Panasonic H-H025E-S 25 mm/F1 – great in low light fantastic must have lens for micro
Good price and amazing performance.
I absolutely love this lens for my panasonic gh4. It’s got a good premium feel, the results are outstanding and it’s relatively cheap too. If you have a micro four thirds camera, don’t hesitate. This will quickly become your first choice lens.
This is my first lense after a kit one. And it’s the best decision i made. Huuuuuge step up from a kit lense. I know that in the future i will get a better 25mm lense but it is more than perfect to start with. In general it is performing really great, just lacks sharpness if you are taking pictures of close up objects.
Incredibly capable and well adjusted for lighting. Works great in both light and dark situations. I experimented in an abandoned mechanics garage in east london earlier this afternoon, and a flower garden. Look at the pics and see for yourself. I used a panasonic lumix g7, no editing.
I bought this lens to use on a g7. The pros: its light, its fairly sharp and the auto focus works quite well. The cons: it does not achieve that shallow depth of field look that well (bokeh) unlike some lenses that nikon or canon make. It has a manual focus ring, but it has an internal auto focus too. Unlike older lenses and pretty much all manual lenses, there is no absolute focus based on distance marked on the lens barrel. This is a bit of a problem for video if you use a separate follow focus, because if you want to focus on something 10 feet away and then gradually focus to it moving in a shot to say 6 feet away, there is no guarantee you can do that on this lens as you might want if you use a follow focus. The lens is clever in that it can focus on anything when you press the screen automatically – but this feature can hinder manual focusing as it sort of resets itself. Like some of the other panasonic lenses, the footage is quite contrasty and limits the dynamic range you get in the footage. Dark colours are often maxed out into blacks. It means video footage from this lens is more limited for colour grading.

Ok , it’s not the maybe the classiest micro 4/3 lens, but it takes great shots. It is quick enough and versatile. I don’t mind the plastic build, some might.
Used at two weddings with gh4, auto focus was fast and i was happy with the low light performance.
Love this little lens takes quality pictures very lightweight mostly plastic but great quality you have come to expect of panasonic, good prime lens very handy when out and about without the need to lug heavier lenses about. You will be impressed at the quality of both lens and the quality pics it can take. Highly recommend especially at this price and free delivery.
The removeable ‘beauty rings’ which facilitates the use oa a lens hood is a really barmy idea.
Really nice lens, fast and super sharp.
This is an amazing first addition to my panasonic 12-60 f3. This lens is noticeably sharper than the kit lens and the extra aperture is welcome. My favourite use for this lens is for portraits and indoor photography. Manual focus wheel feels great and the auto-focus motor is very quiet which makes this a great video lens. My only gripe about it is that the build feels very plasticky. Personally, i would be happy to spend a little more for a metal body. Although i suppose the advantage of using plastic means that this lens is very light which is great when you are out and about. I can see why panasonic stayed with a plastic lens as it makes the lens pretty much unbeatable for the price.
I got mine only yesterday and haven’t had the chance to do much testing yet but from what i have done i can say that this is indeed an incredible value lens. Autofocus is indeed very fast, much more so than my 14-42mm olympus kit lens, and the focus is very accurate. Picture quality has only been tested indoors so any comments at this point i think would not do it justice but i can say that it is definitely sharper than my kit lens and nicely blurs the background. I love how compact and light it is and although it’s an all plastic build it doesn’t feel cheap to me. I’m really loving this lens so far and cannot wait to try it out outdoors.
Excellent lens, sharp and fast, just get one.

Not a bad lens for the price, but the silver one just looks terrible – immediately screams cheap and tacky (very different from the silver olympus lenses) – i immediately returned it and got a black one instead.
For a pice it is really excellent lens. It takes nice sharp photos, i use it with my olympus omd m10-mark ii.
7 means it seems a bargain in comparison to leica version.
Got panasonic g9 with the kit lens. The difference is massive especially over the night time. Plus day time pics and recording gives nice blur to the background. No stabilisation in the lenses though and no weather sealed. Sensor in g9 have 5 aix stabilisation so still fine.
Not the fastest (panasonic has a 1. 4 version) but still great quality image and does the work on low light as well. If you are crazy by ‘bokeh’, you shall go to the 1. 4 version (which costs around 5 times more.
This lens is superb i have taken macro shots of flowers ,low price ,great in low light fantastic must have lens for micro four thirds cameras.
Reviews from purchasers :
- Excellent standard lens
- Works great in both light and dark situations
- Shoots like a much more expensive lens. Probably the first lens you should buy alongside your kit lens

I have the lumix g7 and have been using my 12-60mm kit lens since i got it. I ordered this prime lens as it was highly rated, highly reviewed and i needed a prime for it. After just an hour or so of use, you really can see the quality of this lens shine. 7), it’s great in low light and in general situations. The shallow depth of field it allows is great, with contrasting blur between the subject and the background. The focal length gives you the chance to be artistic, without any zoom you have to get closer or further away from the subject, depending on what you want. The autofocus is great and i would thoroughly recommend this lens, especially as its so cheap for the quality you get. If you haven’t got a prime yet, you have to go for it – 100% recommend.
A bit larger than the olympus equivalent (and a lot cheaper), but a well built, sharp prime. And it has a lens hood included (olympus take note).
I’m new to the camera but was really happy to get another lens for my g7. Still trying it out but enjoying it.
Using this on three camera now.
Absolutely delighted with my purchase of the f1. Sharp as a pin and quick to focus in any light conditions. Now i feel slightly disappointed by the kit lens which lacks the clarity or the aperture size of this brilliant low cost prime. Edit: i added the hoya pro-1 uv filter from amazon and this lens is even better and the price is amazing, just £17. 91 for a top spec filter when i bought it. Seriously improved performance for landscape and water photography – cuts haze and glare and creates a crisper image.
For the price, absolutely incredible. The sharp detail this has is so much better thant the kit lens you are given. It has no zoom so it gives you that mid-range shot that is between a close-up and far away. But this is now the main lens i use for online videos.

For the price this is one of the best m4/3 lenses you can get, especially if you have a camera body with sensor stabilization. It works great for video and stills, it’s one of the lightest lenses i own and can produce high quality images. 7 aperture gives you a huge boost in low light performance compared to the 12-60 f3. I find the focal length great for indoor portrait style pictures but it’s just as easily usable in more open spaces.
I am a college student that takes a lot of pictures (mainly architectural photography) + this lense is outstanding. In love with this, really fast delivery, clean crisp and sharp images. Fast focus, really great for its money. I am using on my lumix g7 + it’s just perfect.
Outstanding lens and a no-brainer purchase for a panasonic g80 owner. Yes, the image quality is a noticeable step-up from using the 12-60 kit lens at the same 25mm length. 25mm on an m43 system is equivalent to 50mm on a full-frame system – which is the length that’s meant to be more similar to the human eye’s perception. Hence, its the recommended first prime lens you buy. Nice for natural portraits (not as much isolation as a longer portrait lens). Light, quick autofocus and great ability to capture subtle lighting. It’s also half the price of any other f1. 7 lens in panasonic’s range. It’s an obvious first-purchase for anyone who owns a panasonic m43 camera with a kit lens. I’ll get a wide angle prime next and will mainly switch between the two.
I’m from the old school of photography i admit it. Film slr’s i have bought in the past all came with a fast 50mm lenses and i grew to love that angle of view – it just seems (to me) to be the natural way to see the world. Moving on to the digital age and using ‘kit’ lenses with various digital cameras, i tend to set the zoom at around 50mm or 35mm (equivalent). I have recently purchased a panasonic lumix micro 4/3 camera with 12-32mm ‘kit’ lens – an excellent lens – very sharp and perfect for travel etc. However at my preferred 25mm (50mm equiv. 2 wide open, which on a dull day forces the iso up for a given shutter speed. With this (h-h025e) lens i have over 3 stops advantage – that’s the difference between being able to shoot at iso 200 rather than iso 1600. My initial test shots show the lens to be very sharp from f1. 7 to about f11 where image quality starts to drop off (due to diffraction).
I dont get the rave about this lens. It is a good lens but not a great one. It is cheap and thats what you’ll get in the world for cheap. Angle of view is small , good sharpness , manual focus is very long. You need to experiment a lot to get somewhere with it.
Comparing the image quality of this versus a 24mm samyang manual focus, the samyang blows it away. Of course, there autofocus (average), lightness (it is so light it feels insubstantial).
Makes me get up and move which makes for some interesting shots. Brilliant quality, and much better than any zoom lens of a similar price point. I very much recommend this, though keep in mind the 25mm won’t allow for too wide an angle (frustratingly close in many tighter situations).
Very pleased with lens which gives great low light shooting which also helps the autofocus and is extremely light weight compared to my zoom lenses. It is less flexible than a zoom, especially for enclosed areas where moving back is not possible.
Excellent value, i wish i got this as my first prime lens. Great focal length for indoor shots with family. I’m a beginner to photography but find my photos quality has improved.
Fantasticbrilliant lens coupled to my em10 mk2 i’ve had some brilliant shots.
I really like the image quality of it with my olympus em10 mark2. It feels little bit of cheap but the performance is great. The only missing part (according to me) is, it’s not weather-sealed. If it’s not important for you, i can easily recommend this lens to all m43 users.
I love the lens great value. However, it would have been nice to have had the the ‘ decoration ring ‘ that should have been included in the box so that i could use the lens hood. Its not worth the cost of sending the whole lot back just for a simple plastic ring. If you have a spare ring the cost of a second class stamp would get it to me.
An absolutely superb lens for the money, the image quality is way beyond the price if this lens. Highly recommended for micro four thirds users.
. You get your lumix leica snobs who choose the 25mm f1,4 over this which is much much more expensive and in my opinion does not warrant it for the added quality. This lens is total bang for buck and does not sacrifice quality.
This is the equivalent of a 50 mm lens in the 35 mm system. It ios lightweight but well made. This is fast and accurate on my panasonic g9 and olympus em1. Very sharp with excellent colour punch, nice bokeh too. If you only get one prime for micro fourthirds then this has to be the one, it’s inexpensive and produces excellent results.
