Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5 – f/4-5.6 55-250 mm IS STM Lens

A good bit of kit for a very low price.

I am really pleased with the results from this lens. I’m by no means an expert photographer but it compliments the standard kit lens nicely and the quality of the photos are great even at full zoom. Focusing and image stabilisation works really well. The first photo is with this lens at 250mm and the second is with the kit lens at 19mm.

Ok, i ordered this lens for my wife to use on her canon eos m5 (with adaptor) to replace the ef m 55-200mm which is very soft indeed wide open at f6. It’s slightly heavier and of course larger but it is by far a more superior lens when its comes to image quality. This lens is indeed brand new and is the is stm version.I queried this with the supplier as one of the images shown on the listing in amazon shows the non is stm version(the image with the silver ring around the bottom of the lens). I have been involved in photography since 1983 and have had over the years various cameras including eos 50d, 7d, 5d mk3 and now eos r, so i believe i am well qualified to talk about equipment. I would class myself as semi professional. About this lens: it’s light compared to l glass has a good zoom range for apsc cameras, the zoom ring is smooth and has no play at present, the full time manual focus override works very well too. The lens is quite sharp wide open at 250mm (f5. 6) but gets very sharp when stopped down to say f8 if you have good light or increase your iso.

Item received is an official canon lens – although it is a grey market import from japan. I contacted amazon support and they reassured me that they will heed the warranty if any faults arise. If you prefer a direct canon warranty, look elsewhere. Anyway, it’s a great lens, complements my kit lens giving me focal ranges of 18-250mm on my canon 200d.

Superb item at a superb price.

I’m a beginner so cannot say how good it really is in comparison to other lens’. It is pretty sharp to my eyes at all focal lengths and i am very pleased with it. The autofocus is very quick and quiet. So much so a few times at the start i actually thought it wasn’t working. I bought it mainly for outdoors use, but have found its really good for portraits of the kids too, and gives that nice blurry background.

If you want a budget canon telescopic lens for a crop sensor camera, this is the one to get. Images are tack sharp easily beating the kit lens and image stabilisation is fantastic, well deserved 5 stars.

Let’s start with the misses before the hits:image stabilisation is a bit of a pain and 3/5 images will come out blurry if you are not behind the lens, so multiple shots are involved and there’s a lot of trial and error. Also, on manual mode, it takes the body a while to read what is in front of the lens. I use a canon eos m10, is like to add, so this may have a thing or two to do with it. I love how professional my pictures turn out. I finally have the blurred background effect i’ve been after.

At a price of £119 you cant go wrong, just go and watch some you tube reviews on this lens. Zoom ring is lovely and smooth which is perfect for video. The only downside for me is the plastic lens mount but the lens is light enough for it not to be too much of a concern.

You get what you pay for ,i am happy with this lens.

Product as described and good value for money.

Lightweight and small, it’s easy to carry with you, but gives very sharp images that match lenses costing 3 and 4 times the price. Focus is good, not as fast as some and this is perhaps where the cost savings show, but for most situation will be fine. A great lens, not just for the money, but simply an excellent performer.

Brilliant lens, compact, lightweight, excellent image quality, image stabilisation and very good zoom. I currently have 3 genuine cannon lenses for my canon 200d a 50mm, 18-55mm kit lens and the 55-250mm. Unfortunately i’m ‘that guy’, the one who always gets the one in a thousand defective product. Of the 3 lenses, 2 have had dust on the indide of the lens from the manufacturing process, the 18-55mm and this item, the 55-250mm zoom lens. I’ve sent it back and bought another, just putting it down to bad luck. The lens really is superb, i’m not a pro photographer by any means, just starting out but combined with the 200d it gives additional zoom (due to small body) and it’s nice and lightweight. The only thing that really stands out to me that could have been improved at this price point (£130-140) is the plastic mounting ring. The nifty 50 and the 18-55mm kit lens both have metal mounts and are cheap lenses so really expected the same. How this will last will be aparent through usage over time but i’d expect i’ll upgrade before it proves to be an issue. The stm motor is fairly quiet.

Legit product, very good entry level zoom lens, performs very well in daylight. Highly recommended for wildlife, can be used for some very interesting headshots as well.

Excellent service & was a good price.

I bought it for my boyfriend and he was very happy. He started using it right away and didn’t experience any problems. The picture quality is superb and it’s also versatile. The only thing that left me a little upset was that it came in a package full of paper (in order to avoid shaking) but the product itself was in a corner, not protected with paper around it.

Imagine quality is outstanding and it fits into your hand very nicely. It’s worth every penny in my opinion, especially compared to the original lens that they give you when you first buy a cameraoooonly issue, i used this camera to spot at heathrow, specifically myrtle avenue. Some planes such as the 777-300er and a380 were too long to fit into the frame. Because of this i had to use my original lens to spot those, however the drop off in picture quality for those particular photos was noticeable. As long as it can fit in the frame, whether you’re shooting a moving plane or a flower, you’re sure to get a great shot.

Lens seems well built for the money. I take aircraft so i need fast autofocus. The lens started out super quick but i’ve had the lens over a month and have notice it starting to struggle to focus for a couple of seconds which it wasn’t doing when i started using it. Lens be ok for landscape and still life. It’s no use for fast moving stuff.

The auto focus is so quick and quiet – love it.

Started to take an interest in photography and was looking for a lens that was going to do the job but not break the bank. I purchased this lens and more than happy with the shots i got from chester zoo. The focus weight and price are ideal for an amature or a semi enthusiastic photographer.

I’ve purchased this as the last compatible tamron lens i bought only lasted just over a year and ran out of warranty. Having read loads of reviews it looked like that particular lens often has issues. So, i wanted a canon lens that performed similarly to the 55-300 tamron. This is only a 55-250 lens but is perfect for what i need it for. I spent ages looking between this model and the one around 100 pounds with the only difference i could see was that this has the image stabiliser functionality (if someone can correct me if i’m wrong that would be good) the delivery came within a day and the first few shots taken have come out great on my canon eos600d.

Easy carry around lens, used for flower and pet images.

Great quality i will be able to give a better review later as i have been only testing and experimenting being a novice photographerdelivered very quickly well packaged.

Nothing to dislike in this lens, it’s in daily use and the photo quality is great.

Works well, have not been able to fully test it’s capabilities. Purchased it due to highly recommendations from online reviews, and definitely feels like a good product so far.

A plastic lens mount gives a quick indicator of where this lens is positioned in the canon line. The focus ring is not the smoothest available. This is not, however, the worst-built lens i’ve used. The zoom ring is reasonably smooth (but stiff) and there is only a minor amount of play in the rings and barrel.
