomed crop and the church tower was shot at f5. 6 to check infinity focus with a zoomed in crop. The only downside which i knew from reading another review is that this lens has no electronic contacts to control aperture so it cannot be used on a as the description says. This is a fully manual lens and is best focused at the widest aperture and then stopped down to the shooting aperture. Here are the specifications for the Neewer 85mm f/1:
- f/1.8 Maximum Aperture and Internal Focus: Designed to produce beautiful background blur, ideal for portraits and natural images; Inherits its predecessor’s ultra-fast f/1.8 maximum aperture and rounded six-blade diaphragm for superior depth-of-field control and background blur
- Precision and Flexible Adjustment: Manual Focus for your creative shooting; Aperture scale, focal length scale and smooth focus rings for precision adjustment and easy operation
- Mode Choices: “M” for manual exposure mode; “A” for aperture-priority mode; Suitable for both “full frame” cameras as well as the “APS-C” style DSLR cameras; Compatible with Nikon D5 D4S DF D4 D810 D800 D750 D610 D600 D500 D7200 D7100 D7000 D5500 D5300 D5200 D5100 D3400 and D3100 DSLR Cameras
- Multi-layer Lens Coating: Reduces flare and ghosting, a common problem with digital cameras and also creates an optimum color balance
- Premium Material: All-metal body and high index, low-dispersion multi-coated HD optical glass; No plastic no electronics to minimize the chances of breaking down

This lens, although cheap and with manual focus, delivers a really good image in the final result, crisp and with nice colours. The quality seems good, not plastic. Great for every type of photography, especially the type in which you have time to manually focus on the subject. Really good in low light, with its f1. 8, giving good results with a budget lens.
They are definitely on the cheap side but they are well made and the manual focus is smooth and the focus works without any issues. Sure they are a chinese brand but they cost a fraction of what other brands charge, and the quality is undoubtedly there.
These little lens absolutely blew me away, they feel extremely solid and are very smooth to use. And the glass quality is spot on. I would definitely recommend these.
For the money, a great little lens. I believe this chinese lens can be puchased under different brand names (eg kelda). Also keep in mind this is a fully manual lens, so not auto anything. 8 the lens is a little soft, paticularly around the edges. It’s usable, but only as a last resort. 5 (yep, strange increments) onwards it’s pretty sharp. It does suffer from some chromatic aberration, but (as expected) only on high contrast edges. As a professional videographer, i personally brought this lens for indoor interviews (ie head and shoulder shots).
I think at this price these lens preform wonderfully. The build quality is a little rugged but overall they take crisp photos and are easy to use.
Yes they are cheap lens but they are also surprisingly well built, the glass quality is similar to that of lens costing 2-3 times as much, and if you accidentally drop them you wont feel as bad.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Excellent value and can give very good results
- Good cheap-o lens even if only has manual focus
- Best budget lens in the market

I am an amateur photographer and am always pretty conscious of how much i spend on lens, as far as budget lens are concerned these are absolutely great. Do not expect professional quality from these but they are great to use and experiment with and the quality is actually surprisingly good for the price.
