Fujifilm Fujinon XF16mm F1 : Fuji brilliance!

Sharp, light (came from canon) beautiful images.

Using this on a fuji xt-3, it is a delightvery fast auto-focus for video it is brilliant, wide enough to get everything in, even up close but has very little lens distortion for a 16mm. If you were getting an xt3 for the first time and wanted an awesome prime, the 16mm would be the first i’d advise.

I hope if it would be bit cheaper.

Absolutely fabulous lens by fuji.

Wow, you have to have this lens.

I’m not an expert photographer so can’t add that much to previous reviews. This lens is on my camera – fuji xt2 – 95% of the time. 4 is so incredibly useful for indoor for all manner of things such as dark churches, buildings, night time etc. Don’t think that 16mm is too wide either, it is a very useful fl. Does not have ois but seriously, do you need that at 16mm???. That’s more for telephoto so please don’t let that put you off. The tiniest of vignetting at f1. 4 – see my beach photo above – but that is splitting hairs and easily processed out. All photos in my review are unprocessed jpegs from the raw originals. You must be interested in this lens otherwise you wouldn’t be reading these reviews. My advice to you, if you can afford the slightly heavy price tag, is to buy it.

It has taken me a few months to get used to wide angle shooting. 2 and the kit mid range and zoom lenses. So the wide angle angle was always going to be a welcome addition to my xf range for my xt2. I have to say, i now prefer using prime xf lenses. They are super sharp, great apature control and require some extra thinking around composition. These make for an enjoyable shooting experience with minimal time in lightroom or photoshop. The close focus distance, the incredibly sharp pictures across the entire frame and color rendition make this an ideal travel lens. It did take some time and also effort to adjust my shooting style, especially after basically sticking to the 23mm f1. 4 focal range for 90% of my shots. 4 and can only recommend this highly.

This is one of my favourite lenses for the fujifilm x system. It is a very versatile lens with a surprising minimum focus distance. It is very sharp, renders beautifully with excellent resolution and has accurate autofocus performance. The build quality of this lens is superb. The clicked aperture ring is smooth and offers just the right amount of resistance. The manual focus clutch is also reassuringly smooth and accurate. The only criticism this lens may attract is that the autofocus, while quiet, will be picked up by the internal or a camera attached shotgun microphone. If you don’t do video however, there is nothing to fault with this lens.

I have tree lenses but this never seems to come off.

Received in time in appropriate box. The lens is awesome really good quality pics.

Stunning and highly versatile lens. Can’t fault it even at the price.

For many years i used 28mm (e) prime lenses but have gradually migrated to a wider field of view. 24mm (e) has become a favourite for landscape shots, but most of the lenses for other systems tend to be slow f/2. Having moved to fuji in recent years the availability of a f/1. 4 16mm lens was a strong attraction. The optical quality is exemplary, the ability to throw backgrounds out of focus (at a fairly close focusimg distance) is useful and the bokeh quality is pleasant. It’s a little bit on the large side but not heavy, balancing very well on an x-pro1 and xt1. Focus is fast and accurate on both bodies. It’s fine on an xt10 as long as you use an accessory grip.

I’ll start off by saying i’m not a wide angle shooter, i hate the distortion and general look you get with a wide lens. I bought this based on some compelling reviews. I can now verify that this is the best fuji lens i’ve used by far, yes it’s wide but the distortion is not noticeable at all. You can focus so close, which means you have a very versatile lens. The lens is so sharp that cropping is never an issue. If you can afford it – buy this lens. It’s far better than the 23mm, focusing on par with the 35 f2. Excellent for landscapes, portraits, low light photography – this lens is fixed to my camera 95% of the time.

Exceptional build and image quality.

If you like primes, have a fuji x series camera, and you’re looking for a wide lens, i think you’ll like this lens a lot. I moved from a dslr, to the x100, then the x100t, before deciding that i wanted more lens selection and moving to the x-pro 2. Because i was used to the compact x100 series, my first lens for the xp2 was the 35mm f2, which is a really excellent lens. However, i wanted a wider lens for ringside boxing shots, and property shots. 8, which i didn’t like at all. The lens is fantastic, but it is huge and i don’t really like using zooms. I returned the zoom immediately and tried the 16mm f1. Happily i liked it a lot from the first shoot. It is twice the size of the 35 f2, but half the size of the 16-55. It is comfortable to hold for long periods of time. I’ve shot portraits with this lens as well. I also use it in 1:1 aspect ratio a lot.

Wide-angle lens, you can shoot both macro, night shots, nature, and so on. Somewhere i watched a video that this is the best lens in 2016.

Having been a keen photographer for most of my life with the occasional foray into large format for industrial work and everything in between, i have been able to test many marques of camera bodies and great lenses. I have always defaulted to prime lenses as i find the laziness from using zoom lenses kills my creativity and very rarely produces the quality of the primes. My focal lengths of choice are full frame 24mm, 35mm, 85mm and my personal favourite the old nikon 105mm f2. However i loved the fuji design and ethos when it was released and eventually took the plunge selling all my nikon full frame digital gear. 4 is my latest acquisition and i am stunned by the quality of the images. As you can crop to 100% with virtually no loss of sharpness it is the lens that. If i am limited to taking just one with me on a shoot, it will be the one.

Fujinon XF16mm F1.4 R Weather Resistant Lens : This seems a great lens to me but not had the chance to fully test it out yet. I tried to check for up dates with it on my fujifilm xt-2 camera body but i got a yellow coded message saying update cancelled switch off camera. So i need to sort that out before i do any further tests.

Beautifully built, this lens is almost flawless (if that exists). The focal length is very useful and the wide aperture makes it even more useful. The image quality is top notch as i expected, since all reviews highly recommended this lens. The focus is quick and nearly silent. This lens is glued to my camera (fuji x-t2). The only downside i can see is that the lens is a bit big and heavy for the mirrorless standards but it balances nicely with the x-t2. No miracles can be done, this is a 16mm (24mm equivalent) f/1. If you try to find the full frame lenses equivalent to this one you will get much bigger and heavier lenses. I can sincerely say that i’m used to the size and weight and don’t find that to be problematic.

Balances really well with xt1. Equivalent to 24mm focal length in old money. Yes it’s a bit pricey but you do get a lot of high quality glass with weather sealing. No cash back offered on this lens at time of posting. Attached three amateur shots for the pixel peepers.

4mm after lots of research and reviews. Been using now for 3 months and in my opinion this is a wonderful lens. Quick sharp focus and great colour.

Really nice lens and the close focus combined with the super wide aperture, makes for quite an unique experience, no one else does this combination, so well done, fujifilm.

One of the best lenses i have for wide angle photography.

I am using this lens with the fuji xt2 and oh my what a great lens on an equally amazing body. I wanted a lens which was capable of shooting relatively wide and this 16mm was a good compromise and equally for short focus throw it’s great too being able to focus as close distance sold it for me. I’ve also invested in the additional metal hood for this lens which finishes off the kit nicely.

Just such a joy to use and the photos come out better than with any of my other lenses (have the 35 1. 4, 16-55, 50-140 and 10-20).
